I saw this movie in the theater when it came out. I loved the movie, but I could not stop thinking why the person who built that prop did not realize that people would recognize it as a simple plasma lamp/globe, just like they sold at Spencer’s, Radio Shack, and K-Mart. It just seemed odd that the audience was asked to believe that such a common place item was actually powerful alien technology. Other than that, great movie.
Some more 80's classics, The Manhattan Project, The Philadelphia Experiment, Silver Bullet (classic Stephen King movie with Corey Haim (RIP) and Gary Busey, saw it On Demand not long ago), Red Sonja, Conan the Destroyer, Ferris Bueller;s Day Off. Damn it, I want that time machine from My Science Project so I can go back now!
Let's see what else, Porky's, Revenge of the Nerds (Ogre is the SHIT!),Teen Wolf (just the first one with Michael J. Fox, the one with Justin Bateman sucked),Terminator,Sixteen Candles (hell anything with Molly Ringwald was good, god she was hot then and is still hot today),I wanna include Meatballs but I'm not for certain if that was in the 80's or started in the late 70's, oh and who remembers the Critters movies? The critters were like evil versions of Sonic the Hedgehog. Those were the days!
I saw this movie on HBO when I was a kid. I don't remember Dennis Hopper (R.I.P. dude) being in it. The one scene I really remember, is when the greaser guy character (can't remember his name) is in his car and hits a switch, and this big neon middle finger pops out of the back of his car LOL. Some of the best movies of all time came out in the 80's. Breakfast club, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Gremlins (FUCKIN CLASSIC!), The Lost Boys, My Science Project, Weird Science, on and on!
Word to the Wise: Hooking up a truck battery to an electronic device that doesn't appear to have any known present or past technological origins may have unpredictable results...
Wow at 2:02. That was a big exposition info dump starting right there. I always found it funny that the teacher says that without any proof. Good flick though, Fisher as Vince was a stand out.
MY SCIENCE PROJECT. This is a teenager movie, teenagers find future time device, and it alters their high school in Time & Space; they must recover the device and shut it down while making a rescue of the girl. Science Fiction all the way.
This movie had one of the greatest Surround Sound effects of its day when they first hooked up the machine earlier in the movie. Man , that was so awesome! Take out your subwoofer on the first shot!
when the teacher bought this into my class over 20 years ago all the kids were "aah no its gonna be so boring" then when when one of the characters swore or whatever it was we all cracked up and the teacher looked pretty shocked:DD good memories;}}}
it was the idea the concept just like the united states. i didnt care about the actors, if i wasent reading some new scit fi book or looking into more technology, i was definitly into sci movies that generated the idea of something new or far out man!. or just start thinking out side the box.
A film that I couldn't stop watching as a kid. Nowadays, though I've had it on DVD for several years, it never seems to leave my mind. This film truly gave me my perspective of getting a GTO! I hope they don't make a sequel to this. Stockwell was a cool actor. I always liked seeing the time warp funnel - most notably when it started. Wow, I'm motivated to break out the DVD and watch it again!!! I still have to get the soundtrack.
5 minutes after Jesus was crucified, some dumbass was saying it was the end times. Every time some idiot says that, I have to roll my eyes. Some people think their suffering is unique of better than at any other time and that they live in some special "end times'. Then they say, hey buddy, just look at the bible. End times I tell you! Shut the Fuck Up!
Jesus...I have a hard enough time pissing out the end of my dick with any accuracy after a few beers let alone hooking up a microsingularity distortion unit.
This movie had style even if it did have the campy ex-hippie science teacher element, and it never seems dated- like Repo man, it will always be cool.

Την έχω δεί και εγώ αυτή την ταινία. Από τις πιό καταπληκτικές που έχω ποτέ δεί! Αν εξαιρέσουμε βέβαια ορισμένα σημεία της.
