  • Plain and simple: get the fucking word out. most people i talk to who dont smoke are clueless about cannibis and its "harmful effects". just speak about it and prove it

  • Amazing, isn't it, how the sudden spike in drug use by teenagers coincided

with a President being elected that was an admitted user. Kids could say:

"Hell, I can be a doper and STILL BE PRESIDENT!"

Personally I believe all drugs should be legalized WITH the caveat that THE

USER takes ALL responsibility for their habit. No "rehab", no taxpayers

footing hospital bills for OD's, nothing. YOU TAKE IT, YOU DEAL WITH IT.

You dumb enough to OD, you don't even get a free burial.

  • lol I love how people call america stupid well %45 of drugs made in the world come from america and %2 from everyone else

    %45 is big number

  • 1:39 :o

Way to go you fuckin' tards!

  • THIS IS COMMON SENSE,....BUT YOU ARE STILL LOCKING US UP IN PRISONS !

  • Damn! Walter Chronic brings the heat! Tellin' how it is. This man has BALLS.

  • @arrayfx YOU MEAN HAD BALLS .

  • "Land of the Free"

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • war on drugs = money making scam.

  • to mister Cronkite and the producers of this program you have my respect

  • respect to mister Cronkite and the producers of this program

  • respect to mister Cronkite and the producers of this program

  • I hope Obama can sleep at night, knowing that he sanctions the needless deaths and imprisonment of thousands. it's such a fucking waste, and all for some insane moralising attempt to regulate a fundamental aspect of human behaviour. the whole thing just makes me sick.

  • Read " common sense". Who is the government to tell us what to consume?

  • those interested in the concept of self-ownership should read the book "naked lunch" by william s burroughs.

also check out the book "179 things to do until the revolution: the freedom outlaw handbook" by claire wofle

  • Addiction is NOT a crime! If an addict commits a crime then he/she should be punished for the crime. If half the money wasted fighting our so called "War on Drugs" was spent on methadone clinics and treatment centers we probably wouldn't need military tactics to try to interdict smugglers. Our civil rights might remain intact and we wouldn't need about 1/3 of our prisons. Addicts are people with a problem, they are NOT criminals. We must learn the difference between Use and Abuse...

  • Methadone is a big problem courtesy of pharmaceutical corporations. Morphine should be bought from Afghanistan by Drug Companys. NO heroin on the streets, no funds for terrorists and no need for synthetic and more addictive pain killers. But I agree with you 110% tax dollars should be spent on education, prevention and rehab. Not on jails.

  • If there was a war on poverty rather than a war on drugs or terror the US would be better for it.

Fact: The rich use less drugs than the poor despite their economic situation.

This is because when your poor life sucks and you think drugs help you so it should be logical to put more money in education, thereby giving people more opportunity which effects if a person has to live in poverty or not.

All you have to do now is not be so fucking selfish and help each other to curtail this problem.

  • slingblade65 = cool aid drinking douche bag. Just to clarify for anyone considering debating him.

  • Fuck this goddamn dead liberal-every Vietnam vet that fought for this country should have shot him in the damn head

  • By the way their were alot of drug users that fought for our country in Vietnam. Our soldiers got a hold of a lot of heroin due to Vietnam's opium fields. and there was alot of pot smoking down there too. So the 420 crowd actually fought your bullshit war.

  • Wow! The truth is scary...

Too many people make money off of drugs to ever make them legal. Average Detective or DEA Agent makes more than a mid level drug dealer. Average Prison Guard makes more than a successful street dealer. Judges, Prison Wardens and Defense Attorneys make as much as a Drug "Kingpin". Everybody makes a LOT of Money, except the poor guy who get's 10 years for holding 3 grams of rock...

The "Drug War" is Capitalism at it's finest!!

  • alot of drugs need to be illegal... just not weed :)

  • There is no "war on drugs". If there was then alcohol, tobacco and prescription drugs would be illegal. Heck, even coffee would be illegal as it has mood altering effects.

Prohibition is a giant scam that only benefits the governments who support it and the dealers.

  • All well spoken with a minor disagreement that it benefits the governments I don't believe that part, it costs the government tens of billions of dollars with no/little results maybe 3% of the drugs (that's just my estimate not a direct statistic) are found the war on drugs only benefits the drug dealers and the DEA everyone else loses money by paying more taxes, and having more gangs in their neighborhood because gangs are primarily funded by illegal drugs.

  • it doesnt cost the government anything... it cost taxpayers. the only money any government has is "taken" from its citizens.

  • Can we all agree to call America's wars what they really actually are? And that is America's Wars That Never End.

  • i do agree

  • It's funny how prohibitionists stubbornly refuse to even talk about this issue and act like their answers and solutions are like common sense that everyone knows, as if what they are doing is the natural default response to the problem. but it is simplistic, lacks objectivity, and real intelligence. Anyone that does the honest research knows the prohibitionists never win the argument, they wimp out like spoiled btrats and refuse to continue. The WoD is a corporate ruling-class lie.

  • ya wars are great ...

  • there is a war on nonviolent occasional marijuana smokers dumbass and it's been going on for about 40 years with no results.

  • yet retards have been wasting there time trying to get it legalized for over 40 years. Move to Canada, red eyes

  • you're a moron

  • No. burnouts are morons. 420 morons

  • Okay, I challenge you to prove your point in a debate about drug legalization (I support legalizing all drugs, heroin included). If you win, I'll concede that I'm a moron. If you ignore me or lose, then you're the moron. Sound fair?

  • ...I challenge you to shove your own stoned head up your ass and get a clue

  • Is that a no to an intelligent debate? If you refuse a debate, in effect, you concede that you are the moron.

I do not use illicit drugs or even drink alcohol. By the logic you employ, we are all black because we support the rights of black people.

  • Heroin legal-LOL ! Pretty much proves that liberal home schooled idiots like yourself are the true morons of the world. Perhaps a heron needle stuck up your left wing ass would feel good

  • Sorry, attacking me for homeschooling and being liberal (which I'm not, I'm a libertarian) is an ad hominem fallacy.

I ask you to provide a valid reason for illegalizing heroin. Second, I ask whether you support alcohol prohibition.

  • Awesome another libertarian with common sense.

  • The reason few people voted for Ron Paul is mostly due to media bias and ignorance. Anyways, how is that an argument for prohibition? Oh yeah...it isn't...just another stupid ad hominem.

  • No, permitting people to express sovereignty over their bodies, which THEY OWN is not 'batshit crazy'. Point out one idea of his which is 'batshit crazy' and we can debate it. Of course, you'll probably refuse because you're a willfully ignorant coward.

As for media bias, how come he only got about 1/2 of the questions that everyone else got in the debates? Why don't you search YouTube for "Ron Paul media bias" before you make yourself look stupid.

  • You must be joking, I think your joking you can't even give any logical reasons for supporting the war on drugs, I really want to hear your arguments man. So please enlighten me as to why I should support the war on drugs and I will listen as unbiasedly as possible.

  • Peew Peew

  • Peew Peew

  • @slingblade65 canada doesn't have drugs legal either.

  • "non violent marijuana smokers" is BS-That's pretty much propaganda from the 420 idiot crowd. Fact is, stoned hippie fucks are the first to riot and have taken more from this country than have given back

  • Really? there are more alcoholics in this country than marijuana addicts, alcohol is a far more dangerous drug I would know I nearly died from an overdose.

Stoned hippie fucks? I have know 3, 3! people who had problems with marijuana I have known over 50! alcoholics, alcohol has done a hell of a lot more harm to society, but I would never tell YOU you couldn't drink.

Alcohol kills over 125k people per year. Pot:0

I would LOOOVE to see some of your evidence about pot being worse than booze.

  • Why do burnouts always compare alcohol to weed ? It's lame as hell-you guys are just comparing one stupid fuck to another stupid fuck in a feeble attempt to make 420 morons look better

  • Well, first of all you probably will disagree with this, and anything else that I will post but I have only used marijuana 7 times, the last time I used it was November of 2006.

Why do I compare alcohol and weed? I compare them because alcohol is more dangerous and harmful to society and it's legal, and marijuana is ilegal and harmless.

You can go to Iraq and have bullets wiz by your head but you cant have a joint Thats what I call morality over reality I'm calm, and you are cursing your headoff

  • Again comparing one drug with another-stupid as hell. The classic "420 moron" excuse to legalize

  • You think I'm a "420 moron?" I don't care man, I'm not, and It really doesn't offend me when you use such talk. In fact I enjoy it because you make the "loving conservative christian" look like a complete hateful fool.

Again I haven't even heard your argument on why marijuana should be Illegal, so if you have some sources, and reasons to keep it illegal, then I would be more than glad to hear them.

Prohibition failed, the war on prostitution, drug use, and war on personal firearms failed also

  • Is that a reason not to legalize? No, you still haven't provided one. I could just as easily argue that coffee shouldn't be legal because it can be compared with other drugs.

At least you're making prohibitionists look like complete fools.

  • Again with the overuse of the term "prohibition" *YAWN* Why do all you stoned idiots sound the same ?

  • You want to prohibit drugs, the act of prohibiting is called prohibition, no?

  • im assuming you are either a conservative or a troll. if you were a TRUE conservative, not a neocon piece of shit, you would believe that government doesn't have a place in the personal lives of it's citizens.

if you are a troll: bravo.

  • @slingblade65 I am so glad right wing squidbillies like you are a dying breed:D

  • Hey I got a question for y'all republicans...How does Reagan's rotting dead cock taste?

  • The War on Drugs is bullshit....I am a teatotaler and I know that. Walter Cronkite has balls...God middle whitebread America fucking sucks!

  • Of course its bullshit. But its not "middle whitebread America" that profits the most off of it. Do some research before you shoot your mouth off.

  • So, Jimmy, how do you reconcile your conservative beliefs with Cronkite's expose on the huge, ineffectual money pit that is the war on drugs? Surely you aren't for the government pouring billions of dollars into a program that not only fails to make any headway, but is actually counterproductive. Look at Portugal's decriminalization program, which has been a huge success by virtually every metric. How do you justify the war on drugs, when no war at all appears to be the best solution?

  • The answer is that you've been conditioned to blame liberals for all your problems. Both parties are the problem. The republicans doubled the debt in 8 years, but you criticize liberals for spending excessive amounts of money because they actually obtain it first; you actually feel the pinch. You're going to feel the pinch for the money the republicans squandered, too, but they're counting on the fact that you won't connect the dots, because there are more than 2.

  • zwróciłem uwagę na torby ale nie musiałem się uszczypnąć

  • You are a dinosaur if you think the media is liberal. The media is a fat, bloated panda, rolling on it's back and farting happily as long as the government feeds it and rubs it's belly. The second it gets a mind of its own, it gets put down.

  • You're quite clearly a right wing nut. So pipe down.

  • Lol, how uninformed

  • Phar40h and JimmyFormerMarine make me sick to be an American. Walter Cronkite stood by is beliefs and made them known in a massive way and still held the respect of the American people.

  • I don't know you, I don't know the work of this person.

I just came here by a total hazard. However I drop by to tell you this : You're a arrogant, disrespectful hater. You should start reading the Bible.

Which page said that wishing people to go to hell is to be done?

Then start to think where you did see that hating America or being a communist must lead you to hell ?

Please keep hiding behind your computer if you wish but do not spread hate in here for no obvious reason.

    Good day

  • Yes, because people who exercise their first amendment rights "hate America", and therefore burn in your imaginary hell. YOU shame America, not Walter Cronkite.

  • Rest in peace. Your work will never be forgotten.

  • RIP....

  • Sadly, Walter Cronkite's well-reasoned, intelligent dialogue is no longer on American TV. Is there anyone out there who can fill his shoes? Or are they simply too big to fill? When Cronkite dies, I pray ethics in journalism do not die with him.

  • Good timing.

  • like I said you're the idiot. what's insulting is to call a man an idiot for telling the truth. He's backing up his argument with facts. more than you are doing. why should drugs be illegal?

  • lol...good statement...Walter Conkrite, a man who has been known, by popular opinion polls, as "the most trusted man in america"...is an idiot.

i have to say...for you to assume that you are on a high enough level to call Conkrite an idiot...is in and of itself idiotic.

    Pride goeth before a fall.

  • Imagine if you and your friends could have gone and gotten help from doctors and counselors without fear of retribution from the authorities? i wonder if you might have been better off.

  • and that was your choice to do that sir you made those decisions all we are saying is to mant NON violent offenders are in jail when they should be in rehab it has not been working for so many years why not legalize putthe money into schools ask anyone they will tell you weed is easier to get then beer for me and im 25 odd u say well no place i know around here delivers beer sameday as far as the other drugs they are real bad but people addicted to them need help not prison

  • We are in Afghanistan protecting the poppy crop for the old Russell Trust boys. Better known as Skull and Bones.

  • You know what is amazing. I see dozens of videos highlighting the epic failure of the war on drugs. But how many have I seen on the success of the drug war? The same as the number of total deaths caused directly from cannabis use.

    0...zero...zilch...nada

Show me one video that can prove this war on drugs is a success. You just can't Wave the white flag America...this is one war you cannot win.

  • fuck the police! Im smoking ganja in front of a police station. Free the weed :]

    HURRY UP

  • relegaize ganja

  • Obama we nominate Dr. Nadelmann, for Drug Zar. Makes sense America, we need to begin to make a lot more sense than what we are now doing. This War on Drugssssss, IIIIS crazy!!!ooooooooooooo

  • all i got to say is, L.E.A.P.

  • bigdog, youre a cop right? i think i remember we've talked before. anyway, doesnt it frustrate you, (and make you wonder), that despite the resources being devoted to this war on drugs, it seems to make zero difference in our lives except maybe we pay more in taxes to incarcerate ever greater numbers of people. yeah sure every once in a while they show us the big 30 kilo bust, but it doesnt change anything. plus lots gets through and i cant help but think that's by design.

  • thats it, run the country into the fucking ground! that's it! harder!

  • this man was the last true network journalist. i miss him but i'm glad he's gone because if he still worked these days, he would be fired in about 5 minutes for telling the truth...not rupert murdoch's truth...the REAL TRUTH.

  • amen!!!

  • but hes still alive isnt he.?

  • Richard, you seem to really know your stuff! Thumbs up and a high-five to you.

  • This dude is cool!

  • And this was aired in "95"! If people in general were aware of present Drug War incarceration statistics it would make them sick to their stomach! This is 2008! The Drug War is WELL KNOWN to be a dismal failure and we as thinking adults need to make our politicians aware of our knowledge to this and our condemnation of such draconian drug laws!

  • "If cocaine could be legally purchased addicts would break into stores to steal it".

Of course they would.. that is undeniable. However, this is not a good argument for banning the substance imo..

People break into liqour stores to, however we realize that is the lesser of the two evils..

Gang wars, children getting caught in the trade, vs. someone doing a non violent crime, breaking and entering..

Do you think osama bin laden would be so rich if it weren't for the war on drugs?

  • Furthermore, it seems like a slap in the face of justice, to punish one man for another man's doing..

Ie. A crack head decides to break into a pharmacy, therefore all crackheads MUST be punished..

Why not wait until the ACTUAL crime occurs, then punish them for that particular crime, seems like a better sense of justice to me..

Down with pre-emptive strikes, imo it makes you look like that bad guy.

  • I've actually now come to believe we should probably just let every substance be sold and tightly controlled at a state level. People are still going to do it no matter what and will always have a source.

  • No more than an alcoholic will brake in grocery store to still a six pack of beer. But how frequently do they do that realy?

Obama we nominate Dr. Nadelmann, for Drug Zar. Makes sense America, we need to begin to make a lot more sense than what we are now doing. This War on Drugssssss, IIIIS crazy!!!ooooooooooooo

  • is it really the lesser of two evils??? OMG, do a ride along with the cops and tell me that. MOST ALL domestic violence calls result from courage in a bottle.

  • @lonelyboy03

Well, we saw how alcohol prohibition worked out.. Organize crime wen't up, and unregulated bathtub gin made people sick.

Regulation, is by far the lesser of the two evils..

  • if cocaine could be legally purchased there would be no reason to break into stores to steal it...they could just buy it and not go to jail.

    just like money.

  • I seek, I seek.

  • Forget the anarchy, I was really just nitpicking. I just dont understand how this relates to the video.

  • I dont where there is proof of that and I dont know what that has to do with anarchy.

  • The Darwinian law of NATURE (not the jungle, whatever that is) does say that the advantages a creature has allows it a better chance to pass on its genes. Civil law is human invention created by our powerful brains that can think in abstractions. Still don't know what that has to do with the war on drugs.

  • Anarchy is not the lack of philosophy, it is a philosophy all its own, born directly from the creative human brain. None of this has anything to do with whether or not the drug war is successful. Unless you are suggesting that fighting the drug war is wresting order from chaos. In which case, I would say, order should be brought by the people not against the people.

  • Anarchy means no (an=no) archy (archy=system of rule). Anarchy is not jungle-law. It just means that there is no system of rule. Anarcho-collectivism is an example of anarchy that is not jungle law, but rather the rule of collective decision making. Contrary to the human abstraction of rule, animals that live in social groups exist in hierarchical arrangements with systems of rule determined by a variety of success factors related to the spreading of ones own genes.

  • None of what you said has anything to do with whether or not animals live in anarchy, nor does it have anything to do with what I said. Nothing I said puts any comparative value on either humans or animals.

  • What beasts in the jungle live in anarchy? Animals that live in social groups (hyenas, baboons, apes, elephants) have hierarchical societies. That is specifically non-anarchical.

  • If drugs were legalized, then they could be taxed plus most drugs would then be grown here instead of being imported from outside the nation thus ruining our economy even more. Not to mention our illegalization of drugs help support terrorist and rebels in destablizing and over throwing foreign governments. O man, is humans so STUPID!!!

  • I think one of the main reasons many governments refuse to legalize it is because they can't tax it. There are so many independent sources and entrepreneurs that the governments may have difficulty competing. Take Marc Emery for example.

  • That is incorrect. At least here in the United States anyway.

  • There's millions of drug war pow's in the american gulags.. muted by cinder blocks, disenfranchised, and unable to even vote to correct an unjust law. Most get that syndrome where captives sympathize with their captors. Most have families that have to go on welfare further crippling the economy.

  • I declare we don't have to abide by unjust drug laws, because our right to the pursuit of happiness is inalienable.

  • When I watch shit like this I'm so glad I live in Amsterdam.

By the way, the CIA is the Cocaine Importing Agency... the 'war on drugs' is meant to increase the prizes and thus their profits.

  • Lets not muck up a justified argument with conspiracy theories.

  • And Mike Grave will stop it too. There's actually a human running for President in each party.

  • I used to agree, but now I see only one human running - Mike Gravel!!!

  • The man to stop the war on drugs is Ron Paul

  • really? if you haven't since you wrote this, dig a little deeper and see the one that would get the job done.

  • its all in the first 2 mins: Drug use CANT be stopped and ppl are dying in the crossfire. I'm a victim of this drug war and so are YOU.

  • I misspelled a word becuase I've used drugs in past. So shoot me... or better yet put me in a cage for the rest of my life so ppl can profit from my incarsoration.

and Yes, I am defensive...I'm fightin a WAR.

  • I am, too. I was "caught" for having overseas codeine--for a valid, diagnosed neck injury--and am on 6 months' probation.

The only reason I'm not in jail is because I'm white and rich.

If I were black and/or poor, I'd be in jail.

How the hell does that serve the public interest?

  • Let's break it down. It all boils down to a battle between the Puritans and their hired glorified Security Gaurds (the police) vs. everyone else. The tough guys should be conducting a War FOR Drugs, just like the oil war. They should be kicking ass to ensure prompt delivery of our drugs and oil to keep us all happy and turn this country into what it was meant to be, an awesome place to live!

  • Wow, this was done 12 years ago and drugs are STILL illegal??? WTF?

  • YES! Spark it up, Walter!

  • we win as we long as we stay the course :)

  • What! if your saying what i think you are saying(ATHEISTinHELL) you obviously are confused, at the least and at most a fucking idiot. " stay the course" sounds like Veitnam and Iraq, and that worked so well.

  • @bee11111111111111111

it was sarcasm thats why i ended it with a smiley emoticon

  • Legalize the damn stuff. Those 10% who want it use it everywhere anyhow. If the whole societies are in danger to fall because of it, so be it. The only self-destructive species is called humans.

  • This war is a waste of our already "burnt out" resources! Quit wasting money on senseless violence and deprivation!

  • For an example of how legal drugs would effect the nations population and economy please listen to the insight of the 20th centuries greatest economist Milton Friedman.

Search the name Milton Friedman and watch.

    It will all make sense.

  • It will stay this way until we demand change.

We must show others that the drug wars is far worse than the alternative.

Legalization and regulation of ALL drugs is the way to save America.

Take hard drugs and place them in hospitals so the addict does not have to rob and steal for cash.

Give the addict drugs but also give them access to therapy and rehab WITHOUT legal implications.

Save billions in taxpayer money and release all non violent drug offenders form jail.

  • this is eactly what i have said, people are to stupid to listen

  • I dont understand why were wasting money on a war you cant win since ppl of all walks of life do drugs... And were actually cutting funding to programs like medicaid which helps old ppl get medicine!! HAS AMERICA GONE INSANE???

  • The war on drugs is a war on people. End the war its senseless and futile.
