Imagine if they would have made COPO Novas in 69-, imagine this : SS Body in beginning with 396 for example, removed SS badgets and stock engine, Front disk brakes, Cowl Induction hood with removed Cowl Indu-emblems, no stripes, any COPO Camaro colour available, 350 emblems and details from 350 Novas available to make it look like an 350 Nova, ZL1-engine with high comp pistons and headers, twin dual pumpers available, engine visualy changed to look like an 350, painted, 350 emblems to confuse :)

The ZL1 Camaro was indeed faster than a Hemi Cuda and Hemi Challenger, thats with the regular wedge heads.

Well it would come down to the driver. In testing however, the Challenger could run 13.0, whereas the Chevelle ran 13.2 I believe. The Chevlle is heavier though, so that probably explains it

haha that's cool. I'm probably a Mopar guy, but I love Chevys just the same. I like Fords to. I don't just appreciate one of them like some people. I drive a Dodge, but I'd like a Chevy for my next car. Only thing about Ford, is that the Mustang is a bit overrated in my opinion.

@Zando24 Not trying to start a fight but if you look buick plymoyth and corvette had cars in those years that would run 120 to 130 depending on the day/driver. That is a low to mid 10 sec 1/4 mile all fairly matched. Lets not forget the yenko camaro did have a respectable time of 13-13.5 not bad for the day. Either way I miss these old cars!!!!!!!

The only thing holding a lot of these cars back significantly were their transmissions.

I think a 1969 COPO Camaro with a well-worked transmission could possibly do around 170-175 MPH, given the 427s made around 500 horsepower.

very true there gear ratios only allowed them to quickly accelertate not top speed. but if you take a modern day 6 speed trans and rear end omg that thing will go about what you said 170 ot 170 mph probably faster to say the least.
