That's actually the all tackle record for a Great White, set years ago when you could still target them. There was a bigger one caught on rod and reel off the US coast, but they used whale meat to attract it, which was against the rules. Search for Frank Mundus on here, he caught some big fuckers.

this is Alf Deans great white caught off Ceduna South Australia in 1959 it still seems to be the largest white on rod and reel, they have been protected in Australian waters for some years now. most of the great whites taken by rod and reel "back in the day" were caught on penguins or baby seals we have come along way since then.
