  • First time I've ever seen this group these guys looked ad though they'd been around a long time already when I asume this song came out when I was in H.S.

  • That was weird.

  • I do not understand the text but this is music! :)

  • These guys played at my grammar school in the 60's., in Brooklyn, NY. Also, believe it or not "The Moody Blues" also played there. Tickets were $2.50 at the door. WMCA radio sponsored "The Good Guy Shows" back then. Many popular groups appeared there. Fun times........

  • Apparently ? decided to name himself after the questionable way he dresses. Rudy Martinez is definitely a better name...

  • really great song...total classic... this video is excellent, all the way !!!!

  • The white-on-black keyboard is badass

  • lol

  • I cry more then 96 tears...

  • VOX Continental organs Rock!

  • at first they wanted to call this song 69 tears but they had to change it back then.... its just something i was told is it true???? mysterians and ac/dc are family related

  • @tryby12 Yes, my friend, the original title of this song was "69 Tears", but there was a belief that radio stations would not play a song with such a title as that - as the term "69" was in use as a euphemism during that time.

Te numbers were flipped from "69" to "96" and with that, the song would become a hit.

  • ha ha

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A REMAKE. NEWER.

  • YA. WHO CAME FIRST? THIS GUY OR MICK JAGGER?

  • Simple bass/keyboard groove and this song still rocks like it did back in the day!!

  • The ratio of teardrops to heart is way too big. Sorry, 60s dude. <3

  • Truly one of the best songs from the 60s. I wish all of the groups from the 60s were as true to their original sound as this group obviously still is. Thanks for posting this.

  • I like the song but the older black n white version is way better. It sounds more like the original studio recording.

  • Com'on Martinez te volviste PUTO (guy)

  • Much better by Big Maybelle, I'm afraid, but this isn't too bad.

  • wow the lead singer looks like fred armisen.....

  • Simple...groovy...awesome!?#

  • this cat's "gayness" only adds to the infinite mystery. ...this hetero dude says, "...friggin' great song! "

  • This was a big hit back in the day, when I was a kid, with my transistor radio. But, I had no idea they looked like this. They sounded English to me. lol.

  • Hey Quess, what up?

  • MY MOM AND DAD ON CLARENDON ROAD IN BROOKLYN NY DANCING TO THIS...

  • @exgroupiefromelmont1 yes! yes! yes!

  • I learned to play this on the organ when I was 13 and it was the coolest hit back then and the band was so underated. As so many bands back then the talent was unbelievable in the late 60s just astronomical and today NOTHING just junk. Sorry for the attitude but there is nothing in the last 10 years worth a crap. It seems like since 2000 the talent has disapeared and nothing but teeny icons and GAGA s.

  • abysswhisperer...regardless of his lifestyle he and his neestows (brothers) made a hit. Especially during the mid and late sixties to hear and/or see First Nation brothers and/or sisters hit the music charts. thumbs up from me.

  • This is one of the catchiest songs I've ever heard.

  • I like this song . . . I keep coming back to play it. My friends think this guy is just funny the way he moves (specially at the beginning of the video).

  • thats how u get girls...

  • ! YES !

  • i dunno if they play this song in hell or not" lol i wanna stay as far away from that place as possible ! maybe im wrong for likeing it as a christian- but love the organ sound...

  • @jamestee007 There you go again with your obsessive compulsive religion disorder.

  • @jgbalboa That is one of the best comments I've seen on You Tube about anything. I think I'm going to steal it.

  • @nellgwenn Thank you; glad you like it :-)

  • @jamestee007 why does it matter if your christian

  • @jamestee007 ----good grief you xristians and your guilt trips! get over it and dig the groove; lifes too short to worry about if youre going to hell if you listen to great music. so hes probably gay or whatever, who the hell cares?

  • oh yea 69 Mach 1 backseat and jamming to this bad ass song NEED MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALOT OF HORSE POWER AND THE SUM 351 CLEVLAND 4 BAR` CARB

  • One of the all time greatest! I know. I was there.

  • Original title: 69 Tears. Studio brass made them change it.

  • Did they have more than this one hit or was this it? I remember the tune from back then...I played drums in a number of bands during that era and we played the song...got good response from the "ladies"...~! That was my main reason for playing...Band members got the hot women~~!

  • arriba mexicooo

  • and sometimes the simple songs are the best. I always like the bridge of the song.

  • Hello to the band! This song is deceptively difficult to perform. If you don't get it just right... watch out. It's so bare bones but so totally brilliant.

  • I like the off beat nature of the video and it is a neat song.

  • This song is so awesome it makes me cry... Cry, cry, cry!

  • Who has been together longer-these guys or ZZ Top

  • Sorry, but The Stranglers won on this.

  • I got to see these guys a few years ago. It was as if those 40 years had never transpired. What a trip.

  • Does anyone know what song was on the flipside of this song on the 45rpm record?

  • @popobone6617 it was "midnight hour" and both songs were recorded in the living room of their manager, lilly gonzales.

  • @popobone6617 "Midnight Hour"

  • cheap clothes,cheap background=great music.

  • after 45 years i have answered the question; ? was a 1966 metrosexual

  • @JadesUsernamesTaken ? was a flaming homosexual.

  • @LesPaulMan1993 - Oh?

Call the Fire Dept., then. Hurry!

  • @7855waldo Yeah, my uncle toured with them on drums in the 60's apparently he once brought some drag prostitutes into their hotel and they quickly found out that he got male prostitutes. Apparently he did that sort of stuff a lot.

  • @LesPaulMan1993 funny fact...I love this song. It so reminds me of better days!!!

  • man i so dig this video....too groovey

  • Way ahead of their time, I did the math, these guy were probably in their 50's in '98, and they look great. I think they got better with age, can you imagine how many times they performed this song over the last 45 years? I'm 51 and I remember hearing this on the radio in grade school, loved it then, still is a great. A huge contribution to rock history! Thanks for posting it.

  • For all you headbangers, thrash metal fans, rappers, whatever....remember this 1966 Garage Punk is the GREATEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME!

  • I think the time has come to upgrade the wardrobe - just a bit!!!! Try and bring it into the 1980's at least!!!!!! That 1960's stuff is gone, baby!!!!!!!!

  • hard proof that old guys rock

  • Yep...that is really them....I had the chance to meet and photograph one of their shows a few years ago and they are the greatest to sit and chat with.

  • Prince raided this guy's wardrobe! This is a great song. I Loved it ever since it was released.

  • Awesome classic. In drama the only element needed is action - only an actor and a stage - no set, props, dialog, special effects or other bullshit. The best talent can put the message across with little or nothing.

This song is about as simple as they get - but, if frickin rocks!!!!!

  • I was 16 and i play flipper in a bar and heard on a jukebox this great song , wow , i became ... a rocker ...arghhhhh

  • Thumbs up if you love the GNG Rio and GNG Jem dolls used in this video. Love their outfits too.

  • El Sonido del Organo <3

  • Preciosura de Canción

  • Algo excéntrico pero sin duda mi canción favorita OBRA MAESTRA

  • This is not bad - a "new" edition of the song, and I like it. So much so that I have added it to my favorites.

Very good, and thanks for posting, friend!

  • Love the song, hate the video.

  • Man that song brings back soooo many memories. We had our own little garage band back in the 60's. Those guys were the best Tex-Mex garage band of all time. I just dug up a cassette tape of theirs I bought years ago "The Dallas Reunion Tapes". It is a real kickass live performance.96 Tears Forever.........

  • I always wanted to see these guys... maybe oneday if they are still out there.

  • LoVe ThEm!!!

  • Too bad ? lost everything he owned in a house fire a few years back. Local Detroit musicians did a benefit fir him to help him with some of the costs to get him some clothes, etc...

  • A classic! But dude, you're not singing "Leave it to the Bossa Nova" (thank God!) so try a different shirt. Love that great little organ with the black keys that was a staple of so many classics of that era-no need for the jumbo two-tiered keyboard instrument of today.

  • 96th trans 1967

  • 700,000 views and counting. U gotta love it.

  • He claims to have written this song when he was 10, oh and he 100% certain that he came from Mars

  • they look good because they don't use drugs like most bands do.

  • I think this video was made in 98, Barbie might be older, not sure though. =-)

  • @silvertork I know you're probably joking, but for the benefit of people who don't have any idea what came out when, Barbie has been wreaking havoc on this planet since 1959.

  • @silvertork

Barbie is older than this video since barbie came out on March 1959.

It is older by 3 years when 96 tears came out.

however, the members of this band are older than barbie.

  • This is the original band, and they re-recorded it. Which is what we have here.

  • These guys were great when i was young and they're just as good now. Thanks for putting this up.
