went into a local 3.2% beer place called poor boys and they had garage bands playing stuff like this exciting. even had a good friend who could peck it out on the organ and sang pretty cool
First time I've ever seen this group these guys looked ad though they'd been around a long time already when I asume this song came out when I was in H.S.
These guys played at my grammar school in the 60's., in Brooklyn, NY. Also, believe it or not "The Moody Blues" also played there. Tickets were $2.50 at the door. WMCA radio sponsored "The Good Guy Shows" back then. Many popular groups appeared there. Fun times........
at first they wanted to call this song 69 tears but they had to change it back then.... its just something i was told is it true???? mysterians and ac/dc are family related
@tryby12 Yes, my friend, the original title of this song was "69 Tears", but there was a belief that radio stations would not play a song with such a title as that - as the term "69" was in use as a euphemism during that time.
Te numbers were flipped from "69" to "96" and with that, the song would become a hit.

This was a big hit back in the day, when I was a kid, with my transistor radio. But, I had no idea they looked like this. They sounded English to me. lol.
I learned to play this on the organ when I was 13 and it was the coolest hit back then and the band was so underated. As so many bands back then the talent was unbelievable in the late 60s just astronomical and today NOTHING just junk. Sorry for the attitude but there is nothing in the last 10 years worth a crap. It seems like since 2000 the talent has disapeared and nothing but teeny icons and GAGA s.
