I hate how they didnt put in the part where he bargained Harry and James lives just to saved Lily's. And they never show where James saves his life and tries to be his friend but still Snape still becomes a Death Eater. And how Dumbledore had to beg him to protect Harry and doesnt ask Dumbledore to hide them all , just Lily/ They make Snape to be this perfect little boy scout when he's not. They amended this scene just for all the Snape lovers and so they can praise him and down James

Guess fans cant accept the harsh realities of the real Severus Snape so the movies turn him into this friendless tortured big fluffy teddy bear. @KidInsain James NEVER tried to be Snape's friend. James hated Snape just as much as Snape hated James. James saved his life because, no matter how much he hated Snape, he had a conscious and thought the joke Sirius was pulling on Snape went too far. But James NEVER tried to be his friend, so lets not rewrite James' end of the rivalry between them just because the movies screwed up a bit in showing more of Snape's flaws when he was younger.

@KidInsain James didn't grow into having loyalty to his friend - he was ALWAYS loyal to his friends - even when he was young and an asshole, that loyalty was always there. I just objected to the idea that James had, in any way, tried to friends with Snape. Because he never did. And honestly? The movies aren't the only thing that short-changed James' character. IMO nothing in the book shows he really matured much except that Lily found him less of a toerag apparently and fell in love him then.

@KidInsain So IMO James' limited character development happens in the books as well as the movies. Most of the info we get of him maturing is all second-hand info from Sirius. That said, the movies DID hold back on showing Snape's not-so-nice side here. I for one was disappointed they didn't show the reason why his and Lily's friendship ended. By not showing the "Mudblood" incident, the movie doesn't show people why she stopped being friends with him, which short changes Lily's character IMO.

But the growth is seen with him becoming headboy , joining the Order and (Snape dickriders just hide this fact) him saving Snape life(But in hindsight , if he would have let him die , Tom wouldnt have know about the prophecy , yeah so). But finally I have find a reasonable Snape fan(I'm assuming you are)

@KidInsain I like to think I'm reasonable. :) I like Snape - and did so before the reveal in book 7. He's my 3rd favorite character in the series after Harry and Luna. But the guy wasn't without some major faults of character. But those faults are why I like him. They show how far he had to come to find redemption, and that it was not an easy or short road for him. The final movie(s) play up the Byronic romanticism of the character more than the book does, that much is clear IMO.

@cbrownjc I used to be a big Snape fan before the movies came out but thankz to his fan boys/girls I started not liking him bcuz I was defending James so much. And by the way I ship James and Luna. I dislike him with Ginny bcuz the lack of interaction they have between book 2 and book 6. they seemed forced on the fans and they never really develop that ship.

When i went to see harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2 i started to cry when i saw snape die...not small little tears but i was almost screaming at the top of my lungs crying.....everone was lookin at me and i almost got kicked out of the theater once i got myself calmed down this happened......more crying :P
