  • Hairy hands!

  • Home Depot is my 2nd. Home, but i never buy doors there why? Hollow core doors there have fiber board blocking. Not the best stuff.

  • How in the world do they rate in difficulty a 4 out of 5 for installing just a slab door and then their video for installing a storm door just a 2 out of 5?? The storm door install was way more difficult. The slab door took little to no time at all.

  • The only problem is using a chisel leaves a pretty rough looking edge, and if you fill the rough edge you can take the galvanising off the hinge leading to rust. The only smooth way I've seen is a router on a jamb jig.

  • Plywood inside??

  • Of course if you don't put a bevel on the door edge you will hear a nasty clunk of the door hitting the jamb when you try to close the door won't you? First tool I get out is a carpenters square in this imperfect world. I am a door specialist and they left out 4/5's of the information you need to do this job but it was fun to watch.

  • @PenultimateRun Yes they are I just bought Model # 87360

Store SKU # 759422 check it out

  • Place old door down on the saw horses new door ontop line the top and hinge side up perfectly with the old door. Use a square to transfer the hinge marks up onto the new door. take old hinge and trace the outline of it onto the three new hinge markings. Then router it out and thats it. When hanging a door make sure the hinge side is perfectly level if not your project is doomed.

  • geez, this is a 4/5. thought it'd be simpler.

  • @soulstice99 I did to, It isn't. I'm only 17 but I'm quite handy. I did this, One of the most difficult jobs I've done. The first door was a train wreck. But after the first it was smooth sailing.

  • Wrong, it is much easier to call someone who does this for living and have them do it while you enjoy a couple cold beers!

  • True that!

  • thats a load of bull! that video is assuming the the existing frame is perfectly square, which it probably isnt. Its much easier to offer the door into the jamb and wedge it up with shims, then mark your hinges and scribe/plane the door until it swings properly, leaving the same reveal all the way round. If u have any sense dont listen to this video!
