We know that African Americans are descended from West Africa and that Swahili is spoken in East Africa, but Swahili is a lingua franca that is the most widely spoken language on the continent - that's why he chose it. And we know that Kwanzaa is not an African celebration and that he made up the principles, but they are meaningful and that's why we observe them.
