toy? the theremin works great with with the violins, it sounds like a spooky sci fi thriller soundtrack. its more interesting than anything classical music has done in a hundred years or so
The sound of this theremin is so out of place with these classical instruments. I almost lol'd its so goofy. I think a gutbucket playing Beethoven would sound more at home!
Don't get me wrong, thereamins are neat, and I want one to mess around with, but dang...with a tone like that, I don't think they'll ever be considered more than a fascinating electronic toy. Maybe it can see a revival in pop music?
I have to agree, though in another video by the same artist it does have a more 'harmonic' chart "Carolina Eyck - Theremin plays Alhambra" is the name of the video.
It could be made to fit, you'd just need to work on the tone... a -lot-, but hey, wouldn't be fitting for it to be simple either, eh?
This is part of an original composition for Theremin (for a change) by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinû (Fantasia). the oboe part is played by Heinz Holliger, still one of the leading oboists in the world! (and a prolific composer, too)
Actually its not played very well. Its a shame. She plays like a beginner. Listen to Clara Rockmore and you may understand.

Watch the videos by Clara Rockmore or Lydia Kavina here on YT and realize that you are just being ignorant...

having a different opinion from someone else does not auto make them ignorants. However i do agree theremin is underrated.
