Yeah, why compare greats. Zep's music was heavier so Bonzo's feel was heavier. He did what the music called for. Same with Bunker...the feel was a bit jazzy, so he played what was appropriate. Either way, ALL these guys were groundbreaking pioneers, who in my opinion, developed the art of guitar rock, and perfected it. Everything that came later was either emulating or crap. As far as Page goes...few topped him in vision, feel, soul, diversity of style, and sound and recording techniques
I agree, Tull was terrific, Great tune. I've seen them in concert several times. Better drummer(s) and guitarist than Zeppelin? C'mon. The band was quite something but why do they have to be "better than" ? Let's see, John Bonham , Jimmy Page . I don't know, I cannot agree with that.
Yes, a great Tull tune. Glenn is a SICK bass player. Tho I think Barrie[more] has the edge technically over Clive. Barrie and Glenn played on one recorded Tull tune, Aeroplane, but it would have been interesting to hear how the two of them would have played Thick as a Brick, etc. They might have got in each other's way, actually. Jeffrey was a simpler straightforward bass player, and gave Barrie room.
They were the opening band for Led Zep at the San Diego Sports Arena, and so wowed the audience that the headliners got booed off the stage. As a live act Tull ran circles around Zep - better showmanship, better (IMO) guitarist, and of course, a much better drummer. Uh, errr...drummers, I mean, if you count Barlow and Craney.
@trassca I can tell you he really IS. I met him and had dinner in San Pedro, CA where he lived....he signed everything, was gracious, loved talking about the Tull days, and told him he was my first concert...biggest mistake Ian ever made letting Glenn go....! Funny guy!!!
@trassca , I wholeheartedly agree with your statement. He certainly gives it his all. Reminds me of Vincent Crane from Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Atomic Rooster, both play with intense virtuosity.
I count 14, OK, don't count Ian, and you get 13. I see Clive kneeling down in the bottom left of the picture. I can't tell who every one else is. Is Abrahams and Glen in the picture?
Glenn Cornick, why didn't you played on Thick As A Brick and Aqualung? :((

Yeah, best rhythm section Ian ever had, shame he couldn't/didn't keep them. And I want a drummer named Clive just so I can say I've got one.
