I remember my grandfather, a vax guy in the 70s and 80s telling me that the VAX was never going to be hacked because the passwords where so secure. The funny thing was , by 1980s standards, he wasnt too far out. Plus at that point in history there was really no such thing as internet, and any access to the system was via a phone and some sort of DECNET gateway thing. Despite it all, I think if that old girl was put on the net now, she'd still hold up well simply due to the "wtf" factor.
