  • i never ealised how tiny otos are! i got 4 ther other day. but i think mine are still a bit stressed scince they arnt moving all that much what vegies apart from cucumber can i give em

  • the Chinese algae eater grows to a minimum 2 ft., so yah................. don't get them

  • Sorry to burst your bubble but Oto's don't eat hair algae! Maybe if you got a really small pleco like the Pitbull Pleco/LDA25 then it would be fine. :)

  • hay ross i keep having this stuff on the inside of my tank appear and i havnt a clue what it is . its white and cloudy , do u think the otocinclus mite be able to get rid of it

    btw awesome vid as allways

  • @AwesomeAssassin1000 if its the water its probally ammonia if its the glass its probally a type of harmless fungi

  • @fabihanski yeah its on the glass but do u think the fish can help

  • @AwesomeAssassin1000 most fish would peak at it but fish like otos might get the job done done im waiting for my ammoinia to settle then im gonna get 4 ottos for my 33 g tank the fungi makes my tank seem cloudy in a period of 2 days

  • @ATP6TS they only eat the algae

  • what area did u get these from i whent to chingsford and got 3 tiny clown loaches planning on more and a dwarf puffer she got stuck in the filter a few hours ago and it died

  • did you gets yours from pets at home i thought i saw that on the bag it said "where pets come first" if so thats were i allwas get my pets icluding fish right now my 5 gallong is REALLY OVERCROUDED i have 3 juvenile angels a vailtail fighter a cory 3 neon tetras and a juveile pleco

  • @fabihanski yeah pets at home :) I don't buy fish from them anymore though because most of the fish have diseases...I try to stick to family run pet shops because they care for the fish better. yeah that's very overstocked...especially with the angels, how long has it been running can I ask?

  • @TheRossiboy sorry i misunderstood the question how long has the tank been running i thought u ment the store the tank is fairly new but i took and treater some water from my goldfish tank so i would have the bactira i hade 1 angel 2 cors and a pleco to start but one cory passed away i think its been a month

  • @fabihanski Oh well as long as everything's running fine and you don't get deaths every week it should be ok :)

  • move all your tanks away from the window, that's the reason you have such a bad algae problem. Add some co2 (diy if you cant afford the high tech stuff) and you will see the difference very quickly, good luck ;-)

  • @zorachild I can't move em away form the window ther's no space elsewhere...it's now a goldfish fry tank and there is no algae problem anymore as I have a large piece of wood blocking the sunlight...thanks for the advise though I appreciate it

  • chinese algae eaters are nasty little fish that I would only recommend keeping them with cichlids as dither fish or with big goldfish.

  • @TheNathansblog yep they attack small fish and suck their slime off :/

  • Nice oto's I just got 2 recently and now I have 3. fun little guys to watch and great at eating algae.

  • @samsonsfishstuff thanks...ther's been no problems yet I love em!

  • Oto's are sweet. I have one on my 10 gallon and he has been active for 8 months.

  • @Snuper325 cool!

  • Nice vid! Oto catfiish is a reallty nice fish. :)

  • from my experience otos are better at preventing algae. I rarely see them eating visible algae but scraping glass and plants of micro nutrients

oh and i would leave the algae on the glass and remove the algae on the sand bc i havent seen mine eat hair algae like that

  • @themattcam777 Yeah after a few hours of them in there I realised they weren't toughing the hair stuff just th glass and rocks...still great little fish though :)

  • @TheRossiboy yes the are mine even managed to breed in my ten gallon. sadly i lost most of the fry when converting to dirt a few days ago

  • @themattcam777 darn

  • from my experience otos are better at preventing algae. I rarely see them eating visible algae but scraping glass and plants of micro nutrients

  • oto's are pretty sweet fish

  • @weareallwet sure are! I love em now!

  • i hate CAE's i had a school of 16 neons in my first thank (i was 9 and didnt know better ) so a year later 5 neons where gone i had then i saw him in action he was eating the neon a live or mostley alive.

  • @WHITEB0Y221 thank god I didn't get one

  • very nice fish. i have black beard algae in my 6 :-( not on the substate, the decor. quite badly, too :-(

  • @tropix579 quick take the decor out and boil it!

  • @TheRossiboy ok will do :-)

  • is it pets at home you get all your fish from ?

  • @martyb0y1981 no just rareish ones they have a tendancy of selling diseased fish so I go to a family oned business for common fish but they are definately disease free

  • @TheRossiboy yeah I go into pets at home wer i live and one wer my gf lives both have really bad quality fish full of desease they must all be the same lol I get all my fish from maidenhead aquatics now and never have any problems

  • @BenPursey oh right yeah youve already got the algae eaters... you should definately get some cories!

  • @BenPursey sure do! ummm I still love cories, they're one of my fav fish but I think you could get a few cories and 2-3 ottos...They work well together the otos eating the algae and the cories eating leftover food...remember you can get shrimp instead of ottos :)

  • Love the otos man. i really should add about 4 or so otos to my 29.

@BenPursey Corys are great for eating left overs on the ground that fish didnt eat. and Otos are algae eaters. I recommend both. Only get otos if u have algae on the tank or if u gonna feed them some what good .

  • @TheAquariumKid Yeah I've heard some good things about otos, I don't need cories in this tank because he never leaves any food I just feed him on pellets so none goes to waste! Yeah dont worry they'll be well fed! :D

  • @TheRossiboy Lol yeah when corys see the food the go crazy lol. I never have food left over its awsm lol

  • @TheAquariumKid When I setup my large tank I had an outbreak of planeria because of too much food on the gravel and within days of adding the cories the plenarea starved :) GOTTA LOVE CORIES!

  • @TheRossiboy Agreed. I got a brown alage out break and its all over the leaves on some plants. easy to take off but its annoying. tips?

  • ahhh...good good...

oto are acutally from the wild and i have never seen mine ever eat algae wafer.

I hope they live by doing your floating method...i'll check back in 2-3 day..hope they still live

  • @asiandude666 oh right I got mine from a large pet store chain that's against taking fish from the wild so I'm not too sure about that but maybee your right anyways they seem happy and the betta doesn't seem to be interested inthem

  • thats a fish i need to get

  • @WetTropix They seem lively!

  • hello ross

  • @AquaJtang mmmmm hello!
