  • thanks so much, this is very helpful

  • THANK YOU!!!! Now things make sense. I studied We never got around to study the past particle, so .. it isn't much different to conjugate!!

  • i would like to mention something.. de (they) is not pronunced as it's written,,but something like ''dom'' :)

  • @bellxena correct! "De" is only used when writing :P

  • THAT'S WHAT I NEED IT BRO

THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH

    TACK

  • so the verb stays the same for each pronoun as opposed to french (with the different endings like -ons for 'nous' and -ez for 'vous'. What is the 'det' and 'den' mean, they both have the same translation, also is there an informal way to say 'you' in both plural and singular?

  • @eaglesgogirl

It is the "it" article for the two genders of nouns (neuter and common) en for neuter and et for common.

  • N.B in sweden some might find it offensive if you call them "ni" instead of "du".

The formal use of the word you ( ni ) is not used nowdays exept when you are talking to the king etc.

Everything would sound stiff if you used "ni" instead of "du"

  • are there iregular verbs in swedish?

  • Wow, Swedish grammar really is that easy!

  • @Achilles94627 yeah, it is! hehe

  • @Achilles94627

Don't get your hopes up just yet. We have 12 different definite article endings, which must all be learnt individually for every noun. The trickiest part of the swedish language. :)

de, den, det, -a, -en, -et, -men, -met, -n, -na, -nen, -t

  • @CecSwe tack s@ mycket! Jag beho:ver en ny kam fo:r att go:ra nya videor lol

  • the g in gick is pronounced like an y(or a swedish j).

  • I know ... jag hade fel :P Tack haha

  • okej jag förlåter dej XD

  • the G on "gick" sounds like a H so like this hgick but you spell it gick you know what im saying?^^ love your vidoes :D

  • ja, jag vet :P sorry for the mess-up, guys! Tack!

  • You are forcing things out again :)

    Det.

    Try pronouncing it : Deet

Do the E just a slight bit longer.

  • Okej! Just a little longer... thank you :)

  • okej hehe

  • First of all, fantastic videos!

I really look forward to see you speak swedish flewently! :)

I just want you to notice that the "g" in "gick" sounds like the "j".

    Fortsätt så, du är jätteduktig!

    Hälsningar från Sverige

  • Tack! Yeah, I forgot and feel stupid ... and I don't want to re-make the whole video, so I just typed that in the description :P men tack! Hur e det? O, thank you

  • Hehe, things that happens.

Det e bra, tack :) Själv?

  • whats the difference between "ett" and "en"

also do you know what "ju" (swedish) means?

  • "en" and "ett" are like "un" and "una" or "un" and "une" hehe. EN is common and ETT is neuter. Like masculine and feminine. Actually, I do nor know what "ju" means. Do you? :P I need to know, haha. I ask, but they can't really tell me. They say it is an extra word.

  • ett tåg - tågET (a train - the train)

ett bord - bordET (a table - the table)

en säng - sängEN (a bed - the bed)

en katt - kattEN (a cat - the cat)

it's already decided whether a word shall have an "ett" or an "en" in front of it. as a matter of fact, this is one of the most common faults in foreigners do when they talk swedish. and i am sorry, but i dont really know how to tell the difference between the two. i think it's a thing you just need to learn by heart.

  • for example; it would sound really weird if you said "ormet" (the snake). the correct verision of this word is "ormen"

when the words ends with a vocal, you usualy put an N in the end.

en penna - pennAN (a pencil - the pencil)

sorry if i've confused you, this is just the way it is. :)

  • when it comes to "ju" it is even harder to expalin. the word "väll" can also be used instead of "ju"

you usually use this word if you're assuming something. like; "det börjar ju klockan.." (it DOES start at.. o'clock)

    that's a definitive assuming.

when it comes to "väll"..; "det börjar väll klockan..?" (it start at .. o'clock, RIGHT?)

    this is more questioning..

so; there is no exact definition of "ju" and "väll" in enlish

    ju = definitive assuming

    väll = questioning assuming

  • Wow, that does clear up a lot! Thank you so much! I understood "väl" a little, but not so uch "ju." Tack för allt!

  • you mean so that "ett" and "en" are both undefinite articles but with oposite genders depending on the word?

and i can merge them to the end of the word but still working as a preceeding article, at least thats wat ive gotten :|

  • no,

en and ett are not masculine or feminine, cuz you still say "en kille, en tjej" whish means; a boy , a girl

thats the thing, you cant have any rule for it. you've got to learn each word by heart.

  • hmm well i just knew this now

tack dig i alla fall, måster jag efter denna söka ;). förståde du

    im just learnig it :P

  • no hehe, fattar jag :P

Yeah, most (if not all) living things are EN words, tror jag

  • it's true :P memorization :> flash cards help out tremendously! :)

  • Thank you for making these videos, they are extremely helpful. :)

  • ingen orsak :>

  • seriously, you are reaaallly good at this! jag förstår inte hur du orkar!

just one thing i feel a need to correct; "jag gick" and "you gick"

the g in gick has a j-sound. so instead of saying "gick" you say "jick"

  • okej, thanks!

I thought maybe so, like "ge", but I have heard it pronounced with a G like in "gata", so ... ??
