We need to resign ourselves to the fact that our legitimate federal and state governments are no longer in power. The fed/state bureaucracy government is in power. you don't get to vote for them, you don't get to vote them out. Real cops, fed,state,county, even FBI can't kick in the doors of a guitar factory with no warrants or charges, but The EPA can. close the state level of this bureaucracy now. America did fine without it for almost 100 years, this is where state sovereignty went.

This doesn't matter if it's along a four lane road or cul-de-saq. However, it seems like these people got letters or warnings and did nothing about it but ignore it. There is such a thing as requesting a zoning waiver or variance. We don't know the whole story here but sure sounds like home owners and the suburban mentality of entitlement.
@raykar2 if you watched the video you hear that the gentleman and his Representative both responded with letters when they received certified letters about the removal. Seems like they did ask for a variance or waiver - but no response came, except the response of the arrival of equipment to remove the poles. Plus, we are entitled to due process and private property rights; those are not bad things.

Normally I oppose petty use of power, but in this case the items were being removed from the RIGHT-OF-WAY. Who owns the right-of way? Most cities will come along and remove unauthorized structures in the right-of-way, with or without notice. As for "grandfathering" in most states there is no right of adverse possession when the encroachment takes place on government property.

I live in Britain at the moment. The Local Council (Government) came and tore a tree out of my garden because one of it's branches stuck out over the road. This road literally had average traffic of 1-2 cars an hour driving down it, they said this posed a risk of causing a crash and death.
If the branch had have fallen (even though the tree was young and healthy) all it would have done is cause 10 seconds delay while someone moved it off the quiet street so they could drive past.

Normally I oppose petty use of power, but in this case the items were being removed from the RIGHT-OF-WAY. Who owns the right-of way? Most cities will come along and remove unauthorized structures in the right-of-way, with or without notice. As for "grandfathering" in most states there is no right of adverse possession when the encroachment takes place on government property.

I live in Britain at the moment. The Local Council (Government) came and tore a tree out of my garden because one of it's branches stuck out over the road. This road literally had average traffic of 1-2 cars an hour driving down it, they said this posed a risk of causing a crash and death.
If the branch had have fallen (even though the tree was young and healthy) all it would have done is cause 10 seconds delay while someone moved it off the quiet street so they could drive past.

She didn't lie, but she wasn't clear. When property is confiscated, you have to go pick it up. If they tow your car from an illegal parking spot, they can't just move the car a few feet... it has to go back to the lot.
The problem is the law itself. If the law exists, (and people complain) it will be enforced because they have to respond or there will be hell to pay for not responding to a "legitimate" complaint.

@floridaman2000 In residential areas, there often are no sidewalks, and people have to walk in the street to get anywhere. Cars that go in those areas are already driving slowly and looking out for pedestrians. On top of that, this one was in a cul de sac.

WTf? Laws tell people what to do... end of story. Don't fucking think because the government "is a slave of the PEOPLE" that laws don't do that. Laws say you can't walk around naked, have a basketball pole near open traffic areas, or buy a nuclear warhead, for... arguably... good reasons. You don't like it? Elect someone who agrees with your reasons, or GTFO.

There are laws governing what laws can and cannot be passed. Not all laws have good reasons behind them.
"OBEY THE RULES" is the pre-operational morality of a child who has not yet developed the capacity for his own internal moral compass. Children don't yet have the mental capacity to distinguish between right and wrong on their own, and they need someone else to tell them what not to do. I would hope that adults knew better. Sadly, it appears your moral development is retarded.
