@SouthernSympathiser Back then almost all handgun shooting was one-handed. I always wondered why and I suspect it might be a hold-over from training with swords (officers carried sabres right till end of 1800's).
I think america started the two-handed hold from the prevalence of very-high power revolvers, where two handed hold was a necessity, like a broad sword.
But what worked for a heavy high-power revolver, works also for a small moderate-power pistol.
Damn... It just looks so good for shooting with one hand with a luger. I prefer more airsoft guns and don't like the real things :D Just wanted to know, what does it sounds like :P
I watched some of this guy's videos: accurate information and nice shots of the firearms in use...but his action movie star voice does not match his beer gut (as he was Delta Force, I guess it once did)
Plus, the Luger was not particularly linked to the Waffen SS (they used Walthers and Brownings as well, GP35 for example)...I agree that this assumption is rather puzzling
@kissmyasssuckers you re right, it was a very nice trophy, russian and american soldiers used it very often if they could get their hands on one. its a very beautiful weapon, i can understand them...
I know what you meant when you said SS officers carried. WE do not KNOW what MOST GERMAN officers carried. That is a crazy comment, unless you were there. Officers carried PPK's, and even S&W 38's man. Herman Goering carried a smith and wesson. ALL your information is accurate and i been collecting lugers for 20 years.
Most German officers carried .32 cal. auto pistols (Mauser HSc. & Walther PP/PPK). even in the SS. It was the non-coms and enlisted men with a need for a handgun that usually carried 9mm P.08 and P-38's. In some front line units where there was going the alot of front line combat like German Paratroopers, officers were probably holding 9mm handguns, but it was the exception and not the rule. I have two WW2 Lugers. Very accurate guns. Probably the most natural pointing handguns I have ever held.
MacInDaPants, do you realize that this bloke is a former doorkicker/firearms instructor/weapons R&D/armorer for "The Unit" 1st SFOD-D...you might know it as Delta Force.
dose anyone know why it was "customary" for waffen ss to shoot one handed? i would really like to know.

@SouthernSympathiser
That's how they did it back in the day. Wasn't until Jeff Cooper until two-handed shooting became the style of choice.

I hear that weapon had amazing penetration, could go through three men at once.
StarwarsHalofreak 2 years ago
They were 9mm's and yes it is possible for it to penetrate through three men, but highly unlikely.
P.S. Starwars is fucking awesome.

Hmm, nothing wrong with being interested in them. As long as that interest doesn't turn into admiration. If you know what I mean...
enisylo 2 years ago
I dont think the Luger was universally used by the SS, I think it was pretty standard issue for all officers, aside from the Walther
