  • Not too bad. Really. Next time, rough sand, adhesion promoter and then high build sand-able primer. Much smoother end result.

  • where is the fiberglass you only put the epoxy on it and the steps between the sanding paper is way to big let me give you some advise do not take steps bigger than 100 and use 320 grit than 400 grit or 500grit thats aceptebel than move on to 1000 grit its easy while sanding and its faster . anyway its stil a nice job

  • You didn't fiberglass anything. All you have to do is sand it smooth and paint it. Using resin isn't needed on hard plastic like that. Smoothing the vinyl you sand the vinyl off and use resin and glass mat to build it back up for the smooth look.

  • i did it came out so fuckin good no cheap sand paper no cheap paint and u will be so surprised lots of sandin use bondo for bigger dashes tho kinda hard to get super smooth but that depends on how good u want it to be thanx for the vid

  • @thesnowboarderX i paid close attention to what you did and i think its brilliant... You didnt use any type or fabric or anything. You applied the fiberglass directly to the platic. I can take your same recipe and perfect it a little, so thanks, i really appreciate it...

  • @Mr1963chevy

Well if you actually paid attention here..it clearly says THE POOR MANS WAY...so if it looks like snot, im sorry not everyone has the skill or time to make it all pretty and shit.im sorry its not good enough for you, ill try better next time to make it work for ya mrchevy...

  • okay, the pro's do this....get some BullDog, its an adhesion promoter. shoot it, let it dry. shoot some primer surfacer on it...let it dry. hit the primer with 600 and your ready to paint. done. the fiberglass will only let go after awhile due to different expansion/contraction rate between plastic. (guaranteed you guys are putting this stuff on your daily beaters...)

  • Im confused. Why did you even glass it? You basically added double the work to the project. Just sand to the smoothness you want, prime and paint.

  • @HiJackZX1 yes that is easy way to do it. but without an electric sander it would have taken me forever to sand down that dash, it was pretty rough and textured. the glass also gives it a much more smooth feel anyways, ive done it both ways now on more than one car and the glass is by far the best outcome ive seen.

  • @TheSnowboarderX ABS and Polypropylene Plastics used in car interior are A LOT softer and easier to sand than fibreglass. If you want to make a textured piece of plastic smooth, sand it with rough grit (e.g. 100grit), then apply some filler (bog), sand it smooth with 200grit~ (yes you can do this by hand. Just takes more work), then high fill primer, sand again with 400grit~, then paint your color coat.

  • @TheSnowboarderX

you aren't fiberglassing. that is just resin.

  • @stupidplants poormans way...got it?

  • @TheSnowboarderX

    the fiberglass is cheap too...

if you want to simplify this use body filler

  • @HiJackZX1 I'd say he did a great job considering it is for a Dodge Neon. Bodge job, bodge car.

  • @jaystyles007 Hey, dont hate on Dodge, lol. I drive a 2003 Dodge Durango SLT and its awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Just got fiberglass my dash to integrate 2 screens.

  • i think i might do this to my 98 chevy lumina cluster bezel

  • @GhettoInnovationsDX

Go for it, its cheap and easy, really improves the interior look of your car

  • @TheSnowboarderX i am gonna do it if u see i n my vids its missing a piece lol

  • ahhh basically? it wasn't shiny to begin with. it was this really weird grey and it was bumpy.

  • So let me get this straight: you sand down your shiny black dashboard, cover it in layers of fibreglass, sand it down again, primer it, and then... paint it shiny black...

  • @aaronfromhastings yeah, but before it had a texture to it. now its smooth. at least thats why I think he did it.

  • this is not fiberglassing...you didn't use fiberglass!

  • U didn't have to even "glass" it. Sand it down to get your grain out of the plastic, then high build primer and sanding then paint. No need for resin at all...it was a waste for u

  • @jeridwdshc yeah ive learned since then. but hey this worked. plus from my experience it gives it a much smoother feel to it. but the high build primer will give the same shine to it

  • @jeridwdshc hey man wats up i been tryn to do a lil reaserch on how to go about this an ive herd of sanding the grain out but my ? is wat if you have a few minor sun cracks in the peice wats the best way to fill them thanks??

  • @SwiftTaylorKill depends how bad they are i guess, i know i had some one time and i bought some fiberglass mats and just covered the dashes up as best as i could, and then used the resin on it. did an okay job, its alot cheaper then buying the real stuff

  • citroen :P

  • never mind

  • whats the name and where did you get the fiberglass? i am only 13 and i want to do this to my crx

  • Very nice.man

  • @GeorgeJogo

lol man...learn how to use proper grammar then you can bash what i called a poor mans dash.... =)))) back at ya

  • @TheSnowboarderX

    Use google translate :))

  • looks good . next time just use high bulid primer and put a few heavy coats then sand you will get the same results with out using fiberglass it will save you money and time
