- but terror and horror and sadness and stress to the lives of others and yet we maintain them in the 'mainstream' and yet people who are so called 'disabled' are secreted away and ignored. People who only bring joy & experience & humanity to others but because they are'disabled' their contribution is considered less than. I wish the world would embrace its peaceful people & shun the people who want to hurt & overpower & destroy THAT would be a legacy to be proud of. I aim to help when I can.

We want society to have a complete mix of people to give creativity and beauty and a variety of skills that each adn every individual brings as a human being. To discriminate and alienate is so prehistoric Im already embaressed for the future centuries when people look back at this day and age and are disgusted and angered and shocked by our treatment of each other. I have never heard that they used to say in the old days that if they let black people into public schools they would be letting in kids with disabilities next- what horrifc discrimination to my ears!!!! To imagine that the world is full of people of all colours & abilities who hurt other people in the most horrifying ways & they are tolerated as part of life & society & granted freedom of speech & power.Yet people - good people who come in all manner of designs have to fight daily to function-
Wow! What an empowering story. Thank you for sharing it. I work in a school with a high-functioning, autistic child. This student is such a great kid, so smart and friendly to everyone. I am in love with my student! His classmates love him, too. It is true, there are adults who have more of a "disability" than these children. Rock on, Samuel! What great parents and brother.
I am taking the Educational Assistant Program in college right now. Before I started college this year, I didn't really want to talk to people with disabilities. Now, this program has really opened my eyes and made me realize that people with disabilities are people too. I watched the full "Including Samuel" 58 min video for school. It was actually good that I had to see this video(for an assignment). Samuel seems to be such a cute kid.
I am an actress and activist for performers of physical Diversity, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and denied it for the longest time. Now I live openly and hope I can help bring attention to inclusion-this is indeed a global civil rights issue. I feel often alone in this journey, so I am so thankful to have stumbled across this video. Samuel is adorable and being a spoken word artist in Toronto's urban community: I found Keith so inspiring. All the best and many thanks. akimi
I saw this video in my Teaching Children with Special Needs class and it is amazing! Samuel is absolutely cute and his parents are admirable in their fight for inclusive education!
Thank you for posting this video preview. I am in a Master's of Education program at Regis University and we have used this video in our class called "The Exceptional Child in the Regular Classroom." as an excellent tool for understanding the importance of inclusion and acceptance of children with differences. Thank you so much for making this documentary! It will help educators nationwide understand more clearly our own precious"Samuels" in our classrooms.
My 10 year old son has mild learning disability. I enrolled him in his home school district a few months ago for 2008-09, to be included in the general classroom with assistance. Special ed said that the school does not provide what IEP had outlined and that he should be in a self contained classroom. For me IEP is made to determine what is his weaknesses and assistance needed and not otherwise. This is my son's home school district! his community! Our taxes pay for his education. Please help!!
Dan, I want to say that your video shows the world what an amazing father you are and how much you care and want the best for Samuel, education. We all want that for our children. And inclusion is the best. I am looking for help for my son to beat the prejudiced system, why we should not have to fight for our rights, and entitlement. This should be given without any fight for we pay taxes and this is where it should go: our kids education. THEIR RIGHTS!
Samuel and his family are amazing I have been working with children and youth with disabilities (mainly physical) for going on 9 years now and I am only 17 I wnat people to see that children like samuel are just like us they just do things differently
This is a great video. My son is in Samuel's class at BMS, and I love how he talks about him the same way he talks about any of his other friends. I am sure Barbara O'Brian's accepting, matter-of-fact attitude goes a long way toward helping the kids treat others with disabilities in an accepting and matter-of-fact way.
This is a very empowering video. Thank you for sharing.
Sanuel is and his family are awesome. When looking at inclusion please remember the teacher in tears. This is something that is extremely hard to do. Mom of a 38 year old mentaly handicapped son.
Wow! Wonderfully done!

From what I know about schools teachers need to learn more than the kids do! Especially when it comes to disabilities!
