  • 1:32 Yea I caught that little ghost note, now you're getting too technical for Rudd.

I'm just joking but i just wanted to point it out

  • cool

  • I went from watching, "How to make cool COD Black ops emblems, to Freddiew videos, to the price is right, and now this........ O_o

  • Want to be a drummer?? press 3 then 6 ^^

  • press 7 repeatedly, hes wanking.

  • This is one of the best one's out there, I try to learn all the time and this guys instructions are nice, cool

  • yo should make a full cover of the song

  • Good SHO!

  • This is very cool. I am a drummer and also a singer. I agree 100% with the comment above this. I am always open and there is always something new to learn. I thank all of you out there for the opportunity to learn more and inspiring me about creativity. Check out my drum cover, "Gimme Shelter." Look under Diana Lynn Howard. I am looking forward to working on this song! Thank you.

I thank all of you out there for the opportunity to learn more and inspiring me about creativity. Check out my videos. Look under Diana Lynn Howard. I have 14 singing videos so far and finally got my first drum cover, "Gimme Shelter" on here. Give me a listen and let me know how you like it. I am looking forward to learning how to play this

  • thanks man I`m a great fan of AC/DC

  • kron 294 you tube

  • Great video :-) Since I saw this video, I use the Hi-Hat the same way as you demonstrate! I did this video too! I can only use my right arm so it is one handed.

  • kron294 you tube

  • i'm diggin this Charlie, you hippie, rock on! \m/

  • i love your videos, Im a beginner (and i have 15 :/) and your videos help me a lot

  • this whole album made me believe i could learn the drums. It's simple and to the point.

  • Very good Video.

    What Sticks are you using?

  • i play drums

  • @brianmcclane congratualtions, do you want a cookie?

  • Shaggy plays the drums? Haha where's Scooby? Lol In all seriousness; Charlie Waymire is sick. I have him as an instructor over @ MI.

  • 3:25 Franchise Fill -trademark(R) A simple fill, yet so great, off of a great album too.

  • i think it would be better if you could slow it down a bit for people then play at normal pace ie like me coz i learn better like that when its played slow coz i can see whats going on better

  • good good good :) fikouu bom

  • sugus = Moron. There I came down to your level!

  • a video that actually teaches you an incredibly simple beat. yeah this will help a WHOLE lot.....

  • You're a HUMONGOUS faggot

  • should title this "How too play drums on every ACDC song too date"

  • @Murmaidergrind66 LOL so true

  • I'll take Danny Carry any day

  • Comment removed

  • yeah right you think you can take Daney Carey

  • @ironmaidenNicko666 No no no I mean I would rather have Danny Carry than this guy. I can't drum

  • i dont understand drums there cool but i dont under stand them at all - im i a bass player

  • ME TOO!!! my teacher tried making me play drums but i cant.

  • you being a bass player explains it.

  • i believe this guy majored in rock groovology in college

  • You look like a young Phil Rudd without the sunglasses

  • phil is best

  • This is a great instructional break down of a classic rock and roll beat by a great rock and roll band!

    Thanks Charlie, PIT and DRUM!!

  • LOL! its so funny how people can comment on someones drumming style but yet wont post themselves playing. i have been playing drums for 13 years now and i still learn something new each day. if you so called drummers think your better than this guy , why dont you upload a video of you drumming ,and lets see how good you are.

  • i second that..

except i only got 5 years under my belt hah

  • its cool, we all know Phils just an average 4/4 beat drummer, thats why he was so easy replace back in the eightys when he got booted, NOT!

  • Comment removed

  • @mosquewatcher yeah your right but then i dont need to prove myself to anyone. and by the way the comment i made was just a comment .nothing else.you looked way too much into it.

  • @mosquewatcher

Actually mosque, you're kind of missing cookie's point here. He's saying anyone criticizing this guy should upload a video of their own. He doesn't need to prove drumming ability to support his statement. I have zero drumming ability, and I completely agree with him.

  • @cookiegod39 Couldn't have said it any better!

  • @cookiegod39 Totally agree with you,I play drums but i'm only a beginning and this guy is quite great!!

  • @cookiegod39 yeah, my tutor is a grand dad and still says he's learning all the time, I am 11 and been learning neary half my life so far LOL!

  • cool lesson and all but why is this featured over millions of other lessons?

  • Comment removed

  • Today on DRUM!, we'll teach you how to play overly simple beats so that you can be overshadowed by obnoxious guitarists! Learn how to be a backdrop for other people's skill! Learn how to sell yourself short!

  • LOL !! Good one ! :- }

  • @iHaveAnger Today on DRUM, we'll teach you how to be an average drummer instead of going out and learning by ear like 95% of drummers do! YAY!

  • dude drums are a back up instrument... how often do you see someone just jam on drums and sing it's ok though i feel your pain on bass

  • yeah, rock music would sound great if the emphasis was on the drumming -_-

  • @iHaveAnger Hey not all guitarists are obnoxious... that just a stereotypical comment

  • phil rudd does nothing. There's no real rhyme or reason to his beats, he's just incapable of playing anything other than a 4/4 stomp-fest. Try Jeff Porcaro if you want someone who is simplistic but actually has talent.

  • You couldn't BE more wrong. if you can't grasp that "approach" to hit-making, your an idiot.

now go back to your garage, and keep working on all those spastic, ultra-busy, useless "Rad" drum Fills that don't mean shit, but to a bunch of army-boot wearin', Goth-Garb sportin' little Jordanson Minion's. lame.

  • its cool, you don't expect amatures will get it

  • ignorrant ass bites all think a ACDC is so easy, yeah easy to play , hard to play right

very few drummers get it right.

  • @skipstalforce Because they get so bored and start improvising. Oh, I'm sorry, improvise isn't in your vocabulary. Good drummers play simple beats but mix them up into something complex. This is why Phil Rudd is constantly made fun of; he doesn't change ANYTHING. So go out and listen to Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, etc.

  • pretty average mics on the drums for an institute of higher learning pretty lame and lame studio

  • What kind of self-respecting drummer needs outside instruction to play this song? Or any ACDC song, for that matter?

Quarter Notes on the hi hat

Bass on beats 1 and 3

    Snare on 2 and 4

    Crash every 4 measures.

Eighth-note tom/snare fills just before each crash.

That, more or less, sums it up.

  • Exactly, the average middle schooler learning drums plays this just as well! Complexity? What the hell is he talking about. This is as simple as it gets. Break down Mike Portnoy or Neil Peart! THEN I will be impressed!

  • their albums with simon and chris have other things

  • get some fucking balls

  • @guigowlo oh I got big balls..big ones I tell ya

  • Stick around, because later in the series we're going to have James and Kirk from metallica show you how to downpick on the e string.

  • too bad that song sux

  • lol......this is silly,......yeah it's a classic but whatever it's still a beginner song.

  • Lol. He's the ultimate rock drummer because he's aggressive, like Dave L, but without any talent? The song is basic as hell. 2/4 and common time only drummers only belong in Pop. Get that shit outta here dude.

    Nice name though, drum.

  • Phil Rudd is NOT the best drummer in the world, okay? Please stop portraying his drum beats as something "so complex and hard to do"

  • @dark0hell agreed :D

  • shut up or put up a video

  • I dont play drums, but I like to watch these instructional vids.

  • hey what size cymbals are good for this kind of song??

  • big cymbals... 14 hats and 20 crashes 22 ride... at least xD

  • so simple yet so great. phil is badass

  • nice lesson!

  • Definitely better quality with an overhead microphone guys.

    PH

  • WOW!!! like the drums to this song is so difficult! fuck me running!

  • no way this is where im goin to collage

  • what's that fill factor he says?I cant understand!

  • He is saying PHIL factor. As in Phil Rudd.

  • niceee, lol i always play hi-hat and snare nd i was basicly playin an ac/dc song!

  • hahaha

  • whats the easiest way to record for a drum cover?

  • the easiest is to just take a camera and start record but then you will get crappy quality. You might wanna buy a mic with usb cable and hang it over your drums. Then record with your computer

  • Actually it goes Phil Rudd+Drums= Genius

  • youre and idiot

  • Phil Rudd= genius.

  • PHIL IS MY IDLE!!!!!!!!! He is the whole reason why I play drums.

  • Comment removed

  • Phil does not show, which makes him unique, plus his rythms keep up with Angus and Malcolm without over doning things you know? Nicko is another one of my faves...His high energy gets me going.

  • @acdcrocker2009 I'd rather be a drummer like Nicko than be a metronome like Phil

  • He's definitely not the best, but his drum parts do compliment the music, which is all you really have to do. I guess.

  • You mean "Idol."

"Idle" would suggest that you are a car that is running, but isn't going anywhere.

  • This song is so easy but so fun to play.

  • then who made the drum beat for this song chris or phil

  • Phil.

  • I wish some Joey Jordison wannabees would watch this vid.

  • well id love to be as good as joey and im watchin .. i appriciate most drum styles

  • Well good for you!

  • Comment removed

  • poor chris

  • You Shook Me was on the Back in black album which came out in 1980. Phil was fired in 1983 after the flick of the switch sessions and was replaced by Wright.

  • you are right. he was fired in 83 bcuz if i remember right he had both addiction problems and the story goes that he tried to get with malcolms wife and malcolm found out and socked him.. literally and figuratively.

  • You are 100% wrong! Phil Rudd 'left' the band after recording the Flick of The Switch Album. Simon Wright played for the FOTS tour, but he didn't record it, or any albums before that. Trust me, don't argue with this AC/DC fan!

  • hey now what about who made who and blow up ur video?

  • wrong!!!!! You really don't know shit about AC/DC to say such a thing. YSMANL is in the legendary Back in Black album. Just 'cause Wright was in the (1986) video for Who Made Who doesn't mean the re-recorded the song.....

  • Phil IS the original drummer on You Shook Me. He recorded all of the Back in Black album, including the FTATRWSY album. The music video for You Shook Me All Night Long wasn't released until around 1985, which is why Simon Wright is in it. Rudd was the original recording on the album though.

  • pfff.... So bad.... He plays AC/DC with his hi-hat closed....

  • This is not you shock me all night long

  • yes it is fukface

  • No its not You SHOCK Me All Night Long

  • hey you spelt it wrong u idiot

  • it's a good thing. but you need fast solo's once in a while. angus is the one that shreds all day like a maniac.

  • anyone can play this. phil rud isnt a tricky drummr. he's very simple

  • So? He makes it groove. Let's see you pull it off note for note with the same feel.

  • rudd's good.. like Scotti said, 90% of ACDC songs have the simple KICK SNARE KICK SNARE beat. he makes it sound good though

  • I'm sorry but that sounds slow and laboured compared to the studio original.

If you try to scientifically dissect genius, sometimes you find it to be self-defeating.

  • set your watch to Rudd's rhythm because he is a time machine.

  • I will agree that it doesn't have to be complex to be effective, but I think a song needs a little more out of a drummer than Rudd usually puts in. I learned about 15acdc songs in two days when I subbed in for a friends cover band a couple years ago. I had only played for a year and a half at that point too...

  • fuck you to hell

for those about to rock we salute you

  • And you are the gayest person I have seen in my life you filthy piece of fucking shit see you in hell.

  • ...fucking idiot cocksucker dylanheflin!!

  • u suck more, Rudd Kicks Butt!

  • Yeah, but he doesn't need to be a flashy drummer, flashy drummers are great for things like Zeppelin or the who, but AC/DC are more straightforward heavy rock n roll. Phil does what he needs to.

  • Charlie was my private instructor at MI. Such a cool dude. If any of you drummers out there are thinking about attending, stop thinking and GO!

MI is amazing. The teachers are amazing. The experience is amazing.

  • this guy is great(Y)

  • dude you only talked about the song you didnt even show me how to play it!

  • He looks like a young Danny Carey!

  • he looks like tony hawk

  • nice, very helpfull.

  • Phill Rudd isnt the Ultimate rock drummer...

    We all know its Bonham

  • Rock is about groove and spilling your guts into it.

Rudd does both of those things better than any other rock drummer. Therefore, he is the ultimate rock drummer. It isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

  • but phill wasnt the drummer for this song.he wasnt in the band during this time.they had a different drummer during this album

  • He is, on the Back in Black album.

  • OH sorry I Just Thought He Wasnt Because In The Actully Video They Have Another Drummer Playing It.I Forget His Name tho

  • The video was filmed for the promotion of the semi-compilation album Who Made Who and thats why Simon Wright is on the video but Rudd played on the original 1980 BIB song.

  • oh sorry i forgot to read this comment

  • simon wright

  • Are you fucking retarded?

  • I try Not To Think Of It as a "Retard".But Excuse Me For Not Being Alive Then SINCE IM ONLY 16!

  • I am only 16 too. Age doesn't mean shit.

  • of course he was

  • He left the band -83 and Back In Black came -80. So yes, he was in the band.

  • nope, i think phil came in in 1973 or '74, you shook me all night long is from 1980 album back in black

  • Phil was hired in February 1975.

  • yeah but the drummer when they released this alblum was simon wright

  • best song in the history of rock

  • just got my drums today=) (christmas) and really wanted to learn a good song quickly! i looked at this and now i can almost play u shook me all night long perfectly! thx mate

  • accually to get back ito the beat he does flams on all the toms to

  • no he doesn't. believe me, I know my Rudd-stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • yes he does. believe me, I know my Rudd-stuff.

  • if you mean flams in the break before the second verse, try again, because the answer is no. only a flam on the snare...

  • whatever thats how i interperted it and thats how im gonna play

  • its some what tricky to get it down but keep on learning and it will come some beats are tricky for me but its still a good song to learn and i love taking on songs to paly as a chanllge and just to plain have fun thats what its all about

  • its kind of hard to pickup the fill in for the hi hat, when I'm playing it seems very plain because I'm not quite sure how the hi hat fill in should be played. I'im a beginner so its hard to pick up on, even though its not the best song to try as a beginner. but your ill bro, this is my favorite ACDC song too

  • i already new this song and ive been playing since i could make an attemped and some drum lessons on this are over complicated and let me just say U ARE THE MAn phil rudd is amazing and i admire him for his passion hes my model drummer and u are awsome

  • the DRUM group really help me out a lot when trying to learn songs.

  • this rocks ill try it and work with it

  • Really great for those drummers that are just starting to put beats together and want to play a song. Awesome 5/5

  • Wow your amazing, you certainly helped me out on learning this song :P thanks.

  • you rock!!!
