Just to clarify for people...

I'm in the band. I know that the drum sounds bad on this recording, but thats exactly why it sounds bad: it's a recording. The camera is not able to pick up on the heavy bass sound it produces, so all you hear is the rattle. If you witness the drum in person, you would understand just how loud and booming it is.

@ROWANband The drum gets new heads every year. It doesn't take long for it to start to dent like that. At the Macy's parade this year they had brand new heads on it and by the end both were dented. Those heads are hit much harder than any other drum head would be.

Yes, there are bigger DRUMS out there. However, for those of you that are unaware, there are different types of drums. Purdue has the world's largest BASS drum built with all the similar features of its smaller bass drum counterparts standard to most marching bands. Oh, and Purdue does have it officially trademarked as well.
