Simon Pegg was Terribly Miscast as the Enterprise's'Engineer Mr. Scott. he was just awful and made a Mockery out of the Role. Mr. Scott is an Engineering Genius. to be believable as one of the Best Engineers in Starfleet he has to be well experienced which denotes confidence in his ability by others.he has to be able to handle pressues that ordinary men can't handle. He stays dramtic and lets off steam like no one else can at the most unbelievable times which comes across as comedic only.

@Roadracer987654321 you forget that in TOS we don't see how Scotty get aboard the Enterprise nor his history. He's always been a bit of a joker and thats part of why we love him so much. Simon Pegg is truly a wonderful actor and for the part...the START of Scotty aboard the Enterprise he did a wonderful job. I think you need to re-watch TOS again.

@PBOreoCookieGirl The only thing I thought odd about the new Scotty was his age. Our Mr Scott from TOS always seemed to be 10 or 15 years older than Kirk, but this new scotty, while very funny, seems younger if anything the new kirk. Not a complaint mind you, just an observation.

@Robert08010 Yep, just checked. Simon Pegg (Scotty) is 41 and Chris Pine is 31 which would make them about ten years apart like in TOS.

@TheCreepingLullaby Wow, that's funny. Their real life ages coorespond perfectly! Just based on their appearance on screen, I would not have guessed that at all. To me, Simon didn't look that much older. Thanks for the info. It might matter in 20 years when this batch are "the old guys".
