It does not take that much pressure to puncture the lower part of your Larynx (where that is situated at) and crush the Trachea with that staff. Heck you could even do it with an unsharpened pencil or pen. Yes they do bend and that does dampen the force. But, so does my bamboo staff. The amount of pressure needed to bend them, to that extent. Is far greater than the pressure that is needed to puncture through with an unsharpened pencil. To say things are only one way is inane and arrogant.
While this is not an *easy* thing to do the real risk is in getting it wrong. If you look at the marks on his neck, you'll see the spear tips are at the very top of the sternum, they will not pierce the skin there, unless control is lost, in which case they would likely pierce the trachea.
@thebebopfan have you ever tried to press throat by finger? Tried? Unpleasantly, aren't? Try to press with more power... Spear has more pressing power... Even a bamboo spear... Especially with sharp spearhead...
@thebebopfan look at the video called "Shaolin Kungfu Demo 15- Pushing a Van with Spear onto Throat" on youtube. Monk do suchlike thing with a shot spear, which is unbending.
It'd be cool if they were sharp....

Man, those are some rusty spears. You better hope your iron throat holds up otherwise you'll need a tetanus shot training with those spears.

It's hard but not imposible. The trick is to bend stake. It's a little bit like walking on the fire - everybody can do this but looks great.

But did u try? I didn't believe that people can walk on fire but my mom did it for fun :D
This trick is harder but still not UNBELIVEABLE. It doesn't take so long to learn it.

You are right.

well can you do it? :P

1: There is a huge difference in the elasticity of bamboo and rattan.
2: You've obviously not done this kind of training before. If it was the way you describe it, this demonstration would be physically impossible.
