  • do you think that its weird that i read better in dim/dark light better than a well lit room.

  • Absolutely not weird at all! Even after my daughters' Irlen syndrome diagnosis, they often prefer to read in lower light. My younger daughter was doing it before her diagnosis, only because she actually managed to learn to read before then; the older one never could learn to read before getting her filters.

If reading is a problem for you, it would probably be worth getting tested.

    Just my 2¢

  • i wanna guess that the test cost alot of money.

  • 1st screen (do you really have Irlen syndrome?) = ~$100 + follow-up (what color filters help you best?) ~$100. Then filters: ~$400 if I recall + cost of frames. Our total: ~$700 (insurance: $0). OTOH, if the bad reading makes it hard to earn a living, it's definitely well spent. but if you, like me, find the adjustments doable and can function as is, it's certainly cheaper.

  • You can also go halfway: get screened and use just overlays: ~$20 for a small supply. Works if you just need them just to read (e.g., not for driving)

    Again, just my 2¢

  • well, i'm pretty sure that i dont need them. i just wanted to know the price of the testing and the glasses.

  • omg! i know what its like 4 letters to move and switch places sometimes creating new words or non existing werds.

  • I have a lot of the same difficulties that she has. I have been wearing Irlen lenses for a little over a year, and they have helped me tremendously. I really appreciate your work!
