Neat presentation... it is a topic that i think one can talk for hours and hours about, seems like 8 minutes is not enough. Well said, it was a great event, never to be forgotten.
nice job bro..I was 9 yrs old and that game changed my life. I built a rollerhockey rink in California and have owned a hockey store as well as coached since the 90's...all because of that game. Nice report
Good speech except that it was a tie game at 2 to 2 going into the 2nd not the 3rd because of a last second shot by Dave Christian and mark Johnson scored on the rebound
Pretty decent speech, except for a few of your facts were wrong. Carter gave his Crisis of Confidence speech on July 15, 1979, not January. Also, the Soviets were up 3-2 going into the 3rd period, it wasnt tied, Johnson and Eruzione scored in the 3rd to win 4-3.
my grandpa was a gurad during the olympics in lake placid and he was pretty much herb brooks' body guard....weve got a huge album of photos, pucks and stuff...we even have the stick Phil Verchota used during the championship game against Finland where he scored the game tying goal...he signed it and its pretty awesome. weve got 2 of Janaczak s sticks [backup goalie] the one sitck reads,"to....., best of wishes...see other stick"-[this was before playing USSR]
nice speech and glad to see someone not even born when it happend to have that much passion for it very nice. But the dude that said it doen'nt even compare to the summit series or the Canada cup please thats too funny, this is and probably will be the greatest upset in the world bar none
The Americans were well prepared to play the Soviets. It is the dirty little secret that Brooks kept. He knew they were the best team so he prepared his team to play their style and be in the same kind of shape the Soviets were in. The U.S. did the one thing the Soviets did not expect...they skated with them for three periods. Other teams had been unable to do that in Olympic play.....the Soviets were used to wearing down teams. The U.S. was ready for that and that's why they won.
Well done speech! Seems like you were passionate about the topic and knew how to interrelate it to the world's issues going on during that time. I really wish I can say that I've witnessed that miracle, but it was seven months before I was even born. I watched the movie "Miracle" from Disney, and then youtubed actual footage. Amazing!!!
you made a mistake dude, it was 3-2 in the soviets favor at the end of the 2nd. i think you met to say at the end of the 1st. but other than that, great speech
haha, your just saying that cuz your from canada probably, this is truely the best sport game ever played.... i dont care if you disagree, this is truely a miracle
Very nice to see a man of your age being proud enough of your country to expain this miracle to your fellow students. I was 11 watching that game, still vividly remember it. Great job!
yea, i know i mess up the score after 2 periods. i knew it right after i finished the speech. in any matter, no one in the class knew it, including the teacher. i messed up the date for carter's crisis of confidence speech too. blah!

Okay, I agree that this was a HUGE moment in sprots history but greatest ever? I don't think so..The 1972 Summit Seris Between Canada and Russia way better than this one game.
Very nice job! I actually just watched the entire game all over again. I own it, bought it on DVD on Ebay. I was all fired up all over again. I watched the game on TV the day it was played, I was 13. I can't see anything in sports ever topping this. It was the greatest moment in U.S. sports history. Again...nice job!

You are a very poised public speaker and you did a great job of summarizing the greatest upset in the history of sports. Well done!!

Then after beating Russia and winning the gold vs Finland he signed another one saying, "always work hard, God knows it'll pay off USA 4 Finland 2"
Thats pretty damn inspiring

it was by far the greatest moment in sports. it wasnt just because it was david vs. goliath but it was because of what it did for our country.
