Pelicans eat almost anything:birds, snakes, etc. Their diet in the past consisted mostly of fish only because fish were once plentiful and pelicans therefore didn't wander onto land nearly as much as they do NOW(same for seagulls). Nowadays, pelicans are coming onto land more often, and when they do ANY small animal better WATCH OUT:if it can fit in their bill it's history! I've seen them eat pigeons, snakes(especially garter snakes)lizards and even a PUPPY-almost
