What happened to Joe Louis was horrilbe but is not reflective of how ALL white American felt about him. Don't forget, the IRS stole from the white man just as readily as from the black man. Furthermore, Louis's advisors (who were black) gave him advice that was not sound. Had he paid his taxes on time he wouldn't have had such financial problems. The truth is, Joe Louis burned through his money faster than he did his women. That was the real problem, not the white man.
