I got this 45 in 1958 when I was 5 years old. I played the flip side over and over when I was little. This is actually the tune that got me fascinated with jazz. In high school I figured it out on the piano one day and even now still get a kick out this corny little blues number. I still have the record too. It's cracked from the center to the edge, but if you're careful you can line it up just right and it plays. Thanks to YouTube I now have a good digital copy in iTunes.
i too owned a copy of tis record, but unfortunately I sold it along with the rest of my 45's vinyl collection roughly 6 yrs. ago. son of a bitch, what a good song it, and everything else in that fucking collection was, for the most part, but I had no longer had my turntable, and couldn't play them!!!!!!!!!
I believe Ross Bagdasarian has never been given credit for being an outstanding arranger/writer and piano player. This song should be proof of how great at all 3 aspects he was. Sad how few songs that were on the flip sides of the Chipmunks' singles got any air play, and are now even harder to find. Brenda
This piece has a 'dark' quality that completely captivated me as a very small kid ... used to put this on and dance like crazy around the living room. I thought Seville was a maniac when I heard him laugh ... loved this a lot more than the "A" side, which was just "kid-stuff" ... it's kind of odd that they would put this on the back of "The Christmas Song", but then maybe they knew that some of us needed something a little wilder ...
I had this single as a child and remember turning it over and playing this song. I also had "Alvin's Harmonica" and remember playing the flip side, "Mediocre".
"Alvin's Harmonica" is one 45 I still need to add to my collection. I have it on my original album from 1958 which you see in the chipmunks songs I have on my channel.
I still have this 45 and a great old jukebox to play it on!! Great music from back in the day!!

First time I have heard this song since 1962. I had this single and thought the B side was weird. I was only 6 years old.

Wow! I have this 45, but no way to listen to it! I am so glad to find it here! I love this jazz tune, and love his "Ah ahhh, that's almost good..."

I too listened to this as a kid. Loved Seville's odd little remarks through the song.
