There will be a tab called windows above your drawing on the main window. Click it, and click recently closed docks. It'll bring back up your layers box for you.

how does the duplicating layers work? i tried duplicating so i dont ruin my original sketch ad can draw the background.. but it wont work ;c like i cant draw on my duplicated one ;CC

and it was a small chibi too.

Thanks <3 and yeah i learnt on my own ^_^ It is hard at first but just keep up the practice and you'll get better drawing by drawing(my first drawing with tablet are HORRIBLE lol)

Urm well some people only use 3/4 layers; 1 for rough sketch, another for lineart and then the other 1 or 2 for colouring. I'm not really sure how else to explain their use-...

Various digital artists use multiple layers to help separate parts of their drawing, and to prevent screwing up the whole thing.

By keeping the lineart seperate from the colors you avoid coloring over it or leaving a few white specs, and by separating highlights/ shadows over your base color you avoid messing up and having to do some major touch ups. Everyone has different methods for it, just play with it till you find the number of layers you need.

I tend to use just a normal round brush in GIMP but you can download lots of brushes for different looks.

Well when I first was looking for like a nice skin colour, I pulled up a manga picuture I had in gimp and used the tool that picks out colours and then you have your base colour for you skin ^_^
