Hello, I am the curator at the EARM and trying collect film footage from the past of the museum. Would it be possible to have a copy? You would of course be acknowledged. Regards
@boomboxbadboy1 : I'm sure you have noticed how Hoddesdon has changed since I filmed these scenes. The main scene is from the opposite side of the road from The Sun PH and I pan round as the lorry heads north for the Triad centre at Bishops Stotford. The dual carriage way now didnt exist then. The level crossing scene was obviously the BS to Broxbourne line right where the old brick built coal fired Rye House Power Station once stood.
@boomboxbadboy1 Yes indeed but as it was.. not as it is now. The road layouts now bear no relationship to how they were. Where I lived in Graham Ave Brox. there was a school playing field.. Now its a housing estate
Good grief, I was their on that day at Broxbourne Junction. The Bobby used to let me in the box. He flung open the window and stopped them as he thought the engine was too high to pass under the wires. He made them measure it and then arranged an isolation. I was aged 7 at the time. How strange to see it.
The Bobby's son used to drive that loco at Rye House. I remember seeing it in steam there. 7597 eh.
I don't think I've ever seen red wheel rims on a steam engine before - and the combination of wasp stripes on the bunker and that blue/red livery is marvellous. What a wonderful piece of British History saved for prosperity. Thank you for posting this.
Very nice piece of history. My uncle told me of one time when the coal trains from London went all the way to Hertford East and then turned back to Rye House power station, because the siding was on the other side of the line. LOL
He told me of the time a Class 40 pulled up alongside his works in Ware around the time this was filmed, it made a right old racket!
It would be nice to see the trains that ran along the Hertford East branch at this time, if you have anything at all, please upload it!
And this was soon after leaving school to.. First priority was saving the £78 cos then you had to put down a whole years rental to hire a new colour TV. I fancied one of the Murphy 22" coloured cabinet sets but they were not for rental.. So we got a 22" Philips.. and then I joined the group to buy our local steam engine.. I was sorry to see it sold but thats democracy!!
I hope it will be running again soon. Anyone have an idea of when?

Fascinating journey. And it's great that people like you and your friends saved steam locos like these. All credit to you.

Very nice! 5*****!
I don´t know, what´s more cool:
1) The locos
2) The styling of the truck that is transporting the loco
3) The street traffic (vehicles)
4) The steam crane
