I remember this. i use to pass those tanks on the way to school in green point an was always amazed by them, i was sad when they imploded them. also how weird is it that you could see the twins towers after the tanks were imploded an just exactly 2 months after the tanks went down that beautiful skyline in manhattan was taken down to, what a shame

I left Maspeth in 1997, and missed that...but I heard about it. How cool that I could finally see that. They were the markers I always told people I live by "Then you drive on the LIE, I live near the gas tanks."

I agree. I remember always seeing those tanks from a distance when I was a kid. I used to love them and used to call them the 'Twin Tanks'.
