i fell down multiple times along the trip. i even landed in a couple cages with monsters in them! But i was able to use the wrench climb to avoid the big creature battle right before the broken elevator. :)

An easter egg is just an extra little something the game designers add in just for fun, kinda like when they put Dan's face and name in random places. They dont help u do any thang, its just interesting. Make sense? Like, "hey look you can get up to this dock ship! But it doesnt do anything!"
