wie dann gesagt wurde: "gude abend, this is the Bluesband and this is the blues" whow, oder bum bum .. dann kam noch son Hammer -Song. Leider ist meine Casette TDK verloren . Mist!
I saw these guys in the early 80s (Itchy Feet tour maybe) at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Crowd wouldn't let them go. They done four or five encores and started re-doing songs from earlier in the set. Brilliant. I still bore friends talking about that gig.
Went to a gig by these wonderful guys last night, 11 Feb 2011 at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds. They nearly brought the house down, sold out concert too. I've been going to see them fro 31 years!!!
Got a bootleg 4 track of Dave Kelly recording in the studio . Sent by Roy Bainton 20+ years ago ..Never published talking in studio the lot .. Was told by Roy never to make it public.. Blues Band always make the feel good factor when played .
just to let you know i met your dad at the 100 club oxford street with his own band, i told him i was a big fan of his and the blues band, so he signed a dave kelly album for me. it is kept safe and only comes out when people who know their great guitarists come round. he is a real gent. i would love to hear somethingof yours, with a teacher like dad i would loose myself in it, take care rhys lloyd
Great video. Probably my favourite blues band track. This or "Someday Baby".
I'm 26, and I grew up listening to this band, and some of the other great British blues rock bands like 9 below 0 and The Feelgoods, and I think it's tragic that most people my age would never give this sort of thing a look in. more fool them. This kind of playing is seriously overdue a revival.
Great band. I saw them in September 1980 in Paris, just before the Allman Brothers Band. That was a great show. Thanks for the post. Brings back sweet memories.
Great. They were (are) an awesome rockin blues band. If they'd had an 'image' they could've been as big as Whitesnake et al in the early 80's. Paul Jones is a great harp player.
@philipsdisc1 Thank you!! Your Dad's brilliant. I've met him and the band several times and was a big enough fan to go spend a weekend in Grimsby on the 20th anniversary. I've got a whole album of pictures (he's slim and got hair then) from The Venue London and all the programmes of the old tours, most signed. Am I sad or just an old groupie LOL.
@philipsdisc1 I've been nuts about the blues Band for about 30 years now, OMG I'm old!!! Kids got dragged to concerts, granddaughter, friends and many times me myself and I go, better that way I can indulge my blues mania in peace. That Jones boy is too good on the harp too.
I am impressed that you admire your Dad, most offspring buck the trend and go their way. Hopefully he's encouraging you with your style of music. Long may he go on giving us all the pleasure of his music.
@philipsdisc1 Sam Kelly or one of the other brothers? I have photos of me with all the band members in Grimsby in 1999. The one of me with DK is especially good. If I ever work out how to use the scanner I'll put them on facebook. Eleanor Burns Dent.
I've just been to see them 16th October 2009, and except for them having a little less hair, they are quite far away still the Dogs Bollocks....absolutely brilliant.
PS. In 1962 Paul Jones became resident singer with Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated alongside Long John Baldry, both towering out above a shorter third vocalist, the aspiring Michael 'Mick' Jagger).
I'd love to find that album on CD. It was indeed a classic. They were amazing live and in the 80's there were other great blues acts around like Nine Below Zero. This band of course had been doing it for much longer. Nice to find it here.
wow, cool cover. thumbs up.

Wow serious Fannage going on here. lol
And he still has some hair! not so much in the slim now though.
My dad is honestly one of my idols. I respect him more as a guitarist than anyone else in the world and I've seen Jimmy Paige live!
At Glastonbury this year I watched Slash's set and he did a slide solo. Then I watched my dad's later and his solo was FAR better than Slash's.

Does anyone know if there is a video of The Blues Band doing Diddy Wha Diddy? I've not been able to find one with a search.
BTW I'm not talking about Doo Wah Diddy that Paul Jones did with Manfred mann

@wcpom I think they do it on one of their DVDs but I'm not sure. Check their website.

Just saw The Blues Band in King's Lynn last night - they were so laid back they were almost horizontal. These guys just ooze blues talent!
BreekieMe 2 years ago
@butchdenton They played at the theatre I work at last night, rather enjoyed the more bluesy stuff they did. Very pleasant gentlemen too :-)

I agree, their later albums were still good, but a bit weak. I think they redeemed themselves with the Wireless album.
