dude, get a life. If they have harmed you, you have a tort and can sue them. But I suspect you wouldn't be able to get anywhere with that. Just move on. Ignore them. Turn the other cheek.
Does anyone know WHY this whackjob is "protesting" this church? It's because he wants them to worship an ECLIPSE because "god" told him to, or something. Taken from his own website, he got mad because they advised him to seek mental help for his obvious psychotic breakdown. Apparently, he's been stalking these people since 1992, when he first started having his eclipse delusion. I think they're trying to get a restraining order against him.
You are either badly misinformed, possibly willfully ignorant, or lying ChrisStuperStar. I have never at any time suggested that anyone should worship an eclipse. On the contrary I am on public record as saying that eclipses should not be worshipped as per Jewish, Christian and Muslim beliefs about not worshipping the sun and the moon etc. What's this "obvious psychotic breakdown" you are talking about ChrisStuperStar? You sound just like that "fundamentalist atheist" bigot Rev. Ray Drennan. . .
Where do you get the notion that I have been "stalking" outrageously hypocritical U*Us since 1992? I did not even join the Unitarian Church of Montreal until December of 1993. Rev. Ray Drennan did not insult and defame me until November of 1995 and I tried to settle the conflict for for more than two years before deciding to publicly protest in May of 1998. BTW a peaceful public protest, even a long term one, is not "stalking". For the record, I have no "eclipse delusion" nor any "God delusion".
Looks like zhou1992 and thesilvershoes can't make up their small minds about me. Maybe they think I am a hermaphrodite or trans-sexual or something. ;-) Anyway, when one of them can't even spell a single five letter word correctly it's a pretty good indication of their level of intelligence. . .
Unitarian Universalists have perpetrated and/or perpetuated a fair number of injustices and abuses against me. Some of my other U*U Tube videos explain in more detail what U*Us have done to me as does The Emerson Avenger blog. A Google search on - "Robin Edgar" and Unitarian injustices - will find plenty of background. I should add that I am not just protesting against things that intolerant, abusive and outrageously hypocritical U*Us have done to me alone but also what they have done to others.
I don't think you're particularly wrong. I do think your tactics could use some work, and I still really don't appreciate these videos, but essentially, I want to work within the UU system to stop what you're protesting.
I also don't appreciate the violation of my private blog, but I suppose that's what I get for not bothering to actually make my posts private. So we're even there.
Are we arguing? ;-) We seem to be very much on the same wavelength at the moment. I only argue with people when I think they are wrong about something. I can't imagine that many U*Us will appreciate these videos but they would not even exist if U*Us had "done the right thing". As it is I am glad that I was able to take them and post them to the internet so that the people can see with their own eyes just how hypocritical some U*Us can be.
But I am as aware of this problem as you are, and I do hope to someday change it. In fact, I plan to start very soon within my Boston young adult UU community. Your protests are just one facet of a larger issue, which I want to start addressing as soon as possible.
I agree 100% that my protests are just one facet of a larger issue, or indeed a variety of larger issues. My protests are intended to draw attention to these larger issues as well as to my own particular situation. That is why some of my slogans paint with a rather broad brush. I have often said that my own situation is something of a worst case scenario but similar intolerance and bigotry and other abuses of power are found throughout the U*U religious community.
In truth, I feel that the problem within the UUA happens whenever anyone in a community is granted too much power. It's what has happened to PETA. It is a symptom of what happens to all large organizations on some level, even the most well-meaning organizations. You give people power, and their imperfections quickly come to the foreground. They forget that they are merely a small part of the bigger picture, no matter how high up in the system they are.
There is no question that what I am dealing with includes a fair bit of abuse of power, both at the local level and at the UUA level. In fact the UUA has a very poor track record when it comes to dealing with clergy misconduct and it has also refused to do anything about the related issues that I have raised such as the broader anti-religious intolerance within the U*U community and the egregious censorship and suppression of criticism and dissent by U*Us.
Of course, I expect it to be a fight. I know that there will be people within the UUA who will not be willing to see past their preconceived notions of organized religion.
As a seventeen-year-old, there is only so much I can do. However, I already decided, before this argument/discussion, that if I have the opportunity to convey a message of TRUE religious intolerance to UUs at a higher level, to the UUA as a whole, I would try my best. I have best friends who are devoutly Christian. I have been looking for ways to reconcile our beliefs for a long time, and I decided a long time ago that I wanted to show that no (well okay, few) religions are inherently wrong.
You might be able to do more than you think. There are seventy year old U*Us who have no excuse for their apathy and inaction, to say nothing of their picket sign tossing etc. There is no question that I and other people have been subjected to TRUE religious intolerance by U*Us. The problem is that the highest levels of the UUA are already perfectly aware of that fact. . . I think that what really needs to happen is some grassroots action from ordinary U*Us.
And if you had explained your protests in the first place, I might have been more willing to listen and less likely to explode. Showing me this random video, without explaining your causes ahead of time, made me much angrier than if you had said "I have a problem with UUs who are hypocrites, such as *thisperson* and *thatperson*, and I want you to watch this video which might show a bit of why, etc."
I would have been much more likely to listen if you had approached the issue differently.
I expect so but the purpose of my initial post was not to explain my protest but simply to raise awareness to it. I expect U*Us to enter into a free and responsible search for the truth and meaning behind my posts. That could have been done just in terms of viewing other videos here that explain what my protest is about. Anyway you seem to be listening now. ;-)
Well thank you for publicly confirming that there are indeed "bigoted hypocrites" in the U*U religion. My protest began primarily as a protest against the anti-religious bigotry of hypocritical fundamentalist atheist U*Us and the fact that their intolerance and bigotry had been condoned by both the Unitarian Church of Montreal and top level UUA officials such as former UUA President John Beuhrens and MFC Director Rev. Diane Miller.
PS I was angry, not immature. there's a differences. immaturity on internet arguments usually results in "LULS UR SUCH A ASSHOLE WHY DONT U GO FUCK URSELF?!!1111?1!" and you can be glad I didn't react like that. Reacting angrily probably wasn't the best decision on my part, but everything I said, regardless of how many swears I used, still stands.
Well there are different levels of immaturity. Poor control of anger is one form of immaturity in my opinion and, as may be seen from these videos even old men and women can behave remarkably immaturely at times.
Like I said, it wasn't the best reaction on my part. I was overtired and truly upset at what I felt was an attempt to degrade the one thing that is really important to me. Now that I got a full night's sleep, and understand the issue better, I hope you can see the difference in my attitude.
Actually I do see a significant difference in your attitude and I apologize for any distress that I caused you. As part of my protest I am simply making sure that my little problem is made known to as many U*Us as possible and that includes leaving comments on blog posts that reference U*Uism, especially if they have a high rank in Google. I have been very sleep deprived myself as a result of neighbours partying late into the night a few too many times in the last few weeks.
How am I supposed to know anything except what I see before me- some old man being videotaped and made fun of for you to prove your point. I'm not saying he reacted fairly, or justly, or particularly in the ways of UUism.
But when someone is outside picketing everything you believe in, you can't expect anyone, especially an older person- set in their ways and less likely to be able to accept something like this- to react any differently either.
But I am not protesting against everything U*Us believe in at all. On the contrary, I am protesting against the fact that Montreal Unitarian U*Us, top level UUA officials including two UUA Presidents, and a fair number of other U*Us have made a total mockery of pretty much everything U*Us claim to believe in and continue to do so. . . This U*U "Citizens' Police Officer" is making a mockery of various U*U ideals in this very video.
The picketing itself is nothing I have a problem with. I'm sure you have legitimate greivances with the UU system.
But by videotaping and posting some old man's instinctive reaction to an attack of his faith, that's what doesn't seem fair to me. How do I know if he is the perpetrator of such hypocrisy when all you show is his reaction to your protests? What if he was just some old man who was having a bad day?
Well I am glad to hear that you do not have a problem with my protest activity. I am not attacking the old man's faith and he knows it. My grievances are very well-documented and accurately reflected on my picket sign slogans. There is nothing "instinctive" about this old man's reaction to my protest. He is one of those Totalitarian Unitarian U*Us who have gone to great lengths to censor and suppress my legitimate protest. Who do you think he is talking to on the phone?
also, I was talking about youth-run UU conferences in my lj. Which, in the overall scheme of things, have next to nothing to do with the adult side of the UU organization.
That may be so but I am trying to make U*Us aware of what is happening in Montreal, as well as what is happening in Boston in terms of the UUA's negligent and complicit responses to my own and other people's legitimate grievances. In fact I am trying to get U*Us to take a good hard look at the injustices, abuses and hypocrisy that can be found in all parts of the U*U World and to start cleaning up their act.
I never meant that you were prejudiced against the UU religion, you made it quite clear in your earlier comments that you had nothing against UUism itself. I'm not that dumb.
I said prejudiced against UUs themselves. Just because some UUs, some of them in high places, screwed you over, does not give you the right to complain about ALL UUs and pick on other random UUs just because. THAT is where you seem to be prejudiced against us, if not against our faith.
But I am not complaining about ALL U*Us. I am not even complaining about ALL U*U atheists. Nor do I believe that I am I "picking on" individual U*Us when I call some attention to my legitimate grievances and protests in various ways. I was in no way judging you in my post. I was simply bringing my protest to your attention and presumably to the attention of other U*Us who might read your blog.
I know I already posted this in a reply down there vvv somewhere, but for continuity's sake:
I was talking about how amazing my UU friends were, not ALL UUs.
I grew up with a catholic father and attended a local catholic church as well as my UU church for many many years. I know firsthand what you mean when you say that there are bigoted hypocrites in the UU religion.
PS I live in fucking Boston, and I'm pretty sure you could have figured that out from my lj. what were you trying to accomplish by involving me in your dispute with the Montreal UUs?
PPS since when is there an asterisk in the acronym "UU"? Like, I'm not being antagonistic, I'm sincerely intrigued. Why do you put an asterisk in between the 'U's?
AFAIAC Every U*U who cares about the claimed principles and purposes of U*Uism should be concerned about what these videos show. Do you really think that living in Boston means that you can simply ignore U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy that occur in Montreal or San Francisco or New Orleans or Vancouver etc. etc. etc.? Never heard of the interconnected web of all existence?
There has been an asterisk in the acronym UU since at least 2003 when CUC Executive Director Mary Bennett had a rather questionable brainwave to insert famous U*U Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s drawing of an asshole between the twin cheeks of UUism in a misguided desire to symbolize just how "inclusive" the U*U "religious community" is. Just run an appropriate Google search for nmore information about Mary Bennett's all-inclusive U*U. I'm still ROTFLMU*UO about it. . . ;-)
not only that, but by posting a link to MY Livejournal, you just picked a fight with a SEVENTEEN-YEAR OLD GIRL, of all people. Someone who, by any rights, shouldn't be able to argue evenly and fairly with you.
And honestly, my lj and my posts aren't exactly grown-up. You can't have expected anything else. But seriously, I hope I fucking surprised you with this.
I posted the link because you were going on about how "amazing" U*Us are and I decided to make it clear that U*Us can be "amazing" in ways that are less than flattering. U*Us can be quite "amazing" in their degree of hypocrisy and stupidity, as these videos show. U*Us can be "amazing" in other negative ways aas well.
I was not aware of your age but that is beside the point. A SEVENTEEN-YEAR OLD GIRL should be able to deal with the content of these videos. Sorry to have to say so but I am by no means surprised by your immature reaction to my videos I know SEVENTY YEAR OLD U*U WOMEN who have reacted just as immaturely to my legitimate protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy as you have. Not to mention SEVENTY YEAR OLD "Citizen's Police Officers". . .
I was talking about how amazing my UU friends were, not ALL UUs.
I grew up with a catholic father and attended a local catholic church as well as my UU church for many many years. I know firsthand what you mean when you say that there are bigoted hypocrites in the UU religion.
most of all, you wouldn't be a prejudiced bigot against a specific religion just because a few people, or even a few churches, or even a whole district, screwed you over somehow.
I mean, maybe you do have good reason, but I can't see it here. To me, it looks like you're just looking for attention. You're looking to pick a fight. You were looking to pick a fight when you gave me this link.
I am by no means a "prejudiced bigot" against the U*U "religion". My criticism is of actual behaviour of U*Us. In fact, amongst other things, I am protesting against the well-documented prejudice and bigotry of U*Us. Didn't you see my video of the chalk slogan that says U*Us SUPPORT ATHEIST BIGOTRY ? I do in fact have plenty of good reason for my protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy so see keep looking. . .
By posting this video, by picking on some old man, of all people, you've just made yourself look like the ass. In fact, UU or not, I'm more likely to feel sorry for that whole church, for having to put up with you, than to feel bad for you when they finally can't stand you anymore.
and if you truly believed what UUism preached, you would have the decency and humanity to fight your point fairly, as opposed to merely trying to make others look bad.
I am not picking on this old man. He is very clearly picking on me by doing his best to trample all over my constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful public protest. I can assure you that most non-U*Us can see that this old man looks a lot more like an U*U than I do. I am just calmly commenting on his idiotic behaviour.
I am fighting fairly. If U*Us look bad it is because they have done bad things. Everything written on my picket signs is supported by solid evidence. I have repeatedly sought dialogue and responsible conflict resolution procedures but both the Unitarian Church Montreal and the UUA have obstinately refused to do provide viable avenues for justice in this matter.
Because if you truly believed in UU values, if you TRULY wanted to get rid of the hypocrisy in our system.... you wouldn't be using incendiary tactics to get a point across. You wouldn't be antagonizing some old man to get a reaction out of him. You wouldn't be videotaping and posting this shit on youtube, of all places.
I tried going through proper channels and got absolutely nowhere with U*Us. My grievances were callously and arbitrarily dismissed by both the Unitarian Church of Montreal and the UUA. Both the UUA and the UCM threatened me with punitive actions if I did not drop my grievances. I am not antagonizing the old man. He is antagonizing me. I just made a few comments on his idiotic behaviour.
why, why, WHY would you have the balls to come and post this on my LIVEJOURNAL, of all places?
I don't know what you have against UUs, but crusading against all of us is not an answer.
I've read enough of the comments below, and yes, some people are hypocrites. No one is perfect. I myself have known some very annoying, hypocritical UUs in my short lifespan, but I've obviously dealt with them better than you have.
As I said on your LJ blog I am not crusading against the U*U religion, just U*U hypocrites who make a total mockery of the claimed principles and purposes of U*Uism as this video clearly illustrates. . . I have actually dealt quite well with very annoying, hypocritical U*Us. This video makes it clear however that they can't deal very well with my legitimate public protest.
Man you really are an amazingly ignorant jerk wraithza. There are many millions of single people of all kinds of ages from 18 to 80 and more, and being single in no way means that they "don't have healthy relationships with anyone." Thanks for once again publicly displaying your own ignorance, prejudice, and indeed bigotry wraithza. 12 years of outrageous hypocrisy on the part of Montreal Unitarians is "a bit much" and that is precisely why I continue to protest.
I am very confident that U*U shit will catch up with U*Us wraithza. My ongoing public protest against U*U shit helps to ensure that eventuality. I have even half-seriously considered displaying picket sign slogans saying - DON'T LET A U*U SHIT ON YOU or MONTREAL U*Us ARE FULL OF SHIT but have refrained from actually doing so for now. My ongoing public protest, U*U Tube videos, and internet posts and blogging etc., are all about "What goes around comes around" wraithza. . .
I really pity you. You seem like a very sad man. I hope that someday you get some help. I hope you find some people to have healthy relationships with.
Try again Spamdumpster2003. I have plenty of people that I have healthy relationships with. It is most regrettable that most of the U*Us I know prefer to have rather unhealthy relationships with me when, if they made even a moderate effort to actually practice what they so hypocritically preach, they could have a healthy relationship with me.
LOL what else makes them immoral? They accept others who are otherwise aren't accepted. And you don't have healthy relationships with anyone, and I know this how? Because instead of spending time with the people you care for, you are doing stupid displays. Obviously your priorities are not sorted as of yet. OR you really have no one in your life, hence you being single and being a sad, pathetic old man.
My "CHURCH" OF THE IMMORAL MAJORITY picket sign slogan has nothing to do with "gays" wraithza, it has to do with the fact that a clear majority of the congregation of the Unitarian Church of Montreal have behaved in an immoral manner towards me throughout this conflict. More specifically, it refers to the immoral decision of the congregation to permanently expell me for protesting against the anti-religious intolerance and bigotry that I have been subjected to by their "church" leaders.
I think prejudice would have been a more accurate word to use, as immoral could be taken into context as "sexually deviant" or "wicked".
Ok, so that is unfair. But don't you think you should take your flak out with the guy who gave you the boot, instead of bugging everybody else? The least you could do is respect the people who have nothing to do with you being expelled. And target the guy who deemed you unfit in the first place?
I have used the word 'prejudice' on one of my picket sign slogans but the word 'immoral' is perfectly applicable as well. 'Immoral' means behaving in a manner contrary to morals, it is the equivalent of 'unethical' and does not mean that I am accusing U*Us of being "sexually deviant". No one guy gave me the boot wraithza. The congregation as a whole voted to expel me hence the IMMORAL MAJORITY picket sign slogan. . . I have "targeted" Rev. Ray Drennan, as any Google search will show.
Sorry wraithza but I am far from being a "psycho". I was unjustly expelled for protesting against the fact that Rev. Ray Drennan and other fundamentalist atheists leaders of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled Creation Day as a "cult" and otherwise insulted and defamed me. It is not "just" to expel someone from a "church" for complaining about clergy misconduct and/or other injustices and abuses committed by its leaders.
May I suggest that you would do well to hold off spouting BS that reveals your ignorance and lack of knowledge of the facts of this case and engage in what U*Us would call a "free and responsible search" for the "truth and meaning" that lies behind my picket sign slogans wraithza? On several occasions now, as illustrated by this ignorant commment, you have posted comments that make it abundantly obvious that you are speaking out of sheer ignorance of the facts of this matter.
actually i have read on your case numerous times before the finding of your videos. And not siding with you doesn't make me ignorant. So there is no "sheer ignorance". I am honestly telling you what I think of your vids. Not because I am a fan of the UU's or Biased. I watched an open mind; but no matter how hard I tried to sympathise I still felt you could have handled the situation better instead of behaving like a total thunder cunt. this is my opinion, please be NON-UU and respect it.
There is plenty of "sheer ignorance" publicly displayed in some of your comments here that have *zero* factual basis. You have made a variety of completely unfounded assumptions based on your obvious "sheer ignorance" that I have already shown to be ignorant and untrue. In case you hadn't noticed. . . I have been a non-U*U since November 22nd of 1999 and I am very happy to be a non-U*U.
LULZ. A non-UU why don't you get a better faith instead of a useless one. Making your life's beliefs against another faith is bigotry you ass hat, thanks for admitting it :D
You are obviously an idiot wraithza. My protest is not against the U*U "faith" or U*U beliefs. On the contrary, I am protesting against the fact that U*Us have abjectly failed, and have even obstinately refused, to sincerely practice what they so insincerely preach. I am protesting against injustices, abuses and hyopocrisy of U*Us who have harmed me and other people. There is no bigotry involved in my protest which is against actual bigotry committed by U*Us.
And if you can't see the humour and fun that is part and parcel of my protest activities you are blind wraithza. Some of my picket sign slogans use wry humour to expose U*U hypocrisy. The one that says UNSAFE SECT? is a hit with the public as are others like UNE EGLISE QUI N'EST PAS TRES CATHOLIQUE. I actually have quite a bit of fun during my Sunday protests and definitely had some fun making these videos that clearly show just what ass hats some Montreal U*Us are.
It is idiotic to suggest that I "don't have healthy relationships with anyone" just because I protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal a few Sundays a month. I have all the rest of each month to have healthy relationships with family members, friends and acquaintances. The vast majority of the people that I have healthy relationships with are not very impressed with the unhealthy way that U*Us have behaved towards me. . .
The only sad, pathetic old man in this video is the member of the Unitarian Church of Montreal who has the gall to call himself a "Citizen's Police Officer" while committing theft and vandalism. . . The various good people that I have healthy relationships with think that he is a complete idiot and even an "asshole". They get a good laugh from watching this and other U*U Tube videos that expose the injustices, abuses and hypocrisy of the "church" of the immoral majority. . .
You really are exercising ridiculously hypocritical double standards wraithza. What do you suppose I am doing *standing* outside the Unitarian Church of Montreal with picket signs protesting against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy, if not taking a stand for what I believe? This Totalitarian Unitarian may well be "taking a stand for what he believes" but he is doing so in a manner that makes a total mockery of U*U principles and purposes.
LOL he is human, we cant all abide to something perfectly, especially religion, it would be moronic to expect so. What high standards you set for people!
I only expect U*Us to make a reasonable effort to practice what they preach rather than repeatedly and continiuously making a total mockery of theie own self-professed "high standards" that are clearly expressed in the purported principles and purposes of U*Uism. I did not set those "high standards", which aren`t even all that high, U*U did. . .
I have made sense a lot more than once wraithza and a lot more than you have in your ignorant and indeed *prejudiced* comments here. And yes, publicly protesting against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy is a form of "enforcing" my expectation since you chose to use that term. It is to the shame and detriment of Montreal Unitarians, and other U*U hypocrites, that their outrageous hypocrisy has required some very public "enforcing" from me for about a decade now. . .
It is indeed a quire idiotic "leap of faith" to suggest that ANY single protester against injustices, abuses and hypocrisy of ANY kind does not "have healthy relationships with anyone." That statement revealsd your own incredible ignorance and prejudice to say nothing of outright stupidity. I have good reason to protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal on any given Sunday and doing so in no way measn that I "don't have healthy relationships with anyone."
No, its the fact that you are 48 or so? and single. I would imagine there is something wrong, because it shows inability to form normal relationships with people. And you are incredibly bitter, I cant hope to fathom what your real issue is here. 12 years of resentment is a bit much.
Come to think of it. . . If this belligerent Totalitarian Unitarian had acted this way towards someone who did not follow a policy of non-violence, and who might have retaliated to his belligerence by punching him, he might well have ended up with somewhat fewer teeth that day. In any case the thought of punching him never even entered my mind. I was having way to much fun videoing him. ;-)
Actually I think that videoing him, and putting the video(s) on YouTube is a much more appropriate response to this U*Us hypocrisy and idiocy. I have been totally non-violent throughout this conflict, even on those occasions when I have been physically assaulted by hypocritical Totalitarian Unitarian U*Us and I intend to keep things that way.
As a U.U., I am in total agreement with you this man chucking the sign out into the street IS acting very rudely and rather cavalier for someone of the U.U. faith.
At the same time, I would like to know against what you are specifically protesting. While your signs do point out hypocrisies in which I've known my fellow U.U.'s to engage, what specific experiences have you witnessed? Are you Unitarian as well?
Thanks for your "total agreement" that this Totalitarian Unitarian is making a total mockery of the purported principles and purposes of U*Uism hotjack99. Your agreement is especially in that you are a UU yourself. I have experienced a variety of injustices, abuses courtesy of hypocritical U*Us but my protest began as a protest against having my religious activities falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" by Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal.
dude, get a life. If they have harmed you, you have a tort and can sue them. But I suspect you wouldn't be able to get anywhere with that. Just move on. Ignore them. Turn the other cheek.

In truth, I feel that the problem within the UUA happens whenever anyone in a community is granted too much power. It's what has happened to PETA. It is a symptom of what happens to all large organizations on some level, even the most well-meaning organizations. You give people power, and their imperfections quickly come to the foreground. They forget that they are merely a small part of the bigger picture, no matter how high up in the system they are.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
There is no question that what I am dealing with includes a fair bit of abuse of power, both at the local level and at the UUA level. In fact the UUA has a very poor track record when it comes to dealing with clergy misconduct and it has also refused to do anything about the related issues that I have raised such as the broader anti-religious intolerance within the U*U community and the egregious censorship and suppression of criticism and dissent by U*Us.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
Of course, I expect it to be a fight. I know that there will be people within the UUA who will not be willing to see past their preconceived notions of organized religion.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
As a seventeen-year-old, there is only so much I can do. However, I already decided, before this argument/discussion, that if I have the opportunity to convey a message of TRUE religious intolerance to UUs at a higher level, to the UUA as a whole, I would try my best. I have best friends who are devoutly Christian. I have been looking for ways to reconcile our beliefs for a long time, and I decided a long time ago that I wanted to show that no (well okay, few) religions are inherently wrong.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
You might be able to do more than you think. There are seventy year old U*Us who have no excuse for their apathy and inaction, to say nothing of their picket sign tossing etc. There is no question that I and other people have been subjected to TRUE religious intolerance by U*Us. The problem is that the highest levels of the UUA are already perfectly aware of that fact. . . I think that what really needs to happen is some grassroots action from ordinary U*Us.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
And if you had explained your protests in the first place, I might have been more willing to listen and less likely to explode. Showing me this random video, without explaining your causes ahead of time, made me much angrier than if you had said "I have a problem with UUs who are hypocrites, such as *thisperson* and *thatperson*, and I want you to watch this video which might show a bit of why, etc."
I would have been much more likely to listen if you had approached the issue differently.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
I expect so but the purpose of my initial post was not to explain my protest but simply to raise awareness to it. I expect U*Us to enter into a free and responsible search for the truth and meaning behind my posts. That could have been done just in terms of viewing other videos here that explain what my protest is about. Anyway you seem to be listening now. ;-)
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
Well thank you for publicly confirming that there are indeed "bigoted hypocrites" in the U*U religion. My protest began primarily as a protest against the anti-religious bigotry of hypocritical fundamentalist atheist U*Us and the fact that their intolerance and bigotry had been condoned by both the Unitarian Church of Montreal and top level UUA officials such as former UUA President John Beuhrens and MFC Director Rev. Diane Miller.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
PS I was angry, not immature. there's a differences. immaturity on internet arguments usually results in "LULS UR SUCH A ASSHOLE WHY DONT U GO FUCK URSELF?!!1111?1!" and you can be glad I didn't react like that. Reacting angrily probably wasn't the best decision on my part, but everything I said, regardless of how many swears I used, still stands.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
Well there are different levels of immaturity. Poor control of anger is one form of immaturity in my opinion and, as may be seen from these videos even old men and women can behave remarkably immaturely at times.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
Like I said, it wasn't the best reaction on my part. I was overtired and truly upset at what I felt was an attempt to degrade the one thing that is really important to me. Now that I got a full night's sleep, and understand the issue better, I hope you can see the difference in my attitude.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
Actually I do see a significant difference in your attitude and I apologize for any distress that I caused you. As part of my protest I am simply making sure that my little problem is made known to as many U*Us as possible and that includes leaving comments on blog posts that reference U*Uism, especially if they have a high rank in Google. I have been very sleep deprived myself as a result of neighbours partying late into the night a few too many times in the last few weeks.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
How am I supposed to know anything except what I see before me- some old man being videotaped and made fun of for you to prove your point. I'm not saying he reacted fairly, or justly, or particularly in the ways of UUism.
But when someone is outside picketing everything you believe in, you can't expect anyone, especially an older person- set in their ways and less likely to be able to accept something like this- to react any differently either.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
But I am not protesting against everything U*Us believe in at all. On the contrary, I am protesting against the fact that Montreal Unitarian U*Us, top level UUA officials including two UUA Presidents, and a fair number of other U*Us have made a total mockery of pretty much everything U*Us claim to believe in and continue to do so. . . This U*U "Citizens' Police Officer" is making a mockery of various U*U ideals in this very video.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
The picketing itself is nothing I have a problem with. I'm sure you have legitimate greivances with the UU system.
But by videotaping and posting some old man's instinctive reaction to an attack of his faith, that's what doesn't seem fair to me. How do I know if he is the perpetrator of such hypocrisy when all you show is his reaction to your protests? What if he was just some old man who was having a bad day?
thephantommilk 4 years ago
Well I am glad to hear that you do not have a problem with my protest activity. I am not attacking the old man's faith and he knows it. My grievances are very well-documented and accurately reflected on my picket sign slogans. There is nothing "instinctive" about this old man's reaction to my protest. He is one of those Totalitarian Unitarian U*Us who have gone to great lengths to censor and suppress my legitimate protest. Who do you think he is talking to on the phone?
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
also, I was talking about youth-run UU conferences in my lj. Which, in the overall scheme of things, have next to nothing to do with the adult side of the UU organization.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
That may be so but I am trying to make U*Us aware of what is happening in Montreal, as well as what is happening in Boston in terms of the UUA's negligent and complicit responses to my own and other people's legitimate grievances. In fact I am trying to get U*Us to take a good hard look at the injustices, abuses and hypocrisy that can be found in all parts of the U*U World and to start cleaning up their act.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
I never meant that you were prejudiced against the UU religion, you made it quite clear in your earlier comments that you had nothing against UUism itself. I'm not that dumb.
I said prejudiced against UUs themselves. Just because some UUs, some of them in high places, screwed you over, does not give you the right to complain about ALL UUs and pick on other random UUs just because. THAT is where you seem to be prejudiced against us, if not against our faith.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
But I am not complaining about ALL U*Us. I am not even complaining about ALL U*U atheists. Nor do I believe that I am I "picking on" individual U*Us when I call some attention to my legitimate grievances and protests in various ways. I was in no way judging you in my post. I was simply bringing my protest to your attention and presumably to the attention of other U*Us who might read your blog.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
I know I already posted this in a reply down there vvv somewhere, but for continuity's sake:
I was talking about how amazing my UU friends were, not ALL UUs.
I grew up with a catholic father and attended a local catholic church as well as my UU church for many many years. I know firsthand what you mean when you say that there are bigoted hypocrites in the UU religion.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
PS I live in fucking Boston, and I'm pretty sure you could have figured that out from my lj. what were you trying to accomplish by involving me in your dispute with the Montreal UUs?
PPS since when is there an asterisk in the acronym "UU"? Like, I'm not being antagonistic, I'm sincerely intrigued. Why do you put an asterisk in between the 'U's?
thephantommilk 4 years ago
AFAIAC Every U*U who cares about the claimed principles and purposes of U*Uism should be concerned about what these videos show. Do you really think that living in Boston means that you can simply ignore U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy that occur in Montreal or San Francisco or New Orleans or Vancouver etc. etc. etc.? Never heard of the interconnected web of all existence?
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
There has been an asterisk in the acronym UU since at least 2003 when CUC Executive Director Mary Bennett had a rather questionable brainwave to insert famous U*U Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s drawing of an asshole between the twin cheeks of UUism in a misguided desire to symbolize just how "inclusive" the U*U "religious community" is. Just run an appropriate Google search for nmore information about Mary Bennett's all-inclusive U*U. I'm still ROTFLMU*UO about it. . . ;-)
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
not only that, but by posting a link to MY Livejournal, you just picked a fight with a SEVENTEEN-YEAR OLD GIRL, of all people. Someone who, by any rights, shouldn't be able to argue evenly and fairly with you.
And honestly, my lj and my posts aren't exactly grown-up. You can't have expected anything else. But seriously, I hope I fucking surprised you with this.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
I posted the link because you were going on about how "amazing" U*Us are and I decided to make it clear that U*Us can be "amazing" in ways that are less than flattering. U*Us can be quite "amazing" in their degree of hypocrisy and stupidity, as these videos show. U*Us can be "amazing" in other negative ways aas well.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
I was not aware of your age but that is beside the point. A SEVENTEEN-YEAR OLD GIRL should be able to deal with the content of these videos. Sorry to have to say so but I am by no means surprised by your immature reaction to my videos I know SEVENTY YEAR OLD U*U WOMEN who have reacted just as immaturely to my legitimate protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy as you have. Not to mention SEVENTY YEAR OLD "Citizen's Police Officers". . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
I was talking about how amazing my UU friends were, not ALL UUs.
I grew up with a catholic father and attended a local catholic church as well as my UU church for many many years. I know firsthand what you mean when you say that there are bigoted hypocrites in the UU religion.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
most of all, you wouldn't be a prejudiced bigot against a specific religion just because a few people, or even a few churches, or even a whole district, screwed you over somehow.
I mean, maybe you do have good reason, but I can't see it here. To me, it looks like you're just looking for attention. You're looking to pick a fight. You were looking to pick a fight when you gave me this link.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
I am by no means a "prejudiced bigot" against the U*U "religion". My criticism is of actual behaviour of U*Us. In fact, amongst other things, I am protesting against the well-documented prejudice and bigotry of U*Us. Didn't you see my video of the chalk slogan that says U*Us SUPPORT ATHEIST BIGOTRY ? I do in fact have plenty of good reason for my protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy so see keep looking. . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
By posting this video, by picking on some old man, of all people, you've just made yourself look like the ass. In fact, UU or not, I'm more likely to feel sorry for that whole church, for having to put up with you, than to feel bad for you when they finally can't stand you anymore.
and if you truly believed what UUism preached, you would have the decency and humanity to fight your point fairly, as opposed to merely trying to make others look bad.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
I am not picking on this old man. He is very clearly picking on me by doing his best to trample all over my constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful public protest. I can assure you that most non-U*Us can see that this old man looks a lot more like an U*U than I do. I am just calmly commenting on his idiotic behaviour.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
I am fighting fairly. If U*Us look bad it is because they have done bad things. Everything written on my picket signs is supported by solid evidence. I have repeatedly sought dialogue and responsible conflict resolution procedures but both the Unitarian Church Montreal and the UUA have obstinately refused to do provide viable avenues for justice in this matter.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
to continue:
Because if you truly believed in UU values, if you TRULY wanted to get rid of the hypocrisy in our system.... you wouldn't be using incendiary tactics to get a point across. You wouldn't be antagonizing some old man to get a reaction out of him. You wouldn't be videotaping and posting this shit on youtube, of all places.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
I tried going through proper channels and got absolutely nowhere with U*Us. My grievances were callously and arbitrarily dismissed by both the Unitarian Church of Montreal and the UUA. Both the UUA and the UCM threatened me with punitive actions if I did not drop my grievances. I am not antagonizing the old man. He is antagonizing me. I just made a few comments on his idiotic behaviour.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
FUCKING HELL
why, why, WHY would you have the balls to come and post this on my LIVEJOURNAL, of all places?
I don't know what you have against UUs, but crusading against all of us is not an answer.
I've read enough of the comments below, and yes, some people are hypocrites. No one is perfect. I myself have known some very annoying, hypocritical UUs in my short lifespan, but I've obviously dealt with them better than you have.
thephantommilk 4 years ago
As I said on your LJ blog I am not crusading against the U*U religion, just U*U hypocrites who make a total mockery of the claimed principles and purposes of U*Uism as this video clearly illustrates. . . I have actually dealt quite well with very annoying, hypocritical U*Us. This video makes it clear however that they can't deal very well with my legitimate public protest.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
Man you really are an amazingly ignorant jerk wraithza. There are many millions of single people of all kinds of ages from 18 to 80 and more, and being single in no way means that they "don't have healthy relationships with anyone." Thanks for once again publicly displaying your own ignorance, prejudice, and indeed bigotry wraithza. 12 years of outrageous hypocrisy on the part of Montreal Unitarians is "a bit much" and that is precisely why I continue to protest.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
What comes around goes around Robin. Carry on with your shit, it'll catch up on you and those who, if in fact they have, done anything wrong to you.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
I am very confident that U*U shit will catch up with U*Us wraithza. My ongoing public protest against U*U shit helps to ensure that eventuality. I have even half-seriously considered displaying picket sign slogans saying - DON'T LET A U*U SHIT ON YOU or MONTREAL U*Us ARE FULL OF SHIT but have refrained from actually doing so for now. My ongoing public protest, U*U Tube videos, and internet posts and blogging etc., are all about "What goes around comes around" wraithza. . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
LULZ smart.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
I really pity you. You seem like a very sad man. I hope that someday you get some help. I hope you find some people to have healthy relationships with.
Spamdumpster2003 4 years ago 2
Try again Spamdumpster2003. I have plenty of people that I have healthy relationships with. It is most regrettable that most of the U*Us I know prefer to have rather unhealthy relationships with me when, if they made even a moderate effort to actually practice what they so hypocritically preach, they could have a healthy relationship with me.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
leave the gays alone then
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
What "gays" are you talking about wraithza. This conflict has nothing to do with "gays". U*U or otherwise.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
LOL what else makes them immoral? They accept others who are otherwise aren't accepted. And you don't have healthy relationships with anyone, and I know this how? Because instead of spending time with the people you care for, you are doing stupid displays. Obviously your priorities are not sorted as of yet. OR you really have no one in your life, hence you being single and being a sad, pathetic old man.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
My "CHURCH" OF THE IMMORAL MAJORITY picket sign slogan has nothing to do with "gays" wraithza, it has to do with the fact that a clear majority of the congregation of the Unitarian Church of Montreal have behaved in an immoral manner towards me throughout this conflict. More specifically, it refers to the immoral decision of the congregation to permanently expell me for protesting against the anti-religious intolerance and bigotry that I have been subjected to by their "church" leaders.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
I think prejudice would have been a more accurate word to use, as immoral could be taken into context as "sexually deviant" or "wicked".
Ok, so that is unfair. But don't you think you should take your flak out with the guy who gave you the boot, instead of bugging everybody else? The least you could do is respect the people who have nothing to do with you being expelled. And target the guy who deemed you unfit in the first place?
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
I have used the word 'prejudice' on one of my picket sign slogans but the word 'immoral' is perfectly applicable as well. 'Immoral' means behaving in a manner contrary to morals, it is the equivalent of 'unethical' and does not mean that I am accusing U*Us of being "sexually deviant". No one guy gave me the boot wraithza. The congregation as a whole voted to expel me hence the IMMORAL MAJORITY picket sign slogan. . . I have "targeted" Rev. Ray Drennan, as any Google search will show.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
kicking out a psycho to keep the peace in the congregation of normal people, isn't "immoral" it is just.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
Sorry wraithza but I am far from being a "psycho". I was unjustly expelled for protesting against the fact that Rev. Ray Drennan and other fundamentalist atheists leaders of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled Creation Day as a "cult" and otherwise insulted and defamed me. It is not "just" to expel someone from a "church" for complaining about clergy misconduct and/or other injustices and abuses committed by its leaders.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
May I suggest that you would do well to hold off spouting BS that reveals your ignorance and lack of knowledge of the facts of this case and engage in what U*Us would call a "free and responsible search" for the "truth and meaning" that lies behind my picket sign slogans wraithza? On several occasions now, as illustrated by this ignorant commment, you have posted comments that make it abundantly obvious that you are speaking out of sheer ignorance of the facts of this matter.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
actually i have read on your case numerous times before the finding of your videos.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
There is plenty of "sheer ignorance" publicly displayed in some of your comments here that have *zero* factual basis. You have made a variety of completely unfounded assumptions based on your obvious "sheer ignorance" that I have already shown to be ignorant and untrue. In case you hadn't noticed. . . I have been a non-U*U since November 22nd of 1999 and I am very happy to be a non-U*U.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
LULZ. A non-UU why don't you get a better faith instead of a useless one. Making your life's beliefs against another faith is bigotry you ass hat, thanks for admitting it :D
And you don't seem happy. LULZ
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
You are obviously an idiot wraithza. My protest is not against the U*U "faith" or U*U beliefs. On the contrary, I am protesting against the fact that U*Us have abjectly failed, and have even obstinately refused, to sincerely practice what they so insincerely preach. I am protesting against injustices, abuses and hyopocrisy of U*Us who have harmed me and other people. There is no bigotry involved in my protest which is against actual bigotry committed by U*Us.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
And if you can't see the humour and fun that is part and parcel of my protest activities you are blind wraithza. Some of my picket sign slogans use wry humour to expose U*U hypocrisy. The one that says UNSAFE SECT? is a hit with the public as are others like UNE EGLISE QUI N'EST PAS TRES CATHOLIQUE. I actually have quite a bit of fun during my Sunday protests and definitely had some fun making these videos that clearly show just what ass hats some Montreal U*Us are.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
It is idiotic to suggest that I "don't have healthy relationships with anyone" just because I protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal a few Sundays a month. I have all the rest of each month to have healthy relationships with family members, friends and acquaintances. The vast majority of the people that I have healthy relationships with are not very impressed with the unhealthy way that U*Us have behaved towards me. . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
The only sad, pathetic old man in this video is the member of the Unitarian Church of Montreal who has the gall to call himself a "Citizen's Police Officer" while committing theft and vandalism. . . The various good people that I have healthy relationships with think that he is a complete idiot and even an "asshole". They get a good laugh from watching this and other U*U Tube videos that expose the injustices, abuses and hypocrisy of the "church" of the immoral majority. . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
actually he seems pretty normal, he is taking a stand for what he believes.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
You really are exercising ridiculously hypocritical double standards wraithza. What do you suppose I am doing *standing* outside the Unitarian Church of Montreal with picket signs protesting against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy, if not taking a stand for what I believe? This Totalitarian Unitarian may well be "taking a stand for what he believes" but he is doing so in a manner that makes a total mockery of U*U principles and purposes.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
LOL he is human, we cant all abide to something perfectly, especially religion, it would be moronic to expect so. What high standards you set for people!
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
I only expect U*Us to make a reasonable effort to practice what they preach rather than repeatedly and continiuously making a total mockery of theie own self-professed "high standards" that are clearly expressed in the purported principles and purposes of U*Uism. I did not set those "high standards", which aren`t even all that high, U*U did. . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
For once you made sense, I applaud you! But isn't this enforcing your expectation?
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
I have made sense a lot more than once wraithza and a lot more than you have in your ignorant and indeed *prejudiced* comments here. And yes, publicly protesting against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy is a form of "enforcing" my expectation since you chose to use that term. It is to the shame and detriment of Montreal Unitarians, and other U*U hypocrites, that their outrageous hypocrisy has required some very public "enforcing" from me for about a decade now. . .
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
No it isn't idiotic, what is a man your age doing alone and harassing people? I raise an eyebrow.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
It is indeed a quire idiotic "leap of faith" to suggest that ANY single protester against injustices, abuses and hypocrisy of ANY kind does not "have healthy relationships with anyone." That statement revealsd your own incredible ignorance and prejudice to say nothing of outright stupidity. I have good reason to protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal on any given Sunday and doing so in no way measn that I "don't have healthy relationships with anyone."
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
No, its the fact that you are 48 or so? and single. I would imagine there is something wrong, because it shows inability to form normal relationships with people. And you are incredibly bitter, I cant hope to fathom what your real issue is here. 12 years of resentment is a bit much.
WRAITHZA 4 years ago
hahaah i didn thear the part about "OH nice teeth sir nice teeth"
jimmyphack 4 years ago
Come to think of it. . . If this belligerent Totalitarian Unitarian had acted this way towards someone who did not follow a policy of non-violence, and who might have retaliated to his belligerence by punching him, he might well have ended up with somewhat fewer teeth that day. In any case the thought of punching him never even entered my mind. I was having way to much fun videoing him. ;-)
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
Actually I think that videoing him, and putting the video(s) on YouTube is a much more appropriate response to this U*Us hypocrisy and idiocy. I have been totally non-violent throughout this conflict, even on those occasions when I have been physically assaulted by hypocritical Totalitarian Unitarian U*Us and I intend to keep things that way.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
As a U.U., I am in total agreement with you this man chucking the sign out into the street IS acting very rudely and rather cavalier for someone of the U.U. faith.
At the same time, I would like to know against what you are specifically protesting. While your signs do point out hypocrisies in which I've known my fellow U.U.'s to engage, what specific experiences have you witnessed? Are you Unitarian as well?
hotjack99 4 years ago
Thanks for your "total agreement" that this Totalitarian Unitarian is making a total mockery of the purported principles and purposes of U*Uism hotjack99. Your agreement is especially in that you are a UU yourself. I have experienced a variety of injustices, abuses courtesy of hypocritical U*Us but my protest began as a protest against having my religious activities falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" by Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal.
RobinEdgar 4 years ago
you should have Punched the Hipocrate.
