  • wow, their accents' are so british i couldnt understand what they said lol

  • you prick

  • O I got one of these now,

Well if you're that defensive about a band, it should be rather obvious to you that Suede have a lot more to offer and that's why I hate "Trash", "The Beautiful Ones" and that brain numbing tune by the name of "Starcrazy". All way too much lalala and ahaw for me. It anoys me how clever & tasteful they are and how hard they try to hide it.

Although equally dumb, at least "Savoir Faire" is a lot more fun than that lot.

    O and, yo mama's a prick.

    Ta, Luv.

  • what's the prob with the "lalala"... It's catchy... Did you know that their first mainstream sucess was the "Coming Up" album? Pro'lly not... 3 of their best songs are in that record: Trash (the major hit), Beautiful Ones, and "Saturday Night"... try to learn a bit more about music...

  • How condescending...

Well, lucky for me I don't measure quality based on sales and I'd really dispense any lessons in music from you. Particularly since your comment -if anything- clearly shows how little is your focus in music.

O and perhaps you'd like to include Pink and Celine Dion in your music collection?

Aparently, they sell millions worldwide... whereas I couldn't be bothered with them.

  • wrong... i really don't care about sales... you got it wrong.. "mainstream" isn't just about sales. It's about airplay, OPINIONS BY THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND ABOUT MUSIC... back in the 70's, 80's and 90's the mainstream kinda reflected music quality, something that really doesn't happen nowadays, this explains you missunderstanding. for your information, pink and celine dion are not in my fave artists... my focus in music is total, and you really should try to learn a bit more about music...

  • Then offer more interesting arguments than number one hits and worldwide this and that. And my dear, airplay is all about who pays the more money to get their bands aired, alright? So don't give me that.

Even if you were a musician, even if you'd been a member of Suede or even if you're in music journalism I doubt that you're in any position to teach me anything about music.

I know from Suede. As far as I'm concerned, "Trash" is dangerously similar to the Eurovision Song Contest material.

  • let me tell you something: i was trying to be nice with you, and when i said "try to learn a bit more about music" i didn't said I wanted to teach you anything. You're insulting Suede saying "Trash" is Eurovision material, a wrong statement.

  • For christ's sake, it's not like this is personal. It's not as if I want to kill the band because they dared doing something I didn't aprove of, or something.

And "try and learn a bit more about music" sounds really condescending, sonicadv27

  • oh well.. sorry if i sounded condescending... i'm not saying you wanted to kill the band... but you have to admit that even considering that you don't like Trash, there are a lot of songs worse than Trash... i can onlyconlude you didn't like that change of sound the made back in 1996 with that Coming Up album... let me guess, you don't like "Obsessions", do you? XD

  • I love Picnic by the Motorway from COMING UP.

    I didn't buy A NEW MORNING.

But I liked "Atitude" from the hits record.

  • well i'm gonna buy "Suede", "Dog Man Star", "Head Music" and "Sci-Fi Lullabies" this week. I can't find "A New Morning" anywhere, but i'm gonna keep on searching. (it's pretty difficult to find something that's out of the mainstream here in Portugal! omg) But i can say those albums are good, because i always to try to ear some of the tracks before buying the album (i don't like getting disspointments XXD)...

  • Dog Man Star is probably harder to listen to.

It's a less single oriented album.

  • With you in mind, what I gather from your preferences...

I'd start with "Suede", then "Sci-Fi Lullabies" and then I'd give "Dog Man Star" a go.

  • it's true that it's really wrong to judge music by the sales, but you shouldn't hate hits, even more when they come from big artists, like Suede...

  • you know? let's stop and face it. I think i know why you hate Trash so much... Trash is not that kind of song that usually comes from Suede. Suede's original style was pure rock, and people thought that was their real style... wrong... their style is britpop (the alternative rock from the UK).

And so... here you have it: a pure Britpop song... "Trash"! Of course that original style is included in BritPop music, but they decided to make a pure britpop record, like Coming Up.

    ...

  • i can now conclude you don't like Suede's britpop... But Trash is one of that songs that can't be listened having in mind that it is a Suede song. Is one of those songs that could be by any artist. As a Suede song, it might not be the best, but as a 90's Britpop (rock) song, it is a perfect masterpiece. That's why i said it could be probably their best song... I think i made myself clear.

  • I believe in freedom of choice, Therefore, if you love it, go for it and more power to you.

But I also get chose something else. What I feel is that they made some very serious material and when "Trash" is put against it, it's just too... easy listening for my liking.

  • great, you got it! That's exactly hwta they wanted when they recorded Trash: an easy-listening song. But didn't just made a easy listening song, they made a hit. And tell me, what's wrong about easylistening songs... This is a good easylistening song, not a bad one...! And i'm not saying i only like Trash, i love more other Suede songs... not only hits...

  • Coming Up has some beautiful songs, Mr.

And by the way, I quite like "Saturday Night"

(ahaw whatever makes her happy... note the "ahaw" right there). It's catchy and very well done.

    How do you explain that?

  • great, you gave me a good example.

Saturday night is actually another easylistening song. Not because it's a pop song (because it isn't), but because it has a easygoing chorus, that easily gets into you ear, and makes you wanna sing along... That's another anthem, a perfect song to make the crowd sing along with the band.

  • It's a ballad.

Very 70s rhythm, rather Bowie vibe/Ziggy Stardust period.

    And a soothing vocal melody.

  • O and quite a nice arpeggio on guitar.

  • oh yeah it is...

  • Listen, in my opinion. And again, in my opinion... no one else's:

    LAZY

    FILMSTAR

    SHE

    PICNIC BY THE MOTORWAY

    SATURDAY NIGHT

    Those are all good.

  • i have bought "Coming Up" XXXXXD. I'm a quite recent Suede fan, you know? "Coming Up" is my only Suede album...

  • Well, then enjoy because you're in for a great ride.

  • and let me be say why i love Trash so much:

1st - it was the first Suede song i heard.

2st - i think it's a perfect Britpop song, the perfect mix between pop and rock, two music genres that combine perfectly.

3st - it's actually one of that songs that you link to Suede. (i was listening to it and my dad said: "oh, you like Suede, too? great song.")

    4st - it's catchy, infectious, a true anthem...

  • But it's probably Suede's worst song ever. Eurovision Song Contest piece of... pop tart.

  • it's probably the best, did you know?..

  • Sorry sonicadv27,

But after feasting my ears with:

My Insatiable One * To the Birds * Where the Pigs Don't Fly * He's Dead * So Young * She's Not Dead * The Drowners * Pantomime Horse * Breakdown * Metal Mickey * Heroine * Daddy's Speeding * The Asphalt World * Saturday Night * She * Picnic by the Motorway * Europe is Our Playground * Have You Ever Been So Low? * These Are the Sad Songs * Indian Strings

... this sounds like a pale attempt at a high chart position. And the album is good.

  • ok, but "Trash" is a worldwide hit. Those you're mentioned are not... Along with Trash, other hit singles, those that, even you don't know suede very well, can be recognized as Suede songs, are probably "The Wild Ones", "Beautiful Ones", "Stay Together", "Animal Nitrate" and "Can't Get Enough". I might be missing some other great singles, but these ones should be a good example of what a great hit is... You hate exactly their best songs...

  • Look,

Anyone who trully knows from music gets into it and develops a taste for more than the singles, because if that's all a band has to offer then the band is rather poor. Even artists get tired of being asked to only play the singles.

What you talk about is marketing; promoting a band, mass recognition through a hit single, a photo or a media scandal. Music is the least of their concerns.

And funny how unknown those songs are, because everyone was singing them at their shows.

  • thanks for uploding, Great!
