  • some asshole at school owns a white 2000 camaro z28 and wants to race me..... i own an '86 944..... i shall post this on his wall to save myself the gas ;)

  • Im in the works of building a 16 valve motor that will have the best of everything in it bottom up.theres alot of corrections to these motors that should be made.imo baffle, crank scraper the pan to deep, add squirters cause some cylinders starve oil on hard turns.dayton sleeve cylinders cause those walls suck and cant be trusted.bypass some of the bosh relays like the fan they suck 2 and cant b trusted

  • The turbo and the s models are the same class the na 8 valve is in its own class. The turbo is faster but the s models have less horse but rev better in and out of turns with no lag.so if you really love racing and want a really good feel for a porsche buy the s or s2

  • 944 turbo vs n/a, no competition... Totally different cars.

  • camaro z28 must have been automatic stock while the porsche had mods and lighter weight THE CONVERTIBLE made it too heavy

  • Deutschen wissen, wie man Autos baut.

  • @motox1556

Die Deutscher auch wissen wie zum Amerikanisches Autos schlagen!

  • Camaro seriously needs a driver mod...

  • @MichaelMisanthropist

    It wouldnt have mattered really.

  • @MichaelMisanthropist Not very fast.... Look at my video's beating a Turbocharged LS1, LS3 Vette at low boost. You should see what happens at high boost levels. With just a tune I was dead even with a 1994Chevy Camaro Z28 with the following mods.. Hot Cam Hardend Push Rods Edlebrock Headers Roller Rocker System Full Exhaust Port and Polish MSD Coil and Ignition Lightend Flywheel 3.73's No stock LT1 is beating a 951, I have a video racing a LT1 Trans Am with 373's and other mods. take a look.
  • @Piperporsche180944 You sir have a freak 951, how much HP are you putting at the wheels? Do you have the stock turbo? Idk how you're pushing that much power out of a 4 banger. What mods do you have?

  • @MichaelMisanthropist

311rwhp-4XXrwhp depending on the boost setting, I have set the car from 15-22lbs. Right now I have a LR MAF, LR Wastegate, 55# Inj, Manual Boost Control, a Garrett 61-1 Turbocharger... Essentially I have full bolt on's, stock longblock. Its a pretty peppy car ;)

  • @Piperporsche180944 All the 944/951s here aren't that fast. Plus I live a stones throw away from Lindsey Racing lol. All the Camaros I've seen on your channel are at low boost though.

  • @MichaelMisanthropist

I can understand a LT1 walking a 944 NA but as my experience proves it would not beat a 944 Turbo. Do you ever stop in and see Mike and Dave?

With a 10.1:1 compression ratio, 5lbs of boost is pretty significant mid/high boost depending on the volume of air the turbocharger supplies. Either way, that LS1 at 5lbs would put train lengths on a stock LT1.

  • @MichaelMisanthropist easy to get 300 out of a 951, with a chip and maf your on your way, maybe a downpipe and an exhaust your set. Porsche tuned this engine up to 450bhp for racing at le mans , the only reason it was detuned to 217 was to keep it out of 911 turbo territory, cuz a 50 thousand dollar cheaper car stomping on the 911 wasnt something porsche or there customers were gonna tolerate.

  • nice

  • What`s with the "Ricer rolls"???????????

  • Ive been told the 5 speeds fifth gear tops at about 186 MPH. Never pushed it past 150 so far. I walked a MK III turbo in fourth gear on the freeway once. Not even close.

  • They are geared for the autobahn :)

  • Comment removed

  • not even the S2 models had more power than a early 951.

  • No.

  • Sorry drewnashty but your wrong, 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo 217hp>1989 Porsche 944 S2 208

Both are great cars but the S2 does not have more hp than the turbo.

  • we have a 88 turbo the rarest year they only mad 500 944 turbos

  • actually the porsche won

  • Uh, the Porsche won haha

  • I have never lost to an M3 or a Supra because I've really raced them, so I know from my own experience.

  • In (real) life, not magazines, LS1 Camaros are faster than M3's, Supras and Skylines. My first race when I bought the Camaro back in 2003 was against an M3 from a 30 roll, I put like 3-4 cars on the bimmer. Two months later, I raced a Supra TT from a dig and I was in front by about 1-2 cars at 100MPH. Never raced an Audi. This week I will race a big turbo RB26det powered 240sx from a dig, lets see what happens.

  • man an M3 e46 supra or skyline stock vs stock with a decent driver would pull at least 3 cars in front of an ls1 camaro and even beat a corvette c5 non z06

  • LOL

    keep magazine racing kid...

  • lol maybe faster than an E36 or an mk3 supra cuz an E46, MK4 or gtr r34 skyline stock vs stock destroys a ls1 camaro

  • None of those car you mentioned can run 12.90@109MPH (STOCK). All LS1's are very underrated from the factory. Supras, M3 and Skylines are heavier and are putting less power to the wheels. Look at one of my vids racing a 2007 350Z which is faster than any of those cars in stock form.

  • man camaros ls1 run high 13's and barely beat evos and sti's

the corvette ls1 run 12's but not the camaro

  • My automatic ran a 13.20@107MPH and my friends 6-speed ran 12.91@109.5MPH when they where both stock. I ran 12.90@109MPH with drag radials and no air filter. The only Camaros that run high 13's are the LT1's.

  • Sad enough I see LT1's get 15's quite often....... Complements of unskilled drivers.

  • you have no idea what you are talking about boy... LS1 F-bodies are low 13 second car on average with very skilled drivers able to break 12's

    E46 M3's are mid 13 second cars

what uneducated kids like you fail to realize is GM underrated these cars and actually put out 350 horse at the crank... put any bone stock LS1 on the dyno and it will easily throw down 290RWHP or better

  • ^^^ directed @ fitnessfag

  • n20ls1, how many stock Supra's have you ran in to to beat? To be honest I have never ran in to a stock one.

  • only one stock and many modded ones.

  • Wow, my comment made no sense, I give you props for actually being able to respond to my rubish! Haha.

The lowest output Supra Turbo I have ever ran in to was a 1988 Supra Turbo modified to 300rwhp and I beat him by a good amount. Im willing to bet 95% of all Supra's are modified.

  • Yep, is hard to find stockers but they're outhere. A friend of mine is bringing to Miami a bone stock MKIV from Curacao.

  • 8 valve SOHC in-line 4, aluminum block and heads Displacement: 151ci or 2479cc Horsepower: 217@5,800 rpm Torque: 243@3,500 rpm Curb weight: 3,115 lbs VS 16 valve OHV V8, aluminum block and heads Displacement: 346ci 5.7l Horsepower: 310@5,200 rpm Torque: 340@4,000 rpm Curb weight: 3,300 lbs
  • my dad has an 85 1/2 non turbo and thats fast. I couldnt imagine the turbo's.

  • To educate all you Motor heads Porsche was the Leader in turbo technology back in the 1980's mastering it with 4cyl cars and 6 cyl as well.American's,and the tuner world are about 20 plus years late..word of advice if you see a 944 Turbo,944 TurboS buy it....In 1980'S these cars was over 160 mph. What cars American made could do that NONE....

  • so who won???

  • Porsche

  • were you any of the drivers

  • Nope, finish line camera.

  • koo

  • porsches are amazin german machines, camaro's are american pieces of shit

  • And you my friend are ignorant.

  • I second that!

  • third, both cars are beauty of classic vehicles nationally and internationally.

  • Just so there is no confusion, I was meaning to agree with fitnessboyPR. However, this is only my opinion and if someone can find enjoyment in Camaro's, all the better for them; I unfortunately cannot.

  • Hey fitnessboy, stay doing pushups, cuz you don't know shit about cars.

  • fuck you white trash, never compare american shit with german car

  • Dumbass I'M CUBAN. I drive an all motor low 10sec Camaro, I would like to see a porsche do the same

  • well then we shouldnt be fighting Im Puertorican, anyway camaros are only good for drag racing, but I would like to see them stock keep up with any porsche on drag, circuit etc. plus I wasnt talking about racing Im talking about car qualitie

  • Camaros are only good for one thing, which is: going fast on a straight line. I know my limitations. Now compare the Corvette ZR-1 to the Porsche GT.

  • To be honest IDK wich one would win there depends on the driver

  • That Porshe has to be modified to even keep up with the Camaro. LS1 Camaros are running in the low 13s/high 12s quarter mile times, trapping up to 109 MPH stock. Could have been an automatic car in that race. But then again, when I had just bought my Camaro and took it to the track for the 1st time, I ran a 13.20 at 106.5MPH (automatic car)

  • of curse a stock 944 will never beat an ls1 camaro, I was talkin g about the carrera gt vs corvette zr-1 on circuit, but I only seen camaros stock running high 13's not fstaer than a supra, skyline, or audi S4, and of curse a BMW M3 e46

  • 944 was at 16psi with mild mods and exhaust. Camaro had headers and exhaust.

  • The Camaro has better gearing for a 1/4 mile run and has good low end torque. The Porsche has top end and is able to beat many cars from a roll.

  • top end? it goes 130. not what id call top end. it just accelerates very quick. quicker than a camaro which is sad because camaro has twice the engine and same weight.

  • bandoboy32 educate yourself before you open your mouth. 130mph, are you kidding me? Stock that 944 Turbo will do 160mph+. A stock 150hp 944 NA will only do 130mph.

By top end Im saying the Camaro makes more low end torque, has favorable gearing from 0mph, there for it has the advantage from a dig.

The 944 Turbo has turbo "lag" in the lower RPM's but they come to life 3,000+RPM's.

  • you are the one that needs educated. the top speed rating on a na is 130. turbo is 145. and thats wrong defination of top end.top end is slower accelerating but high top speed. the camaro has better topend. the 944 accelerates really fast but it doesnt have too much. thats why its really fast from 50ish to 90ish.

  • bandoboy32, you humor me, look at a dyno sheet for both cars. Pay attention closely, you will see that the Camaro's power curve consistently increases as if it was a 40 degree line.

The 944 turbo you will see a gradual increase in hp from 1,000RPM-3,000RPM, once at 3,000 rpm you see the hp curve up like a ski jump and peak at about 6,000RPM.

145 top speed? You make me laugh again, its 162mph STOCK, and with a tune people claim they have obtained 170mph.

  • okay okay. your right. can you get a chip set for a 944s or an aftermarket turbo for it?

  • There are many chips available here are a few below.

    Autothority: +18hp @ the crank, $395.

    Lindsey Racing: +6rwhp, $249.

All the chip is going to do is modify your DME to pump in more fuel, I would go with the Lindsey Racing chip or get a profesional dyno tune. Calloway turbocharged 944's I cant see why a 944S couldnt be. If you can weld, cut and study turbo systems it can be done.

  • Well, I cant legally drive yet. im only 15. me and want to get it to 60 before 7 secs. any suggestions?

  • First of all get your license, second save about $9,000 to buy a used 944 Turbo.

  • but the front of turbos are ugly

  • The 951 is a beautiful machine with great drag coefficients, they were designed for performing well at high speeds, respect that if you want to be accepted by Porsche owners.

  • yeah the only difference was the front fascia. not gonna make a world of difference. and your brilliant save 9 grand to buy a 951. okay. i already have the s which is rarer and already better designed engine so if that was turbocharged then it would eat your 951. with me driving it already will around a track.

  • There were many differences, rear spoiler, front spoiler, fenders, emblem, brakes, suspension, engine, transaxle, torque tube, etc........

Im just saying if speed is your desire save for a 951, the 944NA and 944S are not fast in a straight line.

I have a friend that swapped the 16 valve head on to his 951 and it didnt produce nearly as much torque as the standard 8V. Why do you think Porsche put the 951's 8V head on the 968 Turbo S?

    .

  • @Piperporsche180944 i agree with most of what your saying, but i disagree about N/A 944's being slow in a straight line, my s2 does 0-60 in 6.1 depending on if i wanna put my clutch through that, yes, the 944 turbo, especially yours is faster than the s2 and other porsche 944's but, my car is pretty damn close to being as fast as a turbo, ive kept right up to them up until about high 3rd at my local PCA, where there boost ignites then they take off, but for a N/A its still very good.

  • @hamronD73

What PCA region are you a member of?

  • "with me driving it already will eat your 951 around a track"

Bandoboy32, please don't be a ricer, put your pink slip behind your words. Id gladly meet you at a track as I travel a lot. There is no way your 944S would eat my 951 on a track. My car is a built weekend racer, you probably don't have half the rear wheel horse power my built 951 produces.... Grow up.

  • I would kill you. I have 4 years of circuit experience. horsepower doesnt matter around the track. its finess. more horsepower will hurt you because you will just get loose comming out of every turn, not know what to do and loop it into the wall. I watch newbs that think they know it all (like you) do it all the time.ill kick your sorry ass.

  • Grow up, you may have drove go carts from the ages of 11-15, but not a GT series car on VIR. Like I said, I have a track prepped 951, the hp reflects its handling ability. I would be glad to race you as I go to a local track almost 1 time a week.

You are making a fool out of yourself. Your 15, unlicensed, have no track time, maybe half the hp I have, your probably running the stock suspension, and your going to smoke me?

Ill put my pink slip behind my words... Will you?

  • Dude, bandoboy32, you really need to get your facts straight.

  • @bandoboy32 Lol, not gonna happen bud.

  • @bandoboy32 lol dude quit while your ahead, the turbo is far superior to the S, the S is a shit bucket if not maintained, which im sorry but i dont think youve done that, it needs new belts every 30k and new cam chain tensioners ever 80k, there werent many sold for a reason. and boy, there is a world of difference between a turbo and an S, from brembo brakes all the way too the front the sides the rear ground spoiler, the suspension, boy i could go on, you know nothing little man.

  • @hamronD73 bro with all your respect you dont know anything about ls engine now do your math if that 944 is not a fast porsche unless you do modds if it was stock to stock regardless of maintanace the camaro will make

circle around the porsche i know what am telling you i use to have a 944turbo too and they are fast but not that fast check for manufacture specs and you will see what am telling you

  • @bandoboy32 no the back of then are thats wat i hate bout then that the front looks all new model and the back looks like the oldies style but would still buy one

  • I dont like the turbo front. I would still buy one too.

  • @bandoboy32 wrong again kid a camaro would disintegrate at those speeds

  • Porsche 944 Turbo: Autothority Chip Set

    VS

Chevy Camaro Z28: LT4 Heads, LT4 Intake, Hot Cam, Push Rods, Edlebrock Headers, Full Exhaust, Port and Polish, MSD Coil, Roller Rocker System, Ignition, Lightend Flywheel, Short Throw Shifter.

I beat the Camaro by half car 30-130

  • good thing you had a camera at both ends, most people dont so you dont know who wins but this is good :D

  • 911 > 944

  • 911-$100,000<944-$10,000 Some of us aren't Richie Rich

  • Bugatti Veyron > 911

  • spaceship > Veyron. no one cares were talkin porsche here

  • 1988 944 Turbo S> 1988 911 Turbo. I have many performance books from the 80's proving it. The 944 was the fastest, most expensive 4 cylinder in the world in its day.

  • is there a way to make my 1985/1 944 N/A into a turbo? if so, where can i get the kit for that?. Any help would be awesome.

  • yeah u can turbo and NA, but it is cheaper just to buy a 951 already equiped.

  • its funny cuz i own an 87 944 turbo and a 99z28..theyre both fun as hell to drive and have their ups and downs

  • sweet 944 for life. but camaros are still kinda cool

  • wow

  • wtf did just happen!?!?!?!?!?!? dam my two favorite cars and the camaro just lost well it wasent an ss and it was convirtable and most likely no mods. 944's are awsome

  • A beautiful piece of german engineering! I´ll never forget my first test dirve with normal 944 1987.

  • WOw.. that 944 sounded soo good as it crossed the finish! You can hear the turbo at full whine!

  • Not only can you make the 944 Turbo's REALLY quick, but they're regarded as one of the greatest handling cars of all time. Perfect 50/50 weight distribution. They can be had for really cheap these days and make for awesome project cars.

  • i have an '85 turbo also modified........the 944 as a stock car is pretty good but once u mod it and replace certain parts it dominates!!

  • Yea, I have a highly-modified rocket Turbo S. GuMp don't have a chance. Would be silly results on a race track for a few mile run.

  • i wana full exhaust my car and take off the cat. cuz in canada cars that are older than 20 dont need emissions

  • 951's own

  • Ahh. Youre hooked. 1st the wastegate. Then exhaust...then turbo....then bigger turbo...then bigger motor and all previous turbochargers are too small. It never ends with these cars.

  • Yeah 944 by 2-3 lengths and gap getting bigger. Running open wastegate, lightly modded (16 psi), and full exhuast.

  • uh.. so the 944 won? hard to tell. just wat i assumed. sounds like the 944 has an exhaust, what other mods does it have? is the camaro stock? good race.

  • nice video

  • Thats meee

  • Great car...I have a 1988 Turbo S, highly modified
