@ShaktipatSeer2 See We have to see everything in positive light. Whether this statement was said in the Puranas is or not is debatable. as even other Vaishnava sampradayas do not accept. Please understand why would God come and lead people in a wicked way. I would say that is not the proper conclusion. Meanwhile, Please do not restrict Advaita Vedanta as if starting from Adi Shankara. Advaita was quite prevalent was practised by Great Sages like Vamadeva, Vashishta.

May the Lord God guide everyone who sees this movie to read Shankara's 'Crest Jewel of Wisdom.' I've heard Shankara mentioned in the same sentence as Buddha and Gandhi, though some are not sure the Mahatma belongs in this company.

If your Atman is everything, then why arent YOU like Shankaracharya? If following his doctrine leads you to be enlightenment and liberation why arent YOU as intelligent as him? Since all Atmans are the same or there is only one Atman, how come you are not as gifted as him?

@xXBlackxRebelXx "Shankara" is simply a name we give to a specific body and mind. The real Person is the Atman, who has no body and no mind. When we say that Shankar is God we are refering to Atman, which went seen through a specific body and mind, we call Shankara.

I am not as intellegent as Shankara because intellegence is due to the mind. My mind and Shankara's mind are different. However, it is the Atman that illuminates the mind. That Atman I am. That Atman Shankara is.

Nothing is won or defeated. Truth always prevails. And remember Sankara! All these including his doctrines are Maya! The real truth is unmentionable, un-express-able. It has to be experienced! Sankara due to his immense compassion gives you the stick (rather different type of sticks suitable for different personalities and abilities - read his soundaryalahari) to climb the mountain. Its upto you how to use it for your own spiritual upliftment.

But tell me, this movie, as authentically it was shot, missed out on some historical incidents. For one, he doesnt immediately win his debate with Madana Mishra, but takes the body of a dying king as his own and lives the life of a householder, the life he never knew in order to truly win the debate. Also, when his mother is dying, she wishes to see both see God, and Adi Shankara is said to have given her divibe vision and shown her Shiva and Vishnu. So did G.V Iyer compromise on all that?

So was it the wisdom imparted that counted? I personally hold this movie in high regard but it got, pardon me, a bit pointless after a while as far as the story/historical incidents go. What about the incident where he meets the Tribals and converts them out of their ill practices? What about when Narasimha saves AdiShankara in the mountains? these are the incidents that are at the back of my head but there are many more..
