I spin fire poi, but I don't go to poi tutorials. I come here (: you're a great teacher and I already have this move down after just one day of practicing! It's not perfect, but I got a spin goin on >-<
This guy is great, but for those still having trouble with this difficult move, check out "Poi Spinning Tutorial: How to Learn Hyperloops" by meenik.
That video explains the concepts behind the move and why your hands need to be where they are to get it to work. Watching this video I got it in 1 day, after weeks of struggling.
@MaxtheWolf100 you can get glow-sticks like the ones hes using either at a party-store or and other places have them as a lanyard thing to hang on your neck for visibility during halloween or whatever i think they have them at walmart
I got into glowstringing 2 weeks ago, and thanks to your videos, i'm making alot more progress than i thought i would. I decided to tackle the orbital first and mastered it in 3 days, the 3 beat weave just came together, the corkscrew gave me some problems but that's because i was impatient and wanted to speed things up, but i got it in the second day, which led to the main goal which was the windmill. there are others that ive done, but i'm running out of characters. I just wanted to say thanks
how much harder is it to do orbitals with flowlights? with the leashes provided by flowtoys. I can do it with my sock poi but it doesn't spin for that long and its stretching out my sock poi :/ which isn't bad but i think orbitals look better with a brighter light i.e flowlight. and whenever i try an orbital with the flowlights it doesn't catch correctly. I can do an airwrap so i'm thinking it might e the leashes but idk. btw. Great videos :D
thanks man this really helped me. the way you explain it helps me understand what is happening and how to make it happen. I got this done in less than a week
@riojichang ... first off this move takes a lot of practice and patience... it took me 4 months to learn this one. secondly, make sure you only let the strings wrap up about half way to 1 full wrap around each other, anything more and it'll make knots.
Do the glowsticks atcually do the orbital at all or do they just wrap up and knot?
@AquaThane They wrap up and knot. I just started a few days ago after looking at some of your videos. Thought it would be interesting to learn something really amazing. I'm still having a hard time keeping a straight plane and when I try to wrap them together it creates a big knot as soon as I pull. So nop it doesn't do the orbital at all:(.
Mmmm, well could be that you're not spinning fast enough, ooor that maybe you're not pulling at the right time / hard enough. I know you'll get it in time though... at least it is spinning for you though... always a great thing! =)

what kind of strings do you use?
cookiechip1231 9 months ago
I need some help. Every time I try to wrap the strings it creates a big freaking knot.

this outcome looks very much like the buzz saw, and the orbital is way harder to do. whats the point of doing this? why not stick with the buzzsaw?

i love how the hardest part for me is getting the strings to wind up, yet i never have a problem with that when i do anything else >.<
Great tutorial i now know how it works i just need to figure out how to get my strings to wrap around eachother .
