I'm new at video production and Im trying to learn how to give my videos that professional look and you are the first to help me understand how it works. I've never left a comment on youtube thanks.
3DSMAX for the 3D level, Combustion for green screen masking and 3D video integrating.
That's pretty easy if you have a blue/green screen. You can also do it using after effects and another 3D software (I use CINEMA4D, but you work with the one that you like): You make a video with the screen on the back, then using the 'KEYLIGHT' plugin for afterFX, you remove the BG and make it transparent, you render your 3D level animation, then import your 3D video and drag it under the other. GOTCHA =)
Awesome... video I like to see more... i would like to see how bullets are done when shot outta barrels when it comes to live video... and how you make a hole somthing like a bullet wound where you can you can see right outta to the side.. like for a zombie or somthing... and for those wishing you had the tools.. thats eazyie to get... its the know how is the tricky part
What I want to know is...how was the background created (It would be black if you rendered it and not added taht before rendering it.) other than that Awesome Job!
wow i have Gmax witch is a free version of 3DsMax although i cant understand either one of them i tried making maps using that program for videos games but i quit its very complicated sence i have no one to teach me but good job on that stuff looks very good and very good graphiced
I quite enjoy your special effects explained videos you did, for the music video and your short film. It's quite inpiring, I just wish I had the tools you use.
What program do you use for the chroma key and editing?
hey im using vision lab, which is basically an advanced compositing software with aditional particle engines etc. im using c4d to, i was wondering how you placed the "moving picture of the dude on the stool" on the plain with alpha channle, i can create environments etc, but could you d oa tutorial on that, or maybe direct me to one
Hey great and interesting. I'm trying myself to work with special effect. I use the FXhome visionlabs. The programs u used: discrete combustion, 3D studio, do they need a good computer, cause mine allways hangs him self up when rendering the end production.
It's really cool that you're showing people how to do these effects. I've not used Combustion or green screening, but I'd like to try it now I have a basic understanding. People don't always realize how long editing takes, but it's worth it to achieve quality videos like yours. I love your work, so it's really exciting to be involved with the Kapers project! Dan =:D
great video! was very interesting, so keep posting more. I also do 3d with programs such as cinema 4d 10, vue 6 infinite, 3ds max 9, maya, etc. i mainly use the first 2 i mentioned, however. I just ordered a big green screen to use with those programs, so this was a perfect video. thanks
2. How much did the tilting of the camera against the green screen influence the quality? Please explain more about this (I understand that the width resolution is higher than the height resolution, but I was wondering if this had a big impact, and why).
Hi, I don't know if it will work for counter strike movies because I don't do those but I use three programs here: 3D Studio Max, Discrete Combustion and Vegas Video. Good luck! :)
I taught myself 3D studio mostly from the tutorials that come with it and then practice. I use discrete combustion for keying and Vegas for editing and post.
I don't know a thing about computer manipulated images, rendering, etc and I didn't even know I was interested until I watched this. You did an excellent job explaining so even people like me can understand. Great video!

It's weird, I completely understood all the things you were saying, and everything was really simple actually. How come you don't use a Mac? Does the visual effects industry primarily use windows? And I really like combustion feature of keying out the green, that was fast. It takes a while to do that in After Effects and Final Cut Pro.
Thanks a lot, I'm working on a project like this which is still very new to me, and I didn't even consider doing it like this, instead I rendered and exported from maya to quicktime, then in premier, I put the video footage in the background after keying it. I think I like what you've done far better, it looks clearer too.
Looks very cool, pretty interesting for those of us without that kind of experience. Thanks for the quick rundown, maybe provide a tutorial with more details!
That was alright, but how can you call it complex. It's obvious that all you did to make that room was make a pillar and then clone it a lot of times and put a plane under it. It doesn't even look like you textured anything. This is far from complex.
I meant complex in general for people who aren't familiar with 3D software. As far was what can be done with the software, you're right. Because of prohibitive rendering times I had to limit what I did here. Thanks for watching.
