Hamas was firing small rockets into civilian areas of the State of Israel, setting up an offensive military infrastructure which would later use the larger rockets possessed by Hezbollah. So Hamas knew it was placing civilians in great danger and Israel knew it had to destroy that military infrastructure before it could be supplied with advanced weapons. The BBC should not aid and abet Muslim charities which front for war mongerers.

The Palestinians have had 100 years to develop a good military infrastructure. At a time when they desperately need national development, they are split into two camps and killing each other. Since Israel will not allow Hamas to take power in the West Bank, the Palestinians should unify behind Fatah and start building their state. But the Palestinians seemingly cannot get beyond their chronic self destructiveness. They are not ready for self government.
Israel has made every effort to keep the palestinains separated and powerless so they can manipulate each side. If they all joined up behind one faction that had military strength, Israel would be threatened, that's the worst result for Israel. "Divide and conquer" is the rule for every imperialist.
Israel will either dominate the Eastern Mediterranean or cease to exist. So Israel has a natural motivation to remain strong and unified. The Palestinians should be motivated to be unified in order to develop their nation. They should unify under the Palestinian Authority in order to build the institutions to allow national development. Hamas is not an option for the Palestinians because Israel won't allow Hamas to take power in the West Bank.

So Hamas/Hezbollah are seen as good alternatives to Fatah, and Israel isn't giving them any reason to change.
The standard of living in Israel is much much higher than the standards of living in Egypt, Jordan, or Syria because Israel's economy is so much more highly developed. This economic power isn't going to be taken down by Hamas or Hezbollah without a catastrophic military struggle. Better that the Palestinians work with Israel to develop the Palestinian nation than to court total destruction in the hope that the Jihad can push Israel into the sea.
This. Israel is an economic power house and honestly I can't see that changing in the next 50 years. A more realistic solution would be compromise instead of open conflict. That way, Gaza can develop and organized and modernize instead of fighting one huge constant war.

what the video fails to mention is the argument of not knowing if all the aid it sends to the Hamas leaders in Gaza will go towards the causes they were meant for, rather than to re-arm.
Or whether only a small percentage of the aid will go to where it was intended to go.
I am not saying that aid should not be brought to the helpless children of Gaza. Just that a more effective route needs to be made to provide them with aid and prevent Hamas from having the potential to rearm.

The UN insists on supplying Hamas controlled Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid whether or not it or Hamas recognise each other, and such UN aid is a subsidy for Hamas to conduct terrorism. The UN could effectively intervene/protest by making its aid contingent upon Gazans rejecting Hamas' rule. Israel ignores UN resolution which are counter to Israel's wellbeing, which Israel can do because the UN does not recognise the Israel it did not sanction.

Contrary to the prevailing wisdom, democratic neighbours don't have to cooperate simply because they are democratic. Thus bilateral and/or multilateral agreements. Hamas cynically used democracy on the basis that Israel would be forced into cooperating with Hamas by the UN and the International Community, on the terms Hamas deemed fit, as it did when it provoked Israel into defensive action. Bin Laden can make the calls he makes, but it is up to those he is threatening to thwart his ambitions.

It is up to Gazans to consider what is in their self-interest when they cast their votes. However, if the consequences of their vote is that Israel, in this instance, must accept Hamas' mandate or face persistent and deadly action to coerce Israel into doing so, Gazans have used democracy in a cynical and self-defeating manner. If however, any violence and/or internecine conflict is contained with the clearly defined boundaries of Gaza Strip, Israel will have no objections, whatsoever.

I understand what you are saying. I too have noticed some strong bias out the BBC's reporting. But that is precisely the reason they should be ultra vigilant now about their reputation. It will mean that when they do have to be critical of Israel or whomever, it will have a greater impact.
Besides how much help do think the BBC will be about getting money to the Palestinians? They are hardly the only news outlet around.

Hamas was firing small rockets into civilian areas of the State of Israel, setting up an offensive military infrastructure which would later use the larger rockets possessed by Hezbollah. So Hamas knew it was placing civilians in great danger and Israel knew it had to destroy that military infrastructure before it could be supplied with advanced weapons. The BBC should not aid and abet Muslim charities which front for war mongerers.

The Palestinians have had 100 years to develop a good military infrastructure. At a time when they desperately need national development, they are split into two camps and killing each other. Since Israel will not allow Hamas to take power in the West Bank, the Palestinians should unify behind Fatah and start building their state. But the Palestinians seemingly cannot get beyond their chronic self destructiveness. They are not ready for self government.

Israel will either dominate the Eastern Mediterranean or cease to exist. So Israel has a natural motivation to remain strong and unified. The Palestinians should be motivated to be unified in order to develop their nation. They should unify under the Palestinian Authority in order to build the institutions to allow national development. Hamas is not an option for the Palestinians because Israel won't allow Hamas to take power in the West Bank.

Exactly, Israel and its neighbours cannot naturally get along becase their elites don't want to get along. The difference is the Israel leadership has a common goal, the PA leaders who are pragmatic and will negotiate with Israel are not supported by the majority of the people because of the resentment against Israel created by Israel and Hamas-like organizatoins. So Hamas/Hezbollah are seen as good alternatives to Fatah, and Israel isn't giving them any reason to change.

The standard of living in Israel is much much higher than the standards of living in Egypt, Jordan, or Syria because Israel's economy is so much more highly developed. This economic power isn't going to be taken down by Hamas or Hezbollah without a catastrophic military struggle. Better that the Palestinians work with Israel to develop the Palestinian nation than to court total destruction in the hope that the Jihad can push Israel into the sea.

Israel left Gaza in 2005. Israel took all soldiers and Israeli citizens out of Gaza. There are no Israeli settlers in Gaza. In fact, not a single Jewish person is left in Gaza. Then the Gazans under Hamas thanked Israel for ending the Israeli military occupation of Gaza firing rockets on Israeli civilian settlements in an attempt to make life in Southern Israel impossible for anyone. Why do you support the Hamas attacks on unarmed Israeli civilians?

And why does the Israel side always only tell half the story. This situation didn't start with Israel pulling out of the Gaza strip!
But then, they pulled out for many reasons
1) to show they respond to internaitonal pressure
2) to split the PA (since keeping the illegal settlements in the West Bank makes their situation quite different from Gaza)
3) to "show" how Gazans cannot make themselves into a Hong Kong, despite the embargo, lack of functioning economy, lack of trade, lack of capital, etc

The Gazans want war. They kept up their bombardments of Southern Israel for years even though Israel constantly threatened a broad attack. No Palestinian alive is ignorant of what such an attack would involve. Palestinians remember how the Israelis drove the PLO out of Lebanon and yet they kept up their bombardments. At what point do the Palestinians take responsibility for their lives? When will they learn they can't attack Israel militarily and have normal lives?

Hamas controls Gaza. Hamas is the government of Gaza. Hamas is responsible for the well being of the people of Gaza. Hamas chose to attack Israel militarily while knowing that it lacked the capacity to protect the population of Gaza from the Israeli retaliation they knew would eventually come. Hamas has destroyed Gaza since the Israeli military occupation ended but instead of holding Hamas responsible, the Palestinians apparently have stronger support for Hamas. That's hard to understand.

And Hamas' attacks were not "military", they were for terrorist intent.

First, Hamas refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist while Israel accepts the Palestinian Authority as the legitimate representative of the Palestinians. Second, Hamas calls for an Islamic State in all of Palestine which means no more Israel. Those are cold, hard facts. Plus Hamas is trying to drive the Jewish people out of Southern Israel with its bombardments directed at civilian areas. Note: Egypt is also blockading Gaza and not recognizing Hamas but Hamas is not bombarding Egypt.

Israël was defeated by a small brigade. If you retard new anything about war, you would know that before a country goes to war it has to set its goals. None of Israëls goals were met (stop rocket fire, end Hamas rule), it didnt even reach anything but the suburbs of Gaza-city, if they had balls, if they act like you say, the pussies should have went to the center of Gaza-city, then they are credible. All they did is destroy the city, that is never a victory, it was never the goal.

The object of war is to acquire territory and to batter the enemy. Neither side acquired any more territory. As far as battering the enemy, Israel beat the living crap out of Hamas including killing two of the top level leaders of the Hamas Army. Another goal of war is to fight the battle on the turf of the enemy and not on your own. This war was fought almost entirely in Gaza and Gaza took a royal ass kicking thanks to Hamas' stupidity, incompetence and negligence.

You're confusing Hamas' political rhetoric with what it can acutally do. Sometimes they say that, sometimes they say they just want a return to 1967 borders, or a withdrawl of all illegal settelments from the West Bank, etc, so you can just pick and choose which statements you want to focus on.
Also, remember that Zionists say all of Palestine belongs to them and they'll force out all non-Jews since Israel is a purely Jewish state.

Both sides want it all for themselves and both sides want the other completely out. No question. The problem with Lebanon and Israel is the forces fighting these wars are backed by outside powers who are using the Lebanese, the Israelis and the Palestinians for their own ends. When it's over, no one knows what it will look like. And the people who think they will win and have the power will be in reality owned by outside empires (Iran or USA). But we must remember that Hezbollah/Hamas' funding from Iran is insignifigant compared to the US$3bil+/year that the US gives to Israel.
Also, no one ever talks about Israel as being terrorsits when they're worse than Hamas/Hezbollah. That's why many think its racist for BBC to refuse. If it had been someone's attack on Israel that caused a massive humanitarian crisis there would be no discussion about airing a fund-raising add, it would go on air within hours!

You're forgetting that there are two empires fighting for control of the Middle East. Iran is trying to drive the USA out and the USA is surrounding Iran on all sides with the US military. Any money going to Gaza by means of Muslim charities and raised on the BBC will go directly to the Iranian proxy Army, Hamas. This isn't going to be facilitated by the BBC. Why don't the supporters of Iran advertise on Al Jazeera so they can fund the Hamas total destruction of Gaza?
