  • they couldn't play but they could sing pretty good

  • Mickey and Peter aren't even trying to look believable playing their instruments

  • Fun fact. 1958 was a great year for the entertainment world. Michael Jackson & Madonna were both born in August 1958. Prince was born in June 1958. Even the greatest dancer for Irish dancing, Michael Flatley, from Lord of the Dance was born in 1958. MJ stayed with Flatley at his castle before he died to get away from the media.

  • I used to love their music...this one and especially "Last Train to Clarksville" always stand out for me. Their other music is catchy too:-)

  • @cmf4321 The internet being bad, lol. Sure if you focus on the negatives it looks bad. How about you look at the positives. It is a vast stream of nearly infinite knowledge. It creates a literal global community. It boosts our economy and is the reason why the united states is #1 in patents. Not to mention the advancing of computers have let the medical and scientific communities soar into a new golden age. The inteenet is not as bad as you say, and I cant believe you just compared porn to fraud

  • This was #1 song on the day I was born. Music meant something back then.

  • lol hahahahaha. i was reading the jimmie hendrix biography and appearantly these people were the coolest people ever.

their daily routine consisted of being arrogant and killing their braincells with psychedelics.

they would smoke extreme amounts of hash get up on stage, pretend like they knew how to play music... then then look at the audience and go "im gonna fuck THAT one"

  • 377 people arent believers <3

  • 377 people arent believers <3

  • This is the sh*t i am a believer!

  • Don't laugh at the tambourine player. He's just enjoying himself and getting into the groove.

  • I'm not from your generation. But you have no right to complain about ours. You're telling me that your era was great. It really seems lovely :). But it was your gen., & all the ones before who led to this moment. You have contributed to the "innovations˝ & "fucked up society." I'm NOT blaming anyone. But you say we no longer "talk to people daily," that we can't live without "internet, cells, & cable," BUT WE DO AND CAN. So please stop comparing, it's getting a bit repetitive.

  • @TheYellowLemonTree I have to agree with you that it was the creative minds of the baby boomers that are the source of most of the "innovations". However, most of our generation is horrified at what's going on today. I'm sure that Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc. never intended for the internet to be used in the evil ways it has. It was suppose to help people..not the opposite. And it seems to be younger people who create the viruses in computers...who does that help?

  • @TheYellowLemonTree i like your style man, you tell um. so true as well, thats why i like it :-)

  • LOL @ the tamberline player! (however you spell that)

  • Happy 71st Birthday, Neil Diamond!....writer of this song

  • the monkees, beliving before it was cool

  • didn't know that bruce lee played the drums

  • ;)

  • 0:30 the guitarist dead stare.....=|

  • are terrifc and this cancion triumph in all the world

  • I was 6 years old when i heard this and 51 now still love the monkees

  • you can tell there not doing this looking at his drumming but its still good song

  • i'm only 17 and prefer this music over todays :)

  • @cmf4321 You are so damn right! i'm always hearing those story's from my parents, and it's really frustrating to think about that good day's, and then look out the window and see those shitty wannabe gangster kids....

  • @poep1292 I hope you can find & have some special friendships where they are looking for the same things as you. You sound like a nice kid:-) They are out there if you look in the right places:-)

  • This takes me back to the days of my Jr. High, and the boy's wide belts with the big square buckles, and slot cars as well as go kart tracks, roller skating at the rinks, etc.

  • I cannot believe that this song was written by Neil Diamond. Just watched the bio of him and this was one of his first song writting attempts. Amazing song. Love him and the Monkees.

  • I love the Monkees. My first crush was of course, DJ. x

  • This song came out in the year I was born O.O haha

  • A better signer than Ringo.

  • that guy looks like Bruce Lee haha

  • shrek ruins this everyone just thinks omg this is the song from shrek and this is coming from a kid here

i challenge you look at the number of views on this then look at the amount of justin bieber it is ridiculous

  • Saddly, these days "Believer" means something which only envolves money and a young kid with millions of fans

  • I used to think love was only true in fairytales...then I took an arrow to the knee. WHAT? Don't believe me just ask Cupid.

  • @NoNcOnFoRMiSt26 "To see the wonder, the beauty, the value and dignity of another human being is the Gospel, the Good news; it is also called Christianity." Pope John Paul II in 1978 in his first Encycical "Redemptio Hominis"! A retired Catholic priest in Canada. "Each person has a value, a dignity beyond compare." Again John Paul II in the same document. Thanks, and God has blessed you..."He has kept the Best Wine until now." See John, chapter 2, verse 10.

  • If anyone wants to sing this karaoke, I've got a karaoke version of I'm a Believer with lyrics at my acount, just click on my user name! :-)

  • Nice, I am in this part of Youtube were videos have over one or two millions views.

These videos are all good old rock music videos :)

    ....

I'm so happy when i see that so many people are listening to good music :)

until i see how many views Rebecca Black's video has -.-

    poor world.

  • @MisterPubichair You know it's a poor world when a user by the name of "MisterPubichair" is criticizing it. LOL!

  • @MisterPubichair I have no idea who rebecca black is hahah

  • because its the way we rolled back then smile

  • Thumbs up if The Monkees brought you here.

  • @NicolleWith2Ls thums up if the VW new beetle commercial brought you here! :D

  • Two words: BOWL CUT

  • the drummer looks like a complete twat.

  • thumbs up if shrek brought you here

  • i think hair is horrible

  • Wow!!! nobody can do the serpentine dance like Davy!! although,, Axel rose tried to take Davy's trademark dance.

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH

  • the guy with the tambourine has a cute dance :P

  • @Katie12345YAY

    That's Davy Jones

  • @UltravioletAngel lol cool

  • I had SO MUCH FUN growing up in an innocent era. We had NO pressure. No internet, cells, cable TV., etc. We just had innocent fun! Every kid was out the door playing in the early AM. Our parents didn't see us until the street lights came on. No one was overweight because we kept ourselves entertained outside all day w/ our friends. We didn't lock our doors. No fears. The disco era was a BLAST in the 70's. Everything started to change & today's kids will never know what they missed. Long gone:-(

  • @cmf4321 Truee !!

  • @cmf4321 Amen to that. And if there was a fight the worst that would happen is you lost that friendship for a while. You didn't have to worry about someone running home to return with a gun. Those were the days!!!!

  • @jimboski65 Amen to that! We didn't have to worry about bullying, violence, safety...just the loss of a friendship. I miss the innocence of those times. We were such sweet kids. Today's kids are a different breed. What they wear to school, wearing make-up, worrying about things that we could have cared less. We just wanted to have fun!! And did we ever!! BTW, I was born in the same year as Michael Jackson, Prince & Madonna (1958)...and you?

  • @cmf4321 I came along 7 years later (1965) but we're from the same generation/era. Amen to today's kids being a different breed. We may not have liked our teachers but we respected them and their authority. Now teachers have to worry about poison-spiked coffee, vandalized cars, getting beat up or worse, But some of the decay is the responsibility of teachers. Our teachers never tried to sleep with us!!! Sobering and disturbing thought when I think of my middle school math teacher. LOL

  • @jimboski65 That was funny:-) Last line made me laugh:-)

  • @cmf4321 Have you ever wondered that because you guys got older and became the parents, today's kids will never experience that? I'm not criticizing, but just think about that.

  • @RoaChc0acH I appreciate what you're saying. Something can be exceptional times and others will never experience that joy. Ex: I'm Jewish. People ask me do I miss not having Christmas. I can't miss something I've never experienced. I guarantee, however, that the joy of Christmas is something that EVERYONE would never give up. It's probably the highlight of many people's lives yearly. The years I grew up were like the Christmas of 2-3 decades our generation would never give up:-)

  • @cmf4321 your major entertainmnt was lsd and you went to psychedelic basement conserts with oil sollution light shows insted of raves. i was born in the wrong era

  • @9Iamthewalrus Funny:-) However, what you are describing was in the 1960's. I didn't turn 10 until 1968...which I can assure you...I missed all the psychedelic drugs and Woodstock. There was alot going on in that decade...I grew up conservative...so I didn't miss much.

  • @cmf4321 I grew up in the 90's and early 2000, and I live in Sweden, me and my friends was always out playing, today no one is... It's sad to see. Well, what can you do?

  • @Morran09 Nämen tjenare!

  • @Hello123995 Men hej!

  • @Morran09 Hallå där!

  • @SwedishPeopleRocks Tjenare!

  • @Morran09 I've never been to Sweden...here in the United States, it has changed drastically. And in a VERY NEGATIVE way. Very sad.

  • @cmf4321 Sad, huh.... what caused the change??? I wish I grew up during that era you describe.

  • @MrMathVideos Every medium is pushing outside the boundaries. Back then, we had limits & we were okay with it. TV w/o swearing & sex. No internet bullying & exposure to scams & porn, etc. Newscasts reporting just the news (it's 95% opinion & sensationalism), clean funny humor, movies that were great w/o the violence & sex, music that was catchy or easy to listen to w/o making it into a political statement or about discrimination. We just had innocent, fun times:-) We miss it.

  • @MrMathVideos BTW, if you want to see a big difference from the 1970's to today...watch how different comedic roasts are. Let me know what you think...watch Foster Brooks on Dean Martin roasts (roasting Don Rickles). Or watch his Foster "airline pilot" skit. Back then, comedians couldn't swear...so they had to be funny with great material. Not like today where swearing & crudeness compensates for poor material. Watch them both & let me know if you find it as funny as we did:-)

  • @cmf4321 Then again, isn't it your Generation that made our current? So now how could that happen ...

  • @ivans No, it's your generation that is changing the world. We were happy with ours:-)Our generation isn't pleased with what is happening to our country...on every level. All of the innocence gone. We were happy without the internet, cell phones & cable. These "innovations" have actually helped our country decline. What's on TV today, people texting instead of talking on the phone (we actually TALKED to people daily), & info on the internet, like porn, harassment, etc..very unfortunate.

  • @cmf4321 if by innocent you mean segregated then have fun with that.

  • @zombie4flesh It is worse NOW then it was back then. Everyone is screaming discrimination even where none exists. Most of the country is SICK of hearing about discrimination. On TV...it's being rammed down our throats. People r abusing the justice system. TV turns EVERYTHING into discrimination & NOT the issue, like you did. YOU proved my point. YOU made it about segregation. Not 1 baby boomer here has even commented on it. Stop being so prejudiced. ..You ARE the problem, not us.

  • @cmf4321

i wish i lived back then, i hate nowadays

  • @xtremanater321 yeah i feel exactly the same. nowadays is crap...

  • @xtremanater321 are you really so stupid that you think that just because you like music from this era that you'd like living in the 1960's? really, think hard about this. you have no idea what you are talking about

  • @AgentCarter What's the problem with the 60's? Would have loved to be a teenager - young adult then...

  • @MrD00M96 racism, lack of technology, lack of contemporary health knowledge, to name a few

  • @cmf4321

i really believe internet fucked things up bigtime. true, internet brought us many great things like youtube, but it also brought us severe addiction, although noone will ever acknowlodge this. before internet (before 2000)--> happy times after internet (after 2000) very fucked up society.

  • @GeileMickey I agree:-) It's sad how many negative things r created by the internet.

Cyberbullying, porn, identity theft, credit card fraud, internet scams, etc. Things that didn't happen when I grew up. I was talking to another baby boomer yesterday & we were laughing. We only had 4 TV channels & it was fine w/ us. Everyone was so busy that TV wasn't important. We didn't stay inside to watch TV or be on the internet. I only know 2 peers that are on Facebook. Most aren't interested.

  • @cmf4321 best comment ever. like seriously im only 11 years old and i really do realize that i missed all kinds of stuff. i like would rather be in the 60's than today. i would love to see ritchie valens perform La Bamba at a very cheap concert. i would love to see elvis Presley dance and sing up there. i would love to see this band perform. i wish i lived in the 50-70s. :-( You are so lucky!!!!!

  • @TheKingCameron

Rock n Roll is DEAD, buddy! Move on! And DO'NT tell any of ye mates this unusual fascination you so evidentally hav wit old music!

  • @TheKingCameron You sound like a very sweet person. Like everyone I grew up with..:-) I hope you find friends as nice as you to hang out with. They are out there:-) I wish only good things for you:-)

  • @cmf4321 Look, I'm a lot younger than you (21, almost 22) and I disagree. Not necessarily about what you said, but you seem a little bitter about the fact that times have changed. You can only live in the past for so long. People and styles and kids will change over time, whether you like it or not. How do you think your parents felt about your generation? I'm sure they didn't like it either. Try to accept and embrace some of the great stuff we have nowadays.

  • @hebewster Be greatful for everything, past, present, and hopefully tomorrow;)

  • @hebewster I'm not bitter..I'm sad for you guys. All of our generation is. All we had was fun. What you kids have to worry about..we didn't have a care in the world. Everything was simpler then. Many kids today wished they were born in our era. You couldn't pay me millions of dollars to give up the life I had when I grew up. We're all glad we weren't born in your generation. Ask any baby boomer. The great stuff?? I can't think of one. Sorry:-( However it is what it is..

  • @cmf4321 yeah you guys had nothing to worry about AT ALL except nuclear holocaust potentially being just around the corner away at any time

  • @Gaiacarra Apparently if you're talking about nuclear...you're not too clear on what years a baby boomer was born in. No terrorist attacks either...:-)

  • @Gaiacarra And BTW...did we miss the nuclear holocaust? (smile)

  • @hebewster The most important thing is to enjoy your life...no matter when you were born:-)

  • After seeing No Country for Old Men, anyone with a 60s haircut reminds me of Anton Chigurh... creepy

  • The Monkeys were awesome! even if they were an arranged Band, they finally took control of there song writing skills an their own way of handling there group!!

  • I LOVE peters smile :D

  • Damn that guys going beast on the tambourine

  • @monkey42299 lmao, thats what i was thinking

  • The little guy looks like a fuckin retard

  • @rogerjohnpete1969 I'm sure we will all be listening to your voice 40 something years after you record it...

Yeah right...you are the fuckin retard.

  • Who gives a shit!! it's a great pop song, written by a great songwriter.

  • You morons realize... that this is fake right? They had no talent. They FAKED IT!

  • @TREVMAC44

they did not "fake it" true they were actors first..but they could play..Jimi Hendrix even "opened" for hem in concert.

  • @TREVMAC44 You realize that the voices you hear are of them and that their music is as much theirs per se, as most music that ends up being pump through the studio recording session is of any artist, right?

But hey, perhaps someone will actually one day pay you to perform...doubtful, but you can dream.

  • @TiminPhoenix Actually you fuck nut, this "band" was made for T.V. purposes. They broke up because the really tall one in the "band" didn't wanna be apart of something fake and meaningless.

  • @TREVMAC44 You are beyond facts. As a total loser, the only thing you can do is whine like the little bitch that you are. You show your command of the subject with the comment of the ages... "The really tall one..." That was was priceless, you limpdick.

  • @TiminPhoenix Davey Jones did actually sing on some occasions.

  • @TREVMAC44 Screen Gems set out to form the monkees for TV. Whilst they did use session musos and other singers. The actors eventually did sing .

  • Thank You for a this music!

  • What up with the guy in the middle lol

  • everyone view my channel and you're so 'beautiful Home written and sung Thanks

  • Did everybody have long hair back in the day

  • @monkey42299 yup

  • @monkey42299 Yes. The Beatles started the long hair and everybody followed their example. At least in Europe where we never even heard of Monkees. At least not back in the Sixties.

  • i love her face,thats agood point...

  • I though love was only true in fairy tales, they are so good! And 369 people have lost there mind!

  • pleace view my channel and you're so beautiful

  • What's more entertaining than a donkey singing this? Watching Davy on tambourine.

Anybody can do the Dougie, who can do the Davy?

  • @JEDI7ACEN I agree!!

  • where's Neil Diamond? on record studio?

  • is that tom cruise ?

  • @pauljcjr Tom Cruise is so hot, do not joke about him, lol.

  • @JPGR2584 Tom Cruise what!?!?!?!?! :) !!!!!!

  • ahahahah the tambourine man is getting down! ;)

  • thumbs if your sick of bands stealing music and making young kids think the covers are original

  • Smash Mouth version sucks, I love this one !

  • I love the part when Mickey said " Uhhhmmm, well alrigth."

  • καλά ε το παιδί με το ντέφι τα σπάει!!!!!!!!

  • this brings me back.

  • can you see one direction in them 40 odd years later? i can

  • VERY GOOD

  • my god! they are out of control, somebody stop them!!

  • 369 people are gorillas

  • το παιδί με το ντέφι τα σπάει!!!!!!!!!!!! χαχαχα!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Neville longbottom on the tambo !!!

  • this version is 1000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than Smash Mouth

  • Good times, I remember these days!

  • and their still a million times more talented then smash mouth :l

  • none of them are "playing" anything, they were a show band. they didnt write their music, sing their own songs or play any instruments (lol well maybe the tambourine)

  • @bretty1887 Please stop providing misinformation, you know nothing about The Monkees. At this time (1966) they weren't playing (except some guitar from Nesmith on his self penned songs), but they always did the vocals. By the time their 3rd album "Headquarters" came out, they were in complete creative control (having dumped producer Don Kirshner), writing, arranging, playing and choosing their own material. By 1967 they were as legitimate as any band, either currently, or of the era.

  • @rutgers1961 there use Don Kirshner had a show.also the midnight special.

  • this video lagged like a mofo

  • elevator music

  • So the lead singer is also the drummer??

  • @macksun no, the lead singer is davy jones, the one with the tambourine

  • "That guy" playing the tambourine is Davy. KNOW YOUR MONKEES!!!

  • How I love Davy Jones(:

  • I loved the Monkees when I was in junior high school but in high school I moved on to the Doors, Country Joe and the Fish and Janis Joplin, I was ashamed to admit that I even liked the Monkees. Later on, I encountered Davy Jones on several occasions and he, on each occasion, was a truly good person! I have only good things to say about him! Anybody who wants to question me about it feel free to contact me. I doubt there are many still alive who are interested.

  • 60,80 and 90 have the best music!!

  • Thumbs up if you think this version is way better than the Smash Mouth version,
