I dunno..each had their own characteristics and traits that made them so interesting....it was so much fun over the years watching...I will miss every single person who ever  was on the show..from Richard Brooks and Michael Moriarty to Anthony Anderson and Alana De La Garza....

You know when they started to change cast members every season.. It was the end. I don't care what anybody says but before 2008 there were some people who knew how to act!

If New York didn't have Law & Order I don't think the events of the last twenty years would be the same. Nobody ripped the headlines like Law & Order and did a brilliant job at giving a real life look into why the justice system is so flawed,

This season has been weak with the cancer story with Van Buren and those stupid sexy stories with cutter and rubirosa. I think the shows quality driopped significantly in the 4th season but I have not seen much of it. I wish they''d do a flash back epoisode but just have it be a regular episode with Stone and Paul robinette and Adam Schiff and cragen and lenny and Logan. I liked Paul sorvino's character phil cerreta I never saw an episode with the first guy max greevy.

the actress who plays lt. van buren has been there for the 20 years....18 as the lieutenant and then in other roles. sam waterson has been on the show for 15 of those years.....

No she hasn't, Van Buren came in at the beginning of season 4 and Merkerson had a guest role in one episode of season 1, hardly 20 or even 18 years.

This is my favorite franchise. I really hope to see more of Law & Order in the future. And i heard about all the changes that are going to happen to Criminal Intent. USA wants only Goldblum and they want D'Onofrio, Erbe, Bogosian and Nicholson off the show. THAT's LIKE THE WHOLE CAST!!!!

Anyways, i hope to see Logan up ahead in a guest appearence or a another TV movie. Long LIve the law.

Exiled - yeah good ep, was nice how they made a secondary character we've seen in the background the past seasons come forward,

Actually British show Taggart has been going longer than 20 years as a police drama. But I hope they're right that Law and Order has another 20 years left in it!

"Taggart" isn't even an equal comparison. They only aired 100 episodes over a span of those years, where L&O has aired 433. Taggart may have been on a long time, but I wouldn't consider it a series like we consider at TV series here in the US.

'Taggart' is a fine show, but it is much easier to maintain a viewing audience when the show is only aired an average of 3-4 times a year. It makes it more of an event to watch it. Where as 'Law & Order' has over 20 episodes a season, it is easier for viewers to become burned out and tired. The fact that the show is able to last over 400 episodes is a testament to how audiences appreciate it, when other shows similar to it fave fallen short.

...probably means that british tv doesn't pay as well. the actor on wire who's a brit was talking about the small brit tv community and the breadth of the american tv landscape.
