HU Alum...i was there this year & yeah, nsu gave it to us lol neva forget how amped these fools was when they went off at 8:05...cant front tho, it went hard lol still HU for life shawdy
I love to see the the Legend continue. I am credited with creating the cadence at 3:00 min, "Hauls" but it was a combined effort by all the brothers in 1993.
I miss the "Desperate Funk" at 7:02. And neck...was just ill!
Know I am crazy late....LOL, but I am fan of MDFS but this wasn't on of their best blocks. Yes techinal as always and that is why i bangs with them. I am also a set player so i enjoyed that. ANd Neck was crankin and shout out to the bruhs kickin a hop at the bottom of the screen.
this was one of the most boring blocks i've ever seen in my life...it got crunk at the neck part but other than that it was pretty lame........you guys making the comments about the snares being clean need to get some q-tips and get the wax out of your ears cause i dont know what snares you were listening to but the snares i heard are no where near clean and no where near the mdfs quality snares that i have heard in the past .....dont let your bias opinions blind you.
It's rare that MD would pull the band into a block, but they did it AFTER they burned the drums up rather than use it as a crutch which is the difference from what other sections would have done.
omfg wen they were on the traps layin in the most simple groove 4 lik 2 mins. out of the deep deep blue BA BU BU BUBUM! wen neck cam in it was anarchy. get rapped hubc
The drum block was good...a bit long at the beggining. I dont see how u bring the whole band in a drum block though...that was a cheesy set up. But anyway I was crunk at the end. I would like to see Hampton's Drum Block now...
And that's me screaming "MILLION DOLLAR" at the beginning...LOL...I am so not loud. This was my last Hampton block and to all my "expensive" siblings...I love you all keep up the tradition! Good luck next season!
MDFS Bros. As one of many architects of this group, I want you young brothers to know how proud I am to be associated with you. To see the evolution of what was born in 1978 to now, is truly amazing. Keep in mind, a lot of the early cadences(MD,Crazy,Pinky,50cent) came from "The Set" itself. Heavy on the 2&4, which as we all know is the home of FUNK. Hence, our Origin. So to see "The Sets" return to the block, shows me, in my opinion, homage to the past.
its true that this wasnt that great but they were obviously just chillin and tryin to entertain... imagine if they woulda played the block they played against a&t or vsu this year....it would have really been a wrap. but HU really improved this year... i liked what i saw.. give them a few more years they may be on norfolks level
I was there and the one thing that still gets me is the fact that this was suppose to be a drum battle and when the band played it wasn't there turn, it was like we're gonna play this song before you do. and the block did come from blast, the drum set part was done by Hampton in the late 90's for a halftime show Mr. Smart had put together. so there was nothing original about this to me.
Oh there are a lot of things that NSU this new school NSU has done that Hampton did back in the 90's, I remember NSU didnt even play rap mixes or rarely danced in the stands. Hampton would always get the crowd hype with their top 40 songs..to the point where we were called a top 40 band. As for the Drumline, NSU has always had some very technical beats and sounded well. It was dry and long winded up until the Neck part.
oh yea creativity nothing.. all that stuff came from blast. quints were tight. snare solo was mad dirty in the begiining. only time crowd was hype was for quints and the drum/band neck show off
You cant match that block if you know somebody who can you tell me. Creativeity was major role. I am just speechless everybody was hyped and expecting the unexpected which has always been a question when you come to a battle of the bands battling NSU as a whole or sections.
