• It will be a great hit?? It WAS in 1993!

• Great song! Too bad it takes the tragedy of lost souls (one or millions..anywhere in the world) to create such an inspiring and stirring performance. Thanks to Soul Asylum for reminding us to keep our eyes open for our own as well as our neighbor's.

• Relax... there were versions made for loads of countries, not just the US.

• For the longest time I believed this was a Tom Petty song. Opps. Great Song

• Pedofil? Idiot!!! I like this song

• I like this song******

• this song is real good

• Essa música marcou uma época da minha vida..

• There were 2 cases that still haunt me:

The first was a girl who in Jr. High was popular and snobby. She made fun of me constantly. In highschool, I sat next to her in class and she started talking to me, about deppressing stuff, like she didn't have anybody else to talk to. Shortly thereafter she dissappeared. She was being abused by her Father and ran away. The last anyone saw her, she was sleeping in a park.

• The other girl, I fell hard for. She was model pretty and won my attention by taking my gourd I decorated in art class and breaking it over my head. I picked up a half and busted it over her head. We laughed and were close the rest of the year. She told that despite how we got along she still didn't trust people getting close to her. I saw her crying in class one day. She wouldn't talk bout it. She ran away soon afterward.

• ur stories have touched my heart that wus so sad. omfg this so sad why wud the fuck some1 abuse there kid that is so f-ing mean cuz i no how it feels im abused a 13 yearodl gettin abused beat up by my father omfg

• Rais your hands:

How many people cried to this song/video?

Me first (hand in air, tear running down my cheek, sparkling in the sunlight)

• ALWAYS. I'm sorry about your friends. It shows you never know what's going on in someone else's life, doesn't it? How sad, to go from popular and snobby to sleeping in the park. :-(

• one of the best songs ever

• does anybody know if any of these peopel were found or laid to rest as a result of this video?

• great song!!!

• awesome song, seems quite poignant now with the body of dinah mcnicol being found. she was missing in the uk since the early 90's and although now we know she didnt run away, its the not knowing that have kept her name alive. the police unearthed her body just 2days ago. what she and her family went through i can hardly imagine. rest in peace dinah x

• oh damn this song is awesome he is old but really great. i heard it when i was younger and since this time he is my fav.

• Dave Pirner: Kurt Cobain is not dead.

• That guy is like jon bon jovi en this 90'er look

• Love this song

• I had actually run away when this movie came out. Was virtually living on the streets. Glad I survived and made it. I always considered this song my "theme song"

• Glad u did survive an hope all okay for you now. I always thought this song helped runways, but that wasn't always the case for some. Sad song xxx

• Yes this is my favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at this too: watch?v=Izg367L3Vzk

• i agree wid u.. i also lyk soul asylum..=p

• Does anyone know if any of the kids pictured were found as a result of showing this video? It would be comforting to know that a life was saved because awareness was raised.

• thats good question dont know its so sad

• It's a sobering video. I have 3 kids. I remember my friends and I talking about running away and I've seen this video before, but until you have kids it doesn't hit like it does me now.

• Ok if you want an impacting video watch this and you will have chills down your body. This is probably one of my fav songs of all time.

• You can see Soul Asylum for FREE in Buffalo, New York on August 16,2007. The event is called Thursday In The Square and starts at 5pm. Lafayette Square, Buffalo, New York.

• where is the last girl on the video? show em !

• Number one in my all time favorites <3

• awesome also check out my favorite video:

The NEW Canon Rock

played by 16 year old Matt who is hilarious to watch with mad skillz!

• the record company made the video, pretty much all of the guys saw the finished video for the first time when it was aired on MTV,,, alot of the Kids in the Video reurned home of their own free will, Others went thru state fcailities that deal with abusive situations.

I have YET to see a obituary naming any of these actual people, and whose to say they were not already dead... EITHER way it Gave us AWARENESS moreso i Give Dave and the guys credit for trying to Help

• anyone have the mtv unplugged?? i'm getting mad searching for it and i found nothing...

• Reminds me of "Dire Straights" Money for nothing

• Here comes the 90's. This songs beautifull.

• im going to kill u all hahahaha!!!

• You sound like a f**king sick psychotic bastard! Whats so f**king funny about killing another person?

• the band isnt guilty of what could have happened to all these kids, what they did was just posting who was missing, they didnt say where this kids were or anything so dont blame the video, the video rocks!!

• Anyone know where I can find the Uk version of this video?

• If you find out please let me know!! I've looked everywhere...

• Simply the most important music video ever made. When it began showing, several missing children featured were found and returned, and several others called home to say they were alright. As cases were solved, new children were inserted in the video. In foreign countries, local children were featured. It took the music video to another level, providing public service and profoundly affecting people's lives. Genius!

• Some of the people featured were forced to return hom after being recognized. Some have contacted the band to thank them for ruining their lives and forcing them back into abusive situations.

Some of the kids were killed.

The Australia version features several people killed by a serial killer.

• some yes, and some were brought back to their family who missed em.

• The band isn't responsible for ruining their lives, or for forcing them back into abusive situations. If anyone lives in an abusive situation, there are legal roads that can be taken. Or, they could have always run away again...

• I wasn't blaming the band. I love them and I love this song...I was just relaying information to those who might not be aware.

• Where are you getting this information from? I don't see what you're claiming anywhere!

• yeah i had to watch this in grade seven, all the girls in my class cried =( it's such a sad song

• Very beatiful and sad song... Made me pore upon... I just didn't get what those elder people in the beginning of the video are doing ? The grandma and grandpa... It seemed like grandpa is harming grandma, isn't it ? And the kid shown in the middle of the video, taken by the ambulance with a blood in his mouth... Does it show the cruelty of kidnappers or it has some other meaning ?

• I had to watch that video in 7th grade at an assembly

WTF i guess it was a suppressed for obvious reasons.

thanks california school system for making me watch rape, pedophilia and murder. i was f'ed up in the head

enough at that age. i would have preferred to ignore

reality a little longer. just being honest.

• i understand your post but it states in the opening part of the video how one million children are lost to the streets...a lot of it was based on runaways or children who had been kidnapped. In middle school that is when a lot of kids have more independence. You have to keep an eye over your shoulder. Be careful. and sadly even in 7th grade that is reality. I do believe this video touched many teens on the factor of NOT running away..they saw the reality of what could happen.

• you being forced to watch it shouldnt have happened, or atleast they shouldnt have made it seem like you had to watch it .. that was wrong

this video helped people all over this world 100 times more than it did anyharm.

• This is interesting. I haven't seen this music video in fourteen years! Not since I was seven. Such a sad video. It still has a powerful effect on me now as it did then. Except now, I understand it more.

• very good song!!! ;)

• Wow. Powerful video.

• hard to believe how evil people can be; kind of freaks me out.

• AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

• Wow. Back when MTV was actually relevant.

"this time I have really led myself astray..."

It really shows the unbreachable gulf between parents and their children. It's even worse today.

The end of the video serves as a warning to parents!

• oh god, i love this song soo much <3

• Taken from Songfacts.com, here's what i found.

"This is a song about teenage runaways. In the video for the song, names and pictures of missing children were displayed during each chorus. Several of these children were found. (thanks, Andy - Arlington, VA)"

• I was in that video! my 15 minutes of fame. I was abducted by a gang and they ran a train on me. Choochoo!

• that is the creepiest old man i've ever seen

• not as creepy as yo momma!

• Isn't the old man picking up the girl the same one who did something to the old woman at the beginning of the video?

• Love this song but the video isnt what the song is all about, but brill vid anyways...

• Very powerful video. This is one that I can't watch all the time. It's pretty disturbing watching a bunch of old pervs carrying away the minor like that. It makes you want to be there with a bat, cracking them all in the head.

• I couldnt agree more with you. Really a powerful and disturbing video.

Its quite a great song though

• I agree. Actually I loved the song when it first came out but after I saw the video, it was hard for me to even listen to it anymore because I would always see the frightening images from the video.

• this is sad cuz this happens all of the time i loved it by the way

• I wonder what ever happened to all those lost souls...

• This video helped relatives find over half of these people, if not all of them.

• Soul Alsylum Kicks Major Ass, this song is awesome

• nyc

yeahhh

• Child abduction - hundreds of children are stolen each week in USA. Most, never seen/heard from again.

• i love this song, this was the first song what i learned on the drums

• I love this song-it's really good! Alot better than some of the shit that seems to be getting pumped out by the barrel full these days!

• Such a sad song, especially the ending, I feel so bad for the Mom who had her baby taken that's just so sad, if that was me I don't know what I would have done

• Amazing tune. I don't know ANYBODY who doesn't like this song.

• i love Dave

• Half way through this vid keeps freezing on me. On other youtube vids they work after several attempts but this one even after about 20 tries still keeps freezing. Its a shame as this is one of my all time faves. BOO HOO!

• this song gives me chills... I love this so much. and the singer is the cutest thing you can find!

• I was 15... Great song.

• This is my favorite song

• why does a bad 80s powerballed have a 5 star rateing?

• god i used to love this song!

• Here's another site for missing people :

http://www.charleyproject.org/chron/index.html

there are people there that missing from all decades 90's ,80's ,70's,60's even from 50's , 40's , 30's ,20's 10's . and no one ever found them.

it's pretty crazy ahh from the 10's and 20's ?

( for those that read my messages here for the first time , and don't know why the link don't work , it's because youtube put SPACE between the letters , so just cut it and you'll be able to open it).

• Hey thanks kaja for letting me know about the space between the links.

Yes, it's pretty sad to know that no one knows what happen to these people.

Especially to the little baby. On the article it shows some recent pictures. Are those just pictures of what he might of looked like today? Pretty crazy how technology can do that nowadayz.

• No problem Kaleidostar909.

the site for missing people is : www.doenetwork.us

(don't forget to cut the SPACE).

anyway the cases of missing people is in raw 6 when it say "unexplained disappearances" .

the longest disappearance is from this lady who disappeared in 1949(yes 1949 you read correctly) :

http://www.doenetwork.us/cases/436dfca.html

but like i said also long disappearances from 1969 , 1971 , 1981 , 1985.

• p.s. i did a search on google too on missing people

and i discovered people's pictures and date of lost from years like : 1969 , 1971 , 1985 .it's just sad and frightening , people that missing 40 years and 30 years and no one knows what happened to them .

makes me shivers all over the body thinking about it...

• I'm not sure why the links aren't working. All I did was google/yahoo the names from the video. Here are the individuals I found a website for... Wilda Mae Benoit Byron Eric Page Curtis Anthony Huntzinger Christopher Matthew Kerze Martha Wes Dunn I found nothing for... Christina Ann Wood Ginger Sue Hudson Heather Lee Yagle Darlene Michelle Hungerford Berenice Espinoza Michelle Anne Farley Emily Tamara Pois From what I read none of them have been found yet. Dead or alive.
• I finally understood why the links don't work , it's because youtube put SPACE between this sign / , though in couple of links they

put the SPACE between the letters.

so all you have to do is to look carefuly at the links and in where you find the SPACES just cut it.

by the links they didn't found them , not dead and not alive, it's just terrible , it's already been 14,16 years years and they still missing

like the ground just took them ...

• Somehow those links aren't working. But, the article was pretty sad. How the Mother and Daughter turned on the father of the son like that. You've got to read the article to understand. It's the same link. Some how for me, it's not letting me copy and paste the link. Hopefully it will for the rest of you!

• I found some more (I justed googled the names)

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/benoit_wilda.html

http://www.childsearch.com/byron_page.html

http://dojapp.doj.ca.gov/missing/detail.asp?FCN=1889014112060

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/kerze_christopher.html

http://www.doenetwork.us/cases/286dftx.html

• ^ I found this.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/g/gibson_thomas.html

• Anyway does anybody who read my message here ever heard something during the years ,since 1993 ( the song/video released ) about the children from the song runaway train ? does anybody know if they found these kids , or anybody at all ?

it's really sad , so some one who knows or heard please reply .

thanks !

• here's the correct link : http://208.254.21.170/en_GB/images/UKSY418_2000c1.jpg

• this is weird ...i remember that in the video there were different pictures .

especially of this kid Ben Needham :

http://images.google.co.il/imgres?imgurl=http://missingkids.co.uk/photographs/UK14240791e1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://missingkids.co.uk/missingkids/servlet/NewsEventServlet%3FLanguageCountry%3Den_GB%26PageId%3D0&h=461&w=400&sz=14&tbnid=4h8kuQqS0nAdRM:&tbnh=125&tbnw=108&hl=iw&start=2&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dben%2Bneedham%2Bmissing%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Diw%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN

• Yes, I remember seeing other pictures as well. There was this one in particular that kind of scared me when I was young and I didn't see it in this video.

• i love this song !!!!!!!!!

• i love it

• at last!! thank you for sharing!!

• thanks a lot...i loooove it
