I hadnt any idea that the madness one was a cover. I think that they did a great job of it and all but Labi's singing here is just all together more satisfactory. Theres something more pleasant about using a guitar for the main tune rather then the piano as well.

Labi you wrote a great song here in collaboration with Leo Sayer, I believe.Of course Madness came along decades later and trashed it somewhat.And the shame is, they got all the credit.Still at least your original masterpiece is being rediscovered thanks to the vodaphone ad!
