Sounds great. Similar to "Single Pigeon", "Martha My Dear" - all those McCartney fans love, and Joe Public hasn't got a clue about. I am glad I have a clue. :)
I don't think I've ever heard if there is one particular song he cited as influence. He just had songs where he just paid tribute to his own Father's love for Dixieland (pre-Swing) Jazz.
Wasn't it a Fred Astaire song in a movie that inspired McCartney to write this old school song? Can't remember which song it was, but Macca did mention that when asked why he made a song like this in contrast to all his other rock and pop stuff. Most versatile singer/songwriter ever.
Oh, and Audrey Hepburn. Every time I see that face I light up.
what a darling channel you've created....i love this sing....i played that record till it wore out in 1975,and the images youve put to it are so right.
Thanks for posting. Sometime these classic can light up your day and this is a good way to start mine. Thanks Very fine posting. 5 star production. --:)Rod
I think the audition quote goes something like this. "He can't sing, he can't act. He can dance a little". Lol. Am I right in thinking that he wanted to be a singer, more than anything else?
who even remembers this tip o'th hat paulie used to turn out every now and again for his old man and that crowd? (see:"honey pie" and "your mother should know"). and how appropos to combine the music to the master of film dance! i could not help but wonder...in this picture are you audrey? well done nonetheless, old girl, well done!
Excellent visuals to one of my favorite Wings songs. Paul McCartney said this son was inspired by Fred Astaire.
