  • Anybody know a store in vancouver that has a nes cuz I got a third party nes but I would what to have the original nes

  • my game isnt comming out

  • I almost thought you were a girl by your voice. No offense.

  • Sorry my phone has t9 word crap on it I totally screwed that last post haha

  • If you keep ur James clean blowing works but bot the old blow method you have to do it a certin way click my channel to see this method I do it to four games they all work I could do this to all 100 some games I have they all work using my method

  • Blowing doesn't hurt your game I've dome that for years on all my games they work fine. Click my channel watch my video on how to make your game work

  • That's not fixing the problem for the flashing lights!!

  • thanks alot you saved me alot of trouble

  • you need a new game console man those times have gone passed along time ago

  • new pornographers intro theme?

  • @teleshaka Yes! You are a winner, sir!

  • @TheNEScollector you have good taste

  • You could also just put a new 72 pin collector in it :P

  • thanks man this helped alot!! :D

  • wow, it worked :O lots of thanks :D

  • ... or if you're really anal about "blowing" into your system/cartridges, you can go buy a can of compressed air...

  • Blowing helps if you just do dry air I used to bang my cartridge on my leg to make it worl

  • Life saver! Just about to sell my NES and it wasn't working! Thanks mate!

  • your a fucker

  • Thankyou so much bro!!!!

  • awesome thanks man...now im going legendary in some blades of steel

  • Thank you this helped alot

  • Top Gun? REALLY?

  • Thats so much man!

  • This was very helpful, thanks!

  • @arrowcrest42 The moisture in your breath can cause the contacts to corrode.

  • great tutorial but top gun? blegh

  • good job kip! works great!

  • I didnt know there were all these videos explaining that.... when I get back home I will check if I can repair mine! havent been able to play for years and years

  • Your tirck didnt work on my nes

  • Blowing on the game doesn't break it, it just doesent do anything

  • The blinking light is caused by the 10-nes chip not connecting with the game right it thinks it's a pirate game and resets the system

  • i love you thanks alot tytytytyty i can finnaly play super mario this kid gave me the consol for free cause it was broke he thought

  • well you look at that, just look at it. All you can do is just look at it!

  • Well! I take it didn't work for you? LOL........ I'm not laughing because it didn't work I'm laughing because the way you put it.

  • I use 2 things to clean my carts...I use a product called CRC Electronic cleaner...used in automotive electronic control modules and such...very sensitive stuff...but the cleaner does very well...and for stubborn stuff, pencil eraser...and a new 72 pin connector for my system...and cleaning games before inserting them...works everytime...

  • how the hell is blowing it going to damage it? that makes no sense

  • Someone hasn't hit puberty...

  • @mglandrover fuck you faggot

  • Thank you for this video! You're a life saver! :D

  • You sir, are quit stupid. Blowing on it is not bad for your game. Alcohol is not bad for your game. Windex is bad for your game. Go away please.

  • @MrSelfishKing Blowing on your game does nothing. Really. The dirt that builds up in a game is stuck very well to the pins on the cartridge. the only reason blowing on it "works" is because you are pulling the game out of the system and putting back in. Alcohol works, but if any backs into your cart, it could cause damage. Also, I said you shouldn't use Windex. Wiemen's Cooktop Cleaner is the best thing to clean your games. If you have anyother questions please go to NintendoAge(dot)com. Thanks!

  • @TheNEScollector Wait you said you could use Windex but it dosent work the best, and you can use rubbing alcohol, any liquid could get in it, because of this im not using advice from here. Not to be mean

  • @MrSelfishKing Bro your stupid you dont even know how to spell "Quite" Right Pshshshhhhh

  • @MrSelfishKing Blowing on carts is bad because moist will blend in with the dirt on the edge connectors. Now, who wants that?

  • i found a way to permenatly (probably didn't spell that right) fix the blinking light with out having to wiggle the game... if anyone wants to find out how just ask on my channel... it really works...

  • i went to a game store that sells nes games and a employee told me to use finger nail polish removal with a q tip do it, it works

  • @MegaHaloMonster No. It could destroy your game. Nail polish remover is fair to strong and can damage your contacts.

  • @TheNEScollector The contacts are either gold or copper depending on the game. Alcohol and nail polish remover WILL NOT hurt it.

  • @MegaHaloMonster

Yeah seriously, Acetone will eat through metal eventually. It's destroying your games.

  • Achohol is very good and ok to use are trying to get people to buy nes cleaning kits lol

  • @TheNEScollector

Thank you a lot! it worked for me!

  • @RestlessTomcat if AVGN reviewed it, it doesn't mean that the game is awful

  • thank you good sir! you totally helped me out there.

  • So, i have two nes, both seem to blink alot, so could it be the system, i just got one in the mail wo a lot of dusty games, amd i have another that i havent used in years, so just do this?

  • @TheNEScollector Why your blinking screen is blue

    and mine is grey!?

is this difference linling to year releases!?

    reply!:D

  • @GeniusRKO39 Differrent systems blink different colors. I don't know why. My toploader blinks green. It doesn't really matter.

  • @TheNEScollector I recently opened me grey screened NES

and found the gren chip said 1987, so i thought it could be the release matters,

also i maybe thouight the 1st 1985 model was the blue screened one, like you have!

    reply!:D

  • @GeniusRKO39 Okay, I did some research and found that NES systems released before 1988 will only flash blue. But all systems after 1988 will flash different colors depending on the mapper of the game you are playing. Mapper 0 flashes green, Mapper 1 flashes grey (I think), etc. Just because you had a chip in your system labeled 1987 doesn't mean your system is from that year. Your system should have been bought after January 1, 1988.

  • @TheNEScollector What if the screen is green??

  • @TheNEScollector then maybe it is an 88 reissue, Darn!!!!

but does that mean the original 1985-86 models blinked blue?

You're Sooooo lucky! (if the 85 model blinked blue), but isn't the 1985 label the original release?

    reply?:D

  • @GeniusRKO39 Yeah, the "original" systems flash blue. I'm not sure what you mean by 1985 lable, but the system was released in 1985.

  • @TheNEScollector Well, as ya previously replied,

the green chip label was teh reference.

    ex... c1987 nintendo , on a 88 grey screened one; c1985 nintendo·, on a 85 blue screened one.

    is thet trew?reply, cuz i'm so exited!!!!XD

  • @GeniusRKO39 I really don't know. I don't even have that NES anymore. Just my Top Loader which is from the early 90s.

  • @TheNEScollector oh how awful, i feel sorry for you,

does thet meen your nes died after this review?

    Reply :o

  • @GeniusRKO39 No, I sold it.

  • @TheNEScollector ''BARNACLES!!!"

how can i identify a ness that7 has blue screen

    w/out unscrewing it?:(

    REPLY.

  • You dnt scrub really hard tht could really damage the pins

  • using windex and then the dry side of the cutip work? or does that corrode the pins?

  • ALSO, all of my other games work...

  • Ok, so i do that. I have legend of zelda in there, and the tittle screen goes, but it still flashes, as well as the light. Whenever i click reset, it just eeps on blinking...

  • @RestlessTomcat no the landing part sucks

  • No, No, No, No! You need to go inside the Nes and break off a certain pin in the lockout- *Sigh* Everyones a retard....

  • @SuperDuperCrazyDude Disabling the lockout chip should really only be done as a last resort. This video was meant for people who want a simple fix. Taking apart the system is somthing most people don't want to have to do to play their retro games.

  • Mine went white.

  • u guys when there is no game in the nes it will flash the red light how come my screen is grey not blue?

  • yes rinry did a sweet video on how to make games work, weird mine goes green, when i have to wiggle it

  • Hmm. I use Windex on all my cartridges and they work great. I even took apart my NES and cleaned everything with Windex. lol Still works great. Worked better then it did before I used the Windex. Thats for sure.

  • Thanks I really needed that :)

  • My (former) bibliotherapist had an NES. It took meetings to fix his nes. unfortunately, he has one game, Excite Bike. I fixed this game like this: I didn't push the cartridge down. it worked.

  • shit dont blow in them.... that was like my ultimate fix when it didnt work when i was like 5...... shit... 0.0

  • These r the places were u can buy nes systems for cheap garage sales, flea markets, salvation army, pawn shops, thrift stores of places were they sell donated things. So yeah wait for summer break for garage sales to buy old game consoles

  • THANKYOU SO MUCH i just bought my nes today at a flea market and i couldnt get it to work and now its working thanks to this video

  • Yeah, this works fine. Thanks!

  • since when has top gun been a good game

  • this may sound ackward but the only NES game i have that works without flashy light is the game that came with the nes. weird

  • i blow and blow to no avail lol , i have to use the slow and steady technique

  • everyone blows on their cartridges, most of people, and I used alcohol for all my NES, SNES, N64 and MD games, it works fine, but I use ethyl alcohol or known as pure alcohol, very volatile.

  • i all my life i use air from my mouth and no one of my games is damaged... so that is a myth

  • @LCardoso17 yup, the only way it could be remotely close to damaging the game, would be if if you happened to blow some spit inside, but that would mean you were really careless as well. blowing not always helped, but these are good strategies, the wiggling bit is the only iffy part since it does have a chance of damaging the game and system, other than that, nice vid

  • @SorvahrSpahr shure shure... i don't do it all the time and i take care to not spit inside, of course. when I have time and patience i use just a dry swab...

  • @LCardoso17 gotta say though, i miss those days lol. i really need to find a nes of my own. most gamers who experienced a nes surely know that ancient art of cartridge blowing lol. did you buy yours via ebay or something? or is it still the one you bought years ago?

  • @SorvahrSpahr Actually I use the NES that i give to my girlfriend not much time ago (perfectly boxed and all that)... I got it from the store were I "work" (repair, test, etc) xD that is a store dedicated in collection videogames (just retro videogaming stuff)... But I'm pretty shure you can get one on eBay, of course it is risky and not secure some times...

  • @LCardoso17 damn you're lucky xD gonna start hunting around for one, thx

  • @SorvahrSpahr I know I am xD good luck then... If you need help tell me ;)

  • @LCardoso17 thx man ^^

  • @SorvahrSpahr wait... your portuguese... a loja é em portugal xD

  • Mine blinks even when there is no game in it and I don't even get a picture on my tv, no games work either... Can I fix this???

  • @TheEagleOfTheNight It should always blink without a game. Otherwise try what i do in the video.

  • @TheEagleOfTheNight

If it blinks while its on and has no games means you left it on.

  • It worked man!!!!! thanks

  • what if the light is blinking even if there no game in?

  • @JacobDeadman it will always do that, that's totally normal.

  • Comment removed

  • Just asking: i've got a NES. Tested WITHOUT any game (don't have). When i powered on, the power light blinks and there's that blue screen. Is that okay? Don't know anything about my NES, i just seen and bought it for 5 bucks.

  • @bbankrablo

Okay, forget it. Finally got a cartridge and works fine!

So: it's okay if you try without cartridge and the blue screen appears with blinking power light. :)

I answered my own question. :D

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks it worked.

  • Thanks!

  • i use 409 al purpouse cleaner and it fixe zelda yay

  • and that wont ruin it, scratching it with a cutip. I dont see how a simple blow will hurt it. It's just like putting the game in a simple breeze.

  • top gun gay game

  • you are like : /

  • all i did to fix my nes it take a pice of paper and opened it up and put it in the connector. then move it around. it gets cleand and it works!

  • actualy. alcohol WONT dammage it. the cartrage just tells you so you buy the nes cartrage cleaner.

  • mine is flashing green

  • dude.. you can damage the cartridge with the wiggeling... it might work, yes. But you can damage them !

  • @ronnipekken Im not doubting you, but I don't see how that would hurt the cart. It might hurt the leads in the system if you do it way to much, but if you have to wiggle the game, then your leads are already bad, so it shouldn't matter. right? (not being sarcastic)

  • Why not use alcohol in the first place? Anything that can clean the contacts is good.

  • Great vid but i have a problem. I have a legend f zelda game i bought in the flra market. ( i havent tried your steps yet but i will) and the game has rattling in it like loose sediments in it. Is there a way it can still work or is the game busted? I hope not cause i spent 5 bucks on it

  • @Theycallmedsp if its just sand it should still work, but if there is a chip that broke of inside the game, your screwed. if you own a bit for a NES game, try to pop it open and see whats going on in there. Dont be afraid youll break the game, you wont.

  • I fixed my nes, now I'm gonna play me some metroid!

  • thanks this actually worked quite well for me

  • Excellent video dude, thanks for sharing!!!

  • Thank You So Much TheNEScollector you have saved me NES i just want to say your one super awsome dude and Thank You So Much!!!!!!! I hope you accept my friend request

  • Scrubbing that hard isn't really necessary, all it does is get cotton stuck in the cartridge.

  • My screen flashes black and white do you have any sugestions for what I should do about this?

  • @123john123john123123 Do you own a really NES or a third party one? If you own a really one, try doing what I say in this vid, If that doesn't work, you could always disable the lock out chip, but that can be a bit of a big project if it's your first time working with electronics.

  • @TheNEScollector Yeah I actualy do not know if it is or not I disabled the lockout chip, (CIC chip) and now it is just a white screen so I think It is a problem in the inner workings,

  • @123john123john123123 If your console's power light flashes, it means the console doesn't recognize the cartridge as an official cartridge (that is, the lockout chip is preventing it from working). If it is a solid color (I've seen white, green, grey and blue), it's because a connection isn't being made.

Either way - Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.

  • omg dude you're the coolest person ever, im finally able to play Zelda, the greatest game of all time (and be able to read its really bad grammar) All thanks to you!

  • I have two games, when I put them on the NES they go to start Menu, but they are always restarting... Other games I have are fine... any advice? Games are Damage?

  • @NoNickNoKick sometimes this can be fixed by simply pressing the reset button when it happens. If it still doesn't work, try cleaning the game

  • @TheNEScollector okay dude im sorry but you CAN use alcohol and imo its better than using something as strong as glass top cleaner. Windex is definetly the best option but alcohol will work just as good as long as you use no more than 70% isopropyl...ive used both alcohol and windex and both work absolutely fine..alcohol WILL NOT damage ur carts. carts r very durable and takes more than some rubbing alcohol to do any major damage thats for sure

  • WOW, don't use alcohol?

    well guess what smart a**!?

    WINDEX contains ALCOHOL.

    Props for that call man

  • @berylliumshiver well dumbass he said dont use windex

  • @rockstars9241 Actually he said windex works but not the best

  • @berylliumshiver Windex contain Amonia not alcohol. Who's the smartass?

  • @berylliumshiver You can use alcohol in NES games. It just says you can't on the cartridge so that Nintendo could sell their pointless game cleaning products. I clean my games by using a q-tip and Windex or any other cleaning solution and it works just fine :P

  • Some say that blowing on the cartridge is a bad idea because the moisture from your breath damages the metal inside. Is this true?

  • @Ajace1000 You want to avoid moisture in old electronics, definitely. It's not quite as damaging as some people make it out to be, but for long-term endurance and maintainability? You want to do something similar to what this person does, though nowhere near as rough as in this video. I'd be amazed if this kid does this commonly and somehow didn't damage a pin somewhere down the line. Make sure your pins are dried afterwards. And DON'T USE CLEANERS THAT CONTAIN SOLVENTS.

  • @PlantainHurricane Yeah, this information is just.. bad. That glass cleaner is a mixture of all kinds of chemicals that can be corrosive to copper contacts. Rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs work just fine.

The warning against alcohol on the back of the cartridges is simply a heat issue. If it gets too hot, the alcohol could burn. But it won't.

Oh, and you don't really need a new 72 pin connector. These things are twenty years old. They need to be cleaned.

  • Some say that when you blow on the cartridge, the moisture from your breath will damage the metal inside it. Is this true

  • Yeah, it's ok to use alcohol. It just has to be Isopropyl. :)

  • blowing in them hasn't damaged them in my twenty years of playing, and a clean qtip has worked just fine too

  • MY SCREEN TURNS YELLOW BLUE GREEN GRAY WHITE AND RED

WAT SHOULD I DO ....should i follow wat ur doin?

  • @BASSHEAD89030 How do you have your system connected? with the RCA cables (Red, White, Yellow) or with RF (Screws into TV)

  • @TheNEScollector

BOY YOU R A FUQING GENIUS IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YOUR I.Q. MUST BE 150

    but realy man thanks alot

  • blowing in the games does not damage them and i wouldnt call wiggling a cartridge fixing an NES.

  • thank you! it worked on the very first try!!!!!!

  • wow thumbs up i didn't think this video would actually help but IT DID!!

So thanks i gave it a thumbs up and a "LIKE" BTW i did the Windex trick

  • OMG I love you!!!

  • actually you can use achohol nintendo actually got sued for putting dont clean with achohol on the cartrages

  • @uldeskoolgamer sued??? lolwut

  • man i use some windix to clean my games and my nes stop workin what shoudl i do ?? some please help

  • @swl9380 well, you could try to get a new 72 pin conector, but the problem could be the mother board.

  • thank you :)

  • vid helped but top gun fun??? i hate that piece of shit

  • @chickendeuce54 Top Gun is fun, the only problem is that the controlls are weird when you land the plane, but once you get used to them the game is fun and easy.

  • 1. You can just take it to play n trade to get it fixed.

    2. It's good to blow into the carts because it clears the dust out, and that little moisture in your breath creates an electrical connection.

  • my screen is green when i turn my nes on

  • @wargamemaster

Me too! I always thought that I was the only one getting a green screen! lol

  • @crazyfooInc yea i thought i was the only one to
