Many people around the world define the 60s narrowly when the decade was deep into the music concepts and rest of the art. A sonic revolution that picked the anger's times very well-crafted into a special kind of nirvana. Many people who never became famous musically left an heritage very valuable in recordings that many people don't know how to appreciate even with musical studies in high level. JeffersonAirplane became big because they caught the feeling into a unedited and unbeatable sound.
It's great to hear this once again. Listening thru the "Takes Off" LP on youtube. I already know the album sequence of the songs thru repeated listenings from my highschool days, when I had this LP and most everyone else was getting into disco.
I still care and feel the same way.
Well....maybe now I can stomach some disco songs a little better. Even disco has a few tunes that've survived 30+ years.- which I doubt will be said of what is being produced today.
@2000toddowen Yeah always amazed at how the young- uns are listenin to funk bigtime...clinton, james brown,.....and 20 yr old deadheads know every tune....none of them seem to know who the airplane were!!!?? What gives
The first time I heard this album...It was at my home town library back in 67 with a pair of really bad headphones....my mind took off...with a pair of bad headphones..the power of the airplanes was and is still on the vinly....!!!!!!
Listen to those guitar riffs and the folk harmony. The Airplane was an Icon back then.

Somewhat of an odd, awkward ending - but a quality song that was great to hear again.

Totally underrated early Airplane. The best on the album. The Marty songs, in my view, were usually the better ones.
