i dont know... im not a fan of touch screen at all. But x-fi has EXTREMELY good soudn quality and i was impressed by it. As long as you have good head phones and arent deaf you will notice it the crystalizer. I had the original creative zen for a year and i wanted to buy another one when it broke because i liked how the menu was and etc. and was used to it but i noticed the x-fi was an upgraded version so i bought it and am happy. The x-fi 2 is someting different... might be better but
If you use subscription services, many a complaint from users of x-fi 2 is that it has no compatibility with any subscription services or tracks... so if you download all your stuff (illegally) or all your stuff is on CD your good..otherwise your screwed apparently..

Major bomb on x-fi 2 right now is that it does not have compatibility with subscription music services.. see the amazon reviews page for one.. there are like 2 complaints right at the top.. unless of course they were fake, but I think I saw one such review on Creative's own product page as well..

Well as I thought... if you have most of your stuff on CDs or completely illegal you don't have a problem... I for one like so many kinds of music (like every form of rock alone) and so temperamental in what I listen to and enjoy at a given moment, having them all on CD does not come up to immediately cost effective at $15 to $20 per CD when I'd need like 600 CD's to cover what tracks I listen to... so the subscription stuff has worked out for me :P and I just don't rip-off tracks. I'm a boob..
The point to that last drawn out reply is that then the x-fi2 is a very cool option if you don't care about subscription (and I'd imagine they'd have to add support eventually to stay in the game if you did eventually want it.. )

I can't find any wireless features on my Zen X-Fi at all. Mine does not have the online feature, and I have not found one option throughout the entire menu that suggests it is wi-fi compatable.
Also the headphones broke really easily, after having fluctuating levels of sound for maybe a month.
Not particularely impressive for headphones worth ~$60USD.

If your lazy and don't know anything about computers, go with an Ipod. You might as well buy a MAC while your at it. If you know your way around computers even a little, I would go for the more inexpensive zen and a good PC.
I prefer the Zen Zen, just the Zen, no M or View or whatnot on it. It is a tad annoying that it doesn't work without XNJB on a Mac though, or I use it in XP in Parallels, either work quite well.
Anyhow. I just find the Creative Zen X-Fi a bit, ugly compared to the just Zen.
For anyone looking for a REAL PMP, this is the way to go. Creative is usually pretty good about firmware updates. The guy that gave this review is a moron. If you lock the device, the screen will shut off, which tremendously increases battery life. To all of those asking, the 3 hour battery life is for WIRELESS. The device can achieve up to 36 hours of music through headphones, and 5 hours of video. These times are diminished if listening through the ext. speaker. 36 hours on an Ipod? NEVER!
i must say though. the ipod touch is great.. really easy to use controls. nice big clear screen, but if your looking for something with a little less budget then the zen is for you. having watched loads of videos about the zen it has made me want one over the ITouch. purely for the fact ive just ordered one for £128 Uk. for the 16GB X-FI. plus it also comes down to your tastes.. but ipod definetly for the better features. but zen for its amazing price tag.:)
Man...i could write a 2000 word essay on why PCs are superior to macs. I don't REALLY want to start something but i don't understand why mac users think the way they do...confuses the HELL out of me. well in my opinion, its not better than the ipod touch when it comes to the usability of the ipod touch. the Touch is capable of doing so much more than the zen x-fi, such as having full html internet access, purchasing music, movies right off of the ipod touch. having apps such as aim, myspace, email, and facebook direct connect. Plus a wide variety of other usefull programs that can be helpfull in everyday events. I have flight computers and aviation weather apps on my touch.

this is better, better sound qualtiy, better durability, better wireless connectivity, and better value. 32 gb is only $250. Also supports external memory of an up to a 16gb SDHC card. If your lazy and don't know anything about computers, go with an Ipod. You might as well buy a MAC while your at it. If you know your way around computers even a little, I would go for the more inexpensive zen and a good PC.

I prefer the Zen Zen, just the Zen, no M or View or whatnot on it. It is a tad annoying that it doesn't work without XNJB on a Mac though, or I use it in XP in Parallels, either work quite well.
Anyhow. I just find the Creative Zen X-Fi a bit, ugly compared to the just Zen.

For anyone looking for a REAL PMP, this is the way to go. Creative is usually pretty good about firmware updates. The guy that gave this review is a moron. If you lock the device, the screen will shut off, which tremendously increases battery life. To all of those asking, the 3 hour battery life is for WIRELESS. The device can achieve up to 36 hours of music through headphones, and 5 hours of video. These times are diminished if listening through the ext. speaker. 36 hours on an Ipod? NEVER!

i must say though. the ipod touch is great.. really easy to use controls. nice big clear screen, but if your looking for something with a little less budget then the zen is for you. having watched loads of videos about the zen it has made me want one over the ITouch. purely for the fact ive just ordered one for £128 Uk. for the 16GB X-FI. plus it also comes down to your tastes.. but ipod definetly for the better features. but zen for its amazing price tag.:)

@Joe, on a Mac you need software. It's not showing up like a flashdrive, you need something called XNJB or something. Really annoying.

Man...i could write a 2000 word essay on why PCs are superior to macs. I don't REALLY want to start something but i don't understand why mac users think the way they do...confuses the HELL out of me. Macs are aesthetically pleasing...and thats it. If i wanted to spend an enormous amount of money i'd still buy a PC but it would be many many more times powerful than a mac of the same price.

oh....and they make ugly looking aluminium cases for PCs too <__< along with ugly looking glossy aluminium monitors and the freaking works...AND you can run mac OSX on a PC as well....so all you are paying for is the bloody logo...no reilability no nothing...PCs and macs use virtually the same parts...macs just cost more because of apples dumb gimicky crap <__<

It's a bit like saying to someone who bought a Ferrari, "Only stupid people buy a Ferrari, why buy it when you could steal it, sure it's illegal, but you would have a Ferrari, right?".
Apple Care wouldn't cover your computer. Plus, if you did install it on a PC, and patch the kernel, you'd have a lot of problems due to drivers and such, unless of course you'd buy the exact same parts as in a Mac, but then the price would be the same as in a Mac!

You couldn't be more wrong sir...macs use identical parts to PCs...the only difference between macs and pcs being the price....macs can cost up to 2x more than PCs with the EXACT SAME specifications...so why buy a mac when you could get something more powerful that WILL outperform it? I'd rather buy a better PC for the same price and install Mac OS X on it than buy a mac. There IS NO problems with patched versions of Macs OS X....not if its done properly, you argument is invalid...

well in my opinion, its not better than the ipod touch when it comes to the usability of the ipod touch. the Touch is capable of doing so much more than the zen x-fi, such as having full html internet access, purchasing music, movies right off of the ipod touch. having apps such as aim, myspace, email, and facebook direct connect. Plus a wide variety of other usefull programs that can be helpfull in everyday events. I have flight computers and aviation weather apps on my touch.

thats true, when it comes to "more bang for your buck" the zen wins. Especially if your just looking for a high capacity mp3/video player for the cheapest price. But if you want your mp3/video player to do anything else, your gonna have to pay for it, well at least for now.lol

also, i just hate how ipods work in general, because just the other day, i go to charge my (temporary) ipod in my friends computer and it fucking overwrites his 10,000 songs with my 500 on the ipod. Didn't even bring up a message asking to overwrite, it just did it

yeah I feel your pain, I've done that before and man, it sucks balls! lol. I guess everybody has there own opinion on ipods. I've had nothing but great experiences with both my ipod nano and touch. once I got a taste of all the features the touch had to offer, I just cant go back to anything else.

Why is wireless download very slow? I thought wireless B or G speeds were in the megabytes per second...aka less than a few seconds for a song...It does look like it needs some work yes.

this is better, better sound qualtiy, better durability, better wireless connectivity, and better value. 32 gb is only $250. Also supports external memory of an up to a 16gb SDHC card. Though lacking touch screen, i can pay th eprice of a touch screen for all this. Oh, did i mention it comes with a kickass pair of earphones unlike an ipod?

you are such a moron...and cheesy plastic? pffft, this player even though made of PLASTIC is fricken more durable than a ipod. Ipods suck. And Yes, this has a better wireless, it's a lot more stable than the ipod touches. And no, i don't think this has better sound quality because it says "x-fi" on it, it's a fact that this has a better amplifier in it for music, and the way it puts out the signals, is faster and far superior to the ipod. In fact, i would say, what ipod gives is at the least.

I second that. I have a LG Dare, with the HOPES of using it to replace my 2G iPod Nano. WRONG. The audio quality on it sucks bullocks. So, I;m considering taking the "joke" back as I've been calling it and just getting an enV2.
