sal, Lets assume I own this widget company, At the end of the 4th year the machine is worthless, as you showed. Is it possible for me , as the owner,to decide to keep the machine because it works. In other words, rather than me getting a new machine, can I not make a decision at the end of Year 4 to keep the machine for another year? In this case would it mean that the depreciation of the machine won't show up in the Income Statement, the Balance sheet or the Profit and loss account? Thanks

The only one thing to notice. In Europe there is actually no difference between amortization and depreciation.
