  • @merfwriter

I feel like a kid again watching my cartoons on an 80s TV set. Heathclliff, Looney Toons: The Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Show, and Transformer cartoon movie.

I love it i love it i love it .

  • well, last year 1982 is the limit,, this year, 1983 is a year older LOL So every year id move my year limit up ! LOL

  • @LeisureCentury Beta Picture quality was Supreme! I dont even think DVDs can match Beta quality!

  • looks like a microwave :D

  • and now I'm crying with nostalgia. I have a 1984 zenith space command with the remote. still works and I love it. but because I hear that these converter boxes screw up old tvs- it has been inactive for a while. I love my ancient TV set.

  • Old electronics rocks

  • The worthless piece of shit bastards at the American FCC and the Canadian CRTC are talking about phasing out UHF channels above 50.

  • There was one of these from '85 in my local Goodwill yesterday for $8.

  • @Nokorola Also I wish the major networks would still have station identification (7:19) every so often.

  • @Nokorola i got one similar for free out of the dump area at a retirement high rise today!

  • @Nokorola you can usually find them on the street for nothin on trash day,,, just wait, about 10 years from now, these flat panels will be out on the curb too ! LOL

  • You are right, Beta kicks ass! I might just do a video of my Betamax SL-10 showing stuff from 1997.

On another note, I had two System 3 TVs-One was a 1984 model with the speakers on the side (gave to a friend Some years ago). The second one was a 1986 model with the flip down control panel (Unfortunately, the picture control failed and I had to get rid of it).

Some of the best TVs I had were Zeniths! Thanks for the show and tell.

  • What do you mean? I used a VCR in this video.

  • i want one of those, it looks like they have strong tuners, like you said you didnt have a antenna hooked up and those channels came in pretty clear

  • Older TVs do have much better tuners. But the really good ones are the true analog tuners. I remember one night I was picking up UHF stations from Canada (about 150+ miles away) with just a loop antenna.

A shame in less than a month now that I have to use a converter box to do anything over the air (although I plan on building a small TV transmitter).

  • the same goes for vintage am fm tuners right, i wonder with all the new was to make things for example radio tuners i remember back then i had to use a speaker wire and i got sations far away now with the new technology the way they build tuners now i have to use a out door antenna

  • @russellsteinhauer I noticed that on older model tvs and radios, the reception is great, but on the newer black case models, you cant get crap! I think the newer models were built with the thought in mind that everyone will have Cable!

  • Sony Beta was my first video recorder, it was the first model. Great picture. Great that you got another 1984 Zenith, it looks so clean and works perfect.
