The Stone Roses rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their debut album voted the best British album of all time in 2004.[10] The band's second album, Second Coming, received a mixed reaction, and after several changes of line-up, the band split up in October 1996. There you go, 24 my arse!
I was absolutely dispized by that website... Nowere did I see Marquee Moon and Horses but Perl Jam, Kasabian and Blink 182 were there! And Radiohead in second place? Who goes on that website to vote? lol

Amazing creativity and song structure , however Ian Brown was the weak link in this band - A lot
to ask for but The Stone Roses could never have reached the level of Queen,The Doors ,The Smiths
or whoever without a Solid Front-person ... I believe The Happy Mondays suffered the same fate ... New Order , however , should not be forgotten in this type of forum ... They handled their own career with dignity and integrity from 1980 and beyond ... Just keepin' it real folks ...
HstyleTube...you have no fucking idea what you are talking about, it is laughable. Ian Brown and Shaun Ryder are fucking geniuses, and were both the main lyricists of their bands..do you think lyrics are unimportant? What the fuck is your idea of a solid front person? The fact that you said "keepin' it real folks" and referred to yourself as "H-$TYLE" shows what an unintelligent moron you are :).
I think the Roses were an explosive force, with all their creativity and energy put into one album and some b-sides - listen to the end of ressurection and tell me that this isn't as good (if not better) than anything the smiths, Queen, Doors etc did. Great music is great music. It's not an equation. They're all great.
It's crazy that it's 20yrs old already. I remember getting my lovely first vinyl copy of it. I was 15.
This album is THE greatest of all time. It's scandalous it wasn't in the top 10 let alone top 20. OK Computer is at no.1 on Channel 4's list so there's some consolation but I would've put it at no.2 just after the Roses.
the stone roses will always be legends simply because the burnt so brightly for so briefly. for two years back in the late 80's they were the worlds most perfect band....

Noel Gallaghers a twat. Just an imitator. The Roses were completely original and pure genius. All doing it because they love it. Unlike Oasis
